The Rover K series and Fiat FIRE engines are loosely based on the Stanley Steamer design.

Opel manta front wheel bearings are the same as a nova/corsa rear bearings

The Ford Mustang could not be sold with this name in Germany, since there lorry maker Krupp owned it. All Ford Mustangs officially sold in Germany were called T5 and had no Mustang badging. The chromed ponies were in a plastic bag in the glove box for the owner to fit, if he/she so desired.

Renault 5 actually

Nearly.  It was this...

... the Avon Jaguar Estate, that had the top half of an R5 tailgate welded to the trailing edge of the Jag bootlid.

No idea about the Eventer

This could actually have worked very well had they been a bit more careful with the side window treatment.

On a Citroen Ami 6, you cancel the indicator by pulling the stalk towards you. The Citroen GSA was the last car to be launched with a starting handle as part of the standard toolkit. Bob Holness designed the dashboard of the BX DIGIT.

Ok, I made the last one up...

Don't be silly, Ian - as any fule kno, he was far too busy dispensing Ps and laying down the sax line on 'Careless Whisper'...

May have recalled this from a certain public broadcaster's tv programme so it could be utter bollocks, but...

Baker Street.

And back to windows, the Porsche 924/944 use the same rear screen as the Renault Feugo.

That took a long time for me to work out, especially as the indicator tell-tale is a very faint ticking noise only just audible over the engine. In the end I stopped trying to indicate altogether, figuring if nobody noticed a bright blue Citroen Ami 6 following a massive 1916 Cadillac then they were probably destined to crash into something eventually anyway. My want glands haven't fully recovered from this experience yet, I even found an ok-ish one for a price I could afford but somehow talked myself out of it....

It is correct that they used Lucas-Girling brakes, like many companies did for their race/rally cars back then.

If they were compatible with the ones used on the Maxi would be coincidental, but not too improbable.

The Lada Niva was the first car to reach the North Pole, not the Hilux as claimed by Clarkson.

The Ford Capri was destined to be called the Ford Colt in the UK but the name was already owned by Mitsubishi.

The Lynx Eventer used the rear screen from a Citroen Ami

The Citroen Ami is rarer in the UK than the Lynx Eventer...

The Fiat X1/9 shares it's pop up's with the Lancia Stratos, and it's tail lights with the S1 Esprit. Also had a bonded windscreen from launch in 1972.

The first car ever to have the rear view mirror glued to the windscreen was the 1958 Ford Thunderbird.

The Austin Metro was going to be called Maestro before the Maestro was.

(not strictly true, but still a fact)

Bob Holness didn't play sax on Baker Street, but he did play James Bond

I think it was a choice along with Metro and Match that the workers could vote for.

TRUFAX

It was a radio show in South Africa, I was trying to find it the other day with no luck. I guess they didn't record everything like nowadays.

A Saab 95 estate came 4th in the 1961 Monte Carlo Rally.

IIRC, the Saab 95 had a 4-speed gearbox rather than the 96's 3-speed, which is why it was entered.

The Lamborghini Countach shares its seat belt stalks with a Fiat Cinquecento.

The Cinquecento was also biult with both longitudinal and transverse engines, just like a Renault 21.
