Hadn't heard of this little thing before, it's a Romeo. Seems like our sort of thing. A Romeo, what's that?

saw a 1960 Vauxhall PA Cresta hearse once, that looked very good. I guess it was a Fraiery (spelling?) estate converted into a hearse. Still had the mid-series tail lights and the higher indicators. Swansea reg IIRC

Last Vauxhall to officlally not be shit, apparently

Even better than that, a 1961 Velox

The British General Motors Division Vauxhall offered with this 1961 Vauxhall Velox Estate "Hearsette" a discrete transfer of vehicle, which was especially designed for pickup of deceased from their place of death. Rebuilt, it was at Friary Motors Ltd.

this one was a '60, different tail lights mate, plus it was a 2-door + hatch.

I think Shaun Gladwell (?) from the PA owners club had something to do with it. Was a fair few years ago now, mind you.

In a similar vein, Consul Classic Hearse? They did a Friary conversion, so it's possible?

(I would search myself but our server appears to be coal-fired this afternoon...)

I saw an absolutely gorgeous RR hearse yesterday I didn't want to be insensitive by taking a picture as it was in service with a coffin in the back and a RR limo behind

It looked like this

Romania is generally full of shit hearses - just google image "vanzare dric" for some absolute crackers. Best I've seen was on a Fiat 125 base.

i want this car now

im gona search high and low for one of these lol

Mum's funeral today. I was quite pleased that Lincoln Coop sent their new Jag XJ-based Wilcox - a nice motor for the final journey and definitely not a base model.

There was a small comedy moment, if you can have comedy moments at a funeral. They couldn't get the boot open after pulling up at the crem. Now, I know from my Disco (same electrickery gubbins) that the boot won't open if it's not in Park. Fun watching them sweat for a while before they worked it out...

Comedy moments at funerals are mandatory, like when someone pointed out Mum's wicker coffin looked like a picnic hamper and later someone else self-consciously said the garlands on the side of it made it look a bit like a giant sandwich in the back of the hearse.  It was a relief to have something like that on the day.

I gather that if you can't open the hearse to get the casket out you have to dig a bigger hole and put the entire hearse in it.

Citroen LNA hearse. I came across this looking for LNAs of the 104 / Samba sort.

THAT sort of LNA would make a povvo hearse!

No hearse shite, but comedy funeral moments recounted by the bloke who did my Dad's -

A very formal one where he had to walk ahead of the hearse wearing a top hat - very slow procession; they came to a junction, bloke stopped, hearse driver didn't - ran over him in a sort of offset way that robbed him of one of his shoes (and his dignity) - that was hard to recover from.

A bloke who wanted a job as a pall bearer and lied about his height on application - turned up to first gig wearing stack-healed cowboy boots to try to conceal height difference.

That R25 looks a superbly stylish way to make your final journey. Hopefully with a swarthy undertaker who is continually berated by the talking dashboard.

Been spotting this almost daily but I'm usually on my bike going the other way so couldn't get a photo, until I saw it parked up locally. Looks like the owner might have a bit of form:

I always see Australia Ford Falcon hearses. By Coleman Milne I believe

They look alright.

Today I laughed at an empty hearse, because it was this...

OK, so... funeral number 2 this morning saw my uncle arrive at Worcester Crem in a slightly less flamboyant Falcon hearse than the one above, viz.

A Cardinal Classic, apparently, though this is a 'library image'.  There was one of those cheapo Insignia jobs there, too.

Normal AS Undertakings will be resumed next Thursday as the monster-in-law travels non-return to Stafford in the same mk3 Granada hearse that carried Auntie Muriel last week, while we follow in one of the Scorpio limos.

I will try to take discreet photos...

Hmm... I wonder how many likes TS, viewed IN the hearse, might generate...

Strange how an e-type hearse ends up looking like a Scimitar.

Also, is that the ghost of the surprised-looking fella's Grandmother, in the background?

Through an unusual turn of (non car related) events, I ended up round there this morning to meet him. Turns out what's on the drive in those two photos is just the tip of the iceberg. We had a nice chat about cars, obviously, and I mentioned this place to him. He said he'd pop by for a look around.

I wonder if you can only rent this from a small ad in the back of a paper?

I would have thought that Laguna II estates would have made good hearses as the inevitable limp mode would merely reduce the speed to standard hearse velocity anyway.

Not sure the mourners will be particularly impressed with the dignified silence being broken every ten seconds with "Injection fault, visit Renault dealer immediately" on their loved ones final journey. Unless the computer can be persuaded to replace the warnings with such phrases as "aren't the flowers lovely" or "he had a good innings", etc...
