I sold the Hayabusa on Thursday as I didn't like it, bought this utterly filthy GSX650F on Friday to take it's place.

I don't think it's been cleaned in its 9 years, I've already spent 6 hours getting it into a state Hooli would call clean, still needs several hours more yet! cheap though, needs the wheels powdercoating, thinking of changing them to white :D

PAGING ULTRAWOMBLE

Here is that Tomos based death trap you wanted for Xmas.

125 pitbike engine, couple of months daytime MOT.

https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/1985-b-reg-tomos-scooter-125cc-engine-fitted-cool-retro-bike-motd-logbook-present/1280423968

That's fooking brilliant.

Shame it's in Tyneside.

Bloody ace that would be for local titting  about

Been pulling the new old bike to bits today, it now looks like this minus the wheels and swingarm, fitted some oe style heated grips with foil heaters under standard renthall grips and an old controller, don't like the bulky Oxford style ones, just need to fit some proper connectors onto the ends and tidy it up.

I also removed the discs and hacked the bearings out of the front wheel and will tackle the rear tomorrow after work then take the tyres off then they'll be off for powder coating.

Hopefully be finished and back on the road in a couple of weeks

Those heated grip elements are good - used to run them on the ktm for winter green laning .

Did you remember to put a bit of heatshrink or tape between the lh element and the handlebar to stop the heat going straight into the metal ?

Couldn't agree more on the Oxford grips - they work well but are far too thick.

I've renthal medium compound grips on the ZZR and they are lovely

I hope it's a good one-they do tend to get abused by 17 year old mechanical incompetents. If the current owner is using good quality two stroke oil (not the £4 a litre stuff from Aldi), amd they say they warm it thoroughly before giving it the berries, its two good signs.

Body panels are available second hand easily enough and at cheap prices. Easy to derestrict and enjoy 30 bhp. Just don't slow down for the bends......

unfaired one looks favourite cos old man folding up scenario :D

trade had a gadge with a brand new one for 2950 nz thats 1500 quid :o

googled them here and theyre 4k *falls over

and the uk 125 is 12hp (or is it 15 now) and 60 mph maybe the nz ones are 150cc and will top 80 :D

(performance bikes did a thrash to valencia on 3 125s the beginning of nov and got a gps 68 out of the zook :D )

so even buying one and shipping it would be cheaper than a new one here

am i insane :D

oh and you think road tax here is expensive - for a 50cc its 163 nz :o thats 90 quid

up to 600c 405 - thats 200 - which is insane as insurance for 12 months was 115 quid :D and thats with no no claims and not a resident

the reason im gonna buy a dealer bike as they usually throw in 3 months rego which would do me

No deal.

Spoke to him this morning and he spoke to me more about the bike and seemed happy.

Arranged a time to meet to view it and I went to the bank and got the money out.

He still hadn't sent me his postcode so i rang him a couple of times and he didn't answer.

Two minutes later, a text came through to say he has now decided to keep it.

Marvelous.

Shame-he probably talked himself into keeping it.

Still, RS's do come up quite frequently, either in immaculate or well used/abused versions, and would recommend you keep looking. My great - niece's one goes really well, but it's no Mito in the looks department (IMHO).

Couple more bikes I need to shift in the new year, and I will be getting an RS125 to join its big brother and the Mito.

Mission for new year is to build a mezzanine floor (or big shelf) the width of a bike for extra storage parking. Better build a decent ramp to save my back as well.

I think I need to increase my budget and hold out for another Mito.

I loved mine when i was 21 and have always missed it.

It'll only be ridden in the summer anyway so there's no rush really.

As it was disgustingly warm today I went out for a toddle. I can report three things  -

1) it's slippy on the cold wet bits

2) squires still charges a fortune for a crap cold cuppa

3) I really should remember to pump my tyres up before going out

attachicon.gifAt the wall.jpg

Update on this, I finally checked the tyre pressures today. 6psi low at both ends, that'll be why it wouldn't corner then.

I really should know better.

I bought a Moto Guzzi V50 from a well known bike shop in Doncaster. Part of the deal was a full service and MOT. The ride home was horrendous - I just couldn't understand why Italian motorbikes were praised for their handling. Until I checked the tyre pressures - full service my foot.

After months of pondering, I've finally decided to put my CZ125 up for sale.

If any Bikeshitters are masochistic enough to want something like this, the auction link is here.

There a programme on "Talking Pictures" (channel 81 on Freeview) at 17.50 today entitled "How to refuel your two stroke motorcycle engine in the 1940's".

Probably highly relevant to these CZ's.

Ten minute typing session lost in phone faux pas.

Can't be arsed risking it again so have some pics of my Hogmanay purchases.

Someone has started hacking bits off the cb presumably with a view to 'cafe racer' it.

I'm no expert on cafe racers. I've seen it running though so will try and make it rideable in the first instance. Drop handlebars and rearsets might be interesting.

Then I will probably attempt to finish what the boy started.

Www.caferacer.net seems to have sensible advice like make it fast and safe then worry about the looks.

Wouldn't want it to be super bike fast though. I had my fun in those 20 years ago. I was brought up on trailies when I was a boy like 250 sized XLs, DTs and XRs. I should maybe put nobblies on the CB and make a retro trail bike, although it might be too big to be useful.

I was really after a 70s/80s bike as earlier stuff is too dear. These were an impulse buy and now the buyer's remorse has made a wee appearance.

The GS has been off the road for 20 years and needs the carbs sorting.
