If it's for your lad then insurance on a CTi may be prohibitive, the 1.4 CJ's go reasonably well, and if you stick a set of alloys on them they look pretty smart.

Yeah, that was my train of thought. The CJ 1.4 seems a ffairly safe bet, do they have the TU suitcase engines ?

Anyhow one of those with a GTi interior would be right up his street I reckon .

Soda law all the ones we've found so far are too expensive or too far away.

The CJ has the Tu motor, rather than the 'Suitcase/Gears in Sump' one. The same as used in AX/ZX/306 et al.

 

I was lucky with mine as the guy was emigrating. I'll keep my eyes peeled though!

I can tell you with confidence that a 205 without the weight of an engine does not behave nicely on an A-frame. At all.

The Mk4 Escort that I recently bought is now up for sale - wife orientated reason for selling, well wife and credit card to be honest. Nice little car, runs like a dream, it's even got MOT and tax, plus a goodly amount of petrol in the tank. Hell, it's even beige. Have a look at the thread somewhere on here. 

 

Done a couple of bits to it, wipers, weather trims and have a rocker cover gasket to fit. £350 will see an Escort in your life and it will turn you into a sexual tyrannosaur (that bit may not actually be true).

I am going to have a look at a CJ tomorrow been standing for a while but they say it's sound and doesn't leak. Does have GTI alloys but other than that pretty standard and only £250. Let me know if you might be interested it is down here in Devon though

What engine is in it, is it manual or auto and how much do you want for it please? It's a real long shot as my son thinks it's class in a glass but I reckon the insurance will just laugh him out of town.

Forgot I posted this, 5.6l auto, £300, and unless your son is packing 3 or 4 decades NCB then yes it would be a most comical insurance inquiry.

I should probably offer this in the main page to get it gone.

No calipers or engine mounts as was going to be used for a V8 conversion that never happened.
