SambaS
Some of you may recall me rambling on about this:I bought it when I was 15 after failing to swap my friend £20 and a copy of GTA London for his back in school.I sold it in 2005 whilst not thinking straight. The chap who bought it did a mechanical restoration, I think also had the car repainted, anyways the final outcome was quite nice.It then went on I think to another owner, before ending up in Wales. The current owner became ill and couldnt continue with it and it has sat in thier garage since.Well I recieved a message from the guy I handed The Home of the Jimp website over to a few days ago saying that my old car was for sale and after I finished hyperventilating I managed to write to the owner to express my madness.Short story long I have just got off the phone after striking a deal. trigger
Be careful to Google "Jimp" instead of "Gimp" Michiel... Looks a smart old thing, well done.
SambaS
I think this is the most recent picture: And I'm pleased the car is made from a 1" square steel frame with aluminium panels riveted on, should make putting a roof back on fairly straightforward, although I'm not so sure about the fiberglass roof itself. That may be impossible to replace as it's no longer with the car.
SambaS
I think this may have been the plan for it:

plasticvandan
well done, i met the current owners at a reliant rally not long after they had bought it,but before the guy fell ill.A friend of mine has used one as his works hack for around 5-6 years now,he sells Reliant spares.driving it is like driving a greenhouse
plasticvandan
btw,my friend might be willing to get the roof copied,as a grp specialist is on site and he has already had various reliant parts re madeHere it is being worked
purplebargeken
Dear god, that has to be one of the ugliest car shaped things I have seen in ages, which of course makes it vaguely appealing. Only vaguely mind. It looks like a bloody toy.

Could you mention it to him and get some idea of price for me. I have the huge hurdle of gathering £500 up within four weeks and no job. Although I have at least one mate who has said he should be able to help me out. I have to try raise the funds without selling any of the others. Wish me luck! Que me applying for every damn job there is, 12 hours a day putting ice cream lids onto ice cream at R&R for me I think. Anything to get this Jimp back!!! SambaS
Need borrowage of a trailer board and electric hook up, I will stick the FSO numberplate on the back of the Jimp. And if I get pulled it's a trailer innit. Weighs about 560KG standard and with bits chopped off even less. Should be good. Just trying desperately to raise the funds, need some kind of loan against one of my cars. It's come at totally the wrong time, get a bit of cash compensation when they demolish my house in the new year. I was hoping the Jimp wopuld be available then but hey ho. I will have a job by next week plenty of factories round ere, just will have to be short term for the state of my mental health!

KruJoe
Need borrowage of a trailer board and electric hook upThe A-frame is mine, keep it as long as you want. I have access to a trailer boards and the extension you'll need, but they're my father's. If it's short-term lendage only, I'm sure we can sort you out, call in here on your way to Wales and we'll check electrics and stuff.
SambaS
I need to raise £500 to buy my Jimp back. So far I've managed to raise £200. In Feb next year they are knocking my home down so I get £4700 compensation, unfortunately the Jimp cant wait until then. I don't want to sell any of the cars, the MG will be going to make way for the Cosworth, but only when I have fixed it and made it good for another few years. The Samba Style has grown on me a lot these last two months so is staying. I would be most surprised if I don't get a job in the next few weeks as I'm literally applying for anything. Anyone want to part own a Jimp with me? *grimace*
plasticvandan
you dont have a job, have a load of cars, and want to buy your old jimp back (something you prob wont have the chance to again) simple equation to me,sell something! you cant drive them all at once, and having been in the same situation (several Reliants, and a pile of british bikes, and being out of work) i kept my favourite, and flogged the rest. shedvan
Not to question your motivation or anything, because I think we've all been in the situation where you get the mega horn for a car but is 500 notes the right price for it dude? Considering the work it needs? Again, I'm not having a pop or anything just maybe a little flex on the price would ease your purchase?
plasticvandan
the axle, engine and box are worth £500 alone,so dont think he would have much luck in getting the price down, theres only around 10-15 max of these things left as well.
