NB apologies BXclub members who may be reading this twice.

£995, in Reading

Icebreaker - yes that's alot, but in the two months and 318 miles I've owned it it's had a new tax disc, MOT, CV gaiters, front brake pads, welding, battery, stop solenoid, oil change and whatever's left from the full tank of diesel I put in when I bought it.

172000 miles
MOT 28/11/14
Tax 31/9/14

MOT advisories:

+ oil leak
+ front brake hoses beginning to perish
+ offside front tyre is wearing on inner edge
+ front to rear fuel pipes heavily corroded
+ some corrosion to underbody in places

This was a company car for most of its life, and has full service history up to 2002 or 145000 miles. All the receipts from this are present, as is the service book before it ran out of pages at 96K. All  MOTs are present, the original sales document (£6000!), some print outs from the company car servicing computer, and a handwritten service diary. It has the owner's manual, service book, and a couple of Citroen maps in the little grey wallet. I bought the car from a student for just above scrap value, he said he bought it from a "Citroen enthusiast who did everything himself". Whatever.

Some idiot in December 2010 spent nearly £900 on the car (152K) fitting a new timing belt and water pump, fan belt, exhaust, "full service", front brake pads, HP pump belt and LHM flush amongst a a few other sundries.

In October I've spent £220 on a tax disc, £90 on a battery (was in a mood so bought an overpriced halfords one), £350 on garage services and a few other bits and bobs aforementioned. The price is obviously high for what it is, but at the end of the day I'm not desperate to get rid of the car, there are just others on the market that I'd rather own.

Tyres are generally quite good, Hankooks on the front and some daft budget make on the rear with plenty of tread. Spare is superb and doesn't look like it's ever been used.

Interior is pretty clean, parcel shelf present but not pictured (in the shed). Bodywork not great - crap colour, lacquer peeling on the front wings and roof. Dent in passenger side rear door.

Other faults:

+ Interior fan is on a pull switch
+ Rear demist not working
+ Engine oil leak
+ Instrument cluster backlighter bulbs not all working (predictably the inaccessible ones)
+ took the clock out as it didn't work

Other than that I can't really fault the car - engine, hydraulics are great. Three keys. OMG ORIGINAL NUMBERPLATES! from a Seat garage, sadly

Car also comes with a permit to park down Addington Road in Reading (not where I live), although I appreciate this only appeals to a very specific buyer.

cheers

Proton is most under-rated out of those, the engines are rapid, but if you're used to the 'comfort' of the BX, it'll take a while to adjust to the tinnyness of the Proton.

I can't recall ever owning a BX where all the instrument lights work. The ZX has followed on that great tradition, too. By the way, the TZD estate is the holy grail of 'non 16V' BXs, they always commanded a premium over other models.

Very, very nice.  Another GLWTS post from me, I'm afraid, but this really does like a great example of the marque.

BX's are getting close on the extinct list now. GLWTS from me as well

New lower price for AS members: £800

I've found, hopefully, a replacement motor.

Still has almost a full tank of diseasel and it turns out the rear desmist does work, I was just being impatient beforehand.

I've also successfully moved the car from the road outside into the drive so am 100% confident it could drive you home to Edinburgh or Diss.

Posted

Can I have a discount if I'm not going to Edinburgh or Diss?

loljk.

Looks like a smart example, and cheap at the revised price.

GLWTS fella.

Just what i don't need, but very much want !

Good luck with the sale

Off topic / But i'm sure my bx should of had one of those "door open" displays

Posted

No Minimad, you've got the povo TXD Turbo. You need a TZD to get the posh 'door open' thing. I did briefly fit one, just because I had a spare, but never actually wired it up.

I find simply looking to my right and if I can see tarmac whizzing past while the contents of my vehicle are being blown and sucked out into the exterior before being torn off by a passing HGV, then one would assume I have left one's door open.

Ebay bid winner "might not be able to pay up" so any offers over £500 could well be accepted at this point!

FFS

Posted

FFS indeed. It's superb value at that price. What a mong. I think the colour doesn't help this one. With no wheel trims, it does look a bit grim. A turbo diesel estate should be pretty desirable!

Copy and paste the following text and send it to the winning bidder: WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU BID FOR THEN YOU MASSIVE TWAT - should help you get to a conclusion of some sort with them.

Hi I've won the bid but I will not have all the money for a couple of weeks if this is a problem can u let me know I have most of the money but my husband bidded and he never knew I spent some money shopping my husbands phone number is *********** thanks

Take the (apparent ) offer of a very large deposit -to hold the car. That'll test whether they are genuine -or wasters

Posted

They'll be wasters. You could wait for weeks and the money will always be "coming tomorrow"

Posted

Non refundable deposit and a deadline for the rest of the cash seems reasonable to me. Guess it depends on how long you can wait though.

Shower of see you next Tuesdays all the same.

An Autoshite member did that to me for three months, so it's not just ebay mensa members.

Posted

I can confirm I will be coming tomorrow too.

Into a sock.

Winning bidder has accepted that they cannot afford the car so offers formally invited here.

Why do eBay not make buyers pay a £25 deposit that eBay would hold if a buyer want ls to bid on a high value items? It would weed out most of the dreamers and mean if it does go south the seller gets some reconpense.

Is it possible to relist without paying the fee by some complaints procedure? We all frequently see "relisted due to timewaster", or do they have to pay each time?

Posted

You can relist (or not) but you can still get your listing fees back either way. I did this with the Pug 309 and sold it on Gumtree instead. That was a while ago though, so don't ask me how! Took some searching but got there in the end.
