Dreaming of shite

OK, I'm worried now...this site must be affecting me subconsciously as all my recent dreams have involved shite cars in some way. Last night I had one in which I was on a bus and there was an old beige Sierra in front, I tried to take a photo but my camera refused to work and I got very angry  Is this healthy?

An orange Hillman Avenger featured in one of my dreams the other night. I quite often dream of shite, I dreamt I was driving a Peugeot 604 like Pete's a few months ago. 8)

If you dream about a female horse at night, is it a nightmare... :D

That's slightly worrying - I had a dream about a 604 earlier this week too. What does it mean, doctor? :?

It was a few nights ago now so it's very hazy, but I did have a dream where I found and started using two cars. I can't remember what they were, but they were definitely shite. Does anyone else have that phenomenon where you wake up and aren't sure if you were dreaming or it's reality?

I just had a quick squizz at one of those hippy dream interpretation sites and here's what they have to say about cars....

Cars

To dream that you are driving a car denotes your ambition, your drive and your ability to navigate from one stage of your life to another. Consider how smooth or rough the car ride is. If you are driving the car, then you are taking an active role in the way your life is going. However, if you are the passenger, then you are taking a passive role. If you are in the backseat of the car, then it indicates that you are putting yourself down and are allowing others to take over. This may be a result of low self-esteem or low self-confidence. Overall, this dream symbol is an indication of your dependence and degree of control you have on your life.

To dream that you drive your car into a body of water or that it rolls into water implies that you are in for an emotional journey.

To dream that you forget or can't find where you parked your car indicates that you are dissatisfied or unhappy with an aspect of your waking life. You do not know what you really want to do with your life or where you want to go. To dream that your car has been stolen indicates that you are being stripped of your identity. This may relate to losing your job, a failed relationship, or some situation which has played a significant role in your identity and who you are as a person. If you dream that your car is overheating, then it suggests that you are expending too much energy. You need to slow down or run the risk of being burnt out. You are taking on more than you can handle. It is time to take a breather.

To see a parked car in your dream suggests that you need to turn your efforts and energies elsewhere. You may be needlessly spending your energy in a fruitless endeavour. Alternatively, a parked car may symbolize your need to stop and enjoy life. To dream that you cannot find where you parked your car suggests that you do not know where you want to go in life. To dream that no one is driving a moving car suggests that you need to reassess your level of control over your life. You are unwilling to take responsibilities for your actions.

Didn't have anything to say when I asked it about Peugeot 604s though. :(

Twice in the last week on consecutive nights I'ven had a dream about 1970s Volkswagen Passats...

I had a dream last night, that I'd discovered hitherto unseen footage of a daring WW2 'project'.

It was a pair of trousers, lowered from a Lancaster bomber on extremely long braces, which contained hydraulic legs shod with shiny hobnail boots. When over a German town, they'd be lowered to ground level and start kicking furiously.

The dream had a cheesy 'Mr Cholmondeley-Warner' voiceover, saying "Let's give Gerry a damn good kicking, what".

Does that count?

The other night I dreamt about a Piazza that filled up with orange juice as I was driving, past the windows and right up to the roof. This meant I was not allowed on the M53, because the cars there were all full of apple juice.

In some ways this was similar to the time I had a dream about going to Sale Swimming Baths and the pool was full of hot tea rather than water. I got banned from the pool because I didn't have any biscuits.

I had a recurring dream where I have a Daewoo Espero in a spec which doesn't exist - two-tone dark blue/silver, V6 engine and autobox. The wheels are flat-face polished aluminium wheels, quite chintzy. The interior is wine red velour, the door cards and carpets are also matched to this and there's matching factory mats which say "ESPERO" in gold text, the headlining is also wine red but it's more of a plastic type thing, perforated though. There's also (plastic) black marble on the gauges surround and the radio/vents section. The radio is a 2-DIN cassette deck with an extensive graphic equaliser, it goes really loud and is very well-specified, there's a "Metal" button and autoscan. The back panel on the boot lights up so you get a huge continuous back light, the badging is the same as the usual but it's done in gold instead of silver. There's also wind deflectors around the windows which are smoked black and say "ESPERO" on them in little text. In the dreams I mostly murder people.

I have dreams that I still own cars (sometimes ones I used to have) in old lockup garages that I have forgotten about and I have to get the cars back on the road. This is why I joined this forum: therapy!

Snap! Sort of - I have dreams that I own a number of shite vehicles parked all over the place and I have to get them up and going before the police/dvla are on my arse... Mk3 Escorts seem to feature and they are all trashed and vandalised with no engine, wheels, doors etc. Is it the fear of impending MOTs that bring this out?

Also I vividly remember a dream I had as a kid where I am driving a huge estate car that was a sort of cross between a square Ford Granada and one of those German Ambulances based on a big Merc estate - it also had a dash and steering wheel from a Triumph Stag. One year ago I was behind the wheel of a huge Merc R class (not mine gladly) and thought "I've been here before!"

Most nightmares I have normally involve Range Rovers for some reason.

Last night I was trying to save my family from a house that was trying to kill us all and the 406 wouldn't go over 20mph, kind of a variation of the running through treacle effect.

Saturday before last, I woke up, feeling slightly "fuzzy" and remembered that I had dreamt about having had a few drinks on the Friday evening with a mate, and between us we had decided to bid on a 5.3 V12 XJ-S on the bay.

Ha ha - thank goodness it was only a dream!!

Ooops! Wednesday evening - we won the auction as no-one outbid us :(

Collecting said XJ-S this coming Friday.

:P

Sympathise but any bid made on Ebay after 11.30 should have a sobriety test built in before you can put the bid through - something like a sequence of numbers flashed up that you have to repeat in a given time otherwise bid fails.

Mind you the number of XJ-S V12s sold on Ebay will go down...

Had an odd dream about being asked to move my car that was being stored at a friends workshop, turns out it was a Citroen Traction Avant and I'd forgotten about buying it one drunken night long ago.

Sadly it was just a dream.

You're all a bunch of mad buggers but in a really good way. Keep going!!!!

I used to have a recurring dream - strangely, it started long before I could actually drive - about driving through an anonymous town of an evening in a white Mk2 Astra van for hours before stopping to fill up with diesel in a Texaco fuel station. I remember getting back into the van, starting the engine, driving to the exit of the forecourt and leaning forward to change the radio station. My attention was clearly not on the job at hand, as I then pulled onto the main road and the last thing I remember was four headlights before waking up in a cold sweat, having I'd assume been written off by said quad-headlamped HGV of sorts.

I've not had it for a while, but I do recall one time it happened when I was in bed with my ex and she had me all but convinced it was how I died in a previous life. I now have a fear of white Mk2 Astra vans and Texaco garages, but thankfully no psycho dream believing ex to be gullible as fuck with.

Had a really weird dream the other night where I was driving a double decker bus from the top deck. That was an experience!

I finally have something to add to this thread.

Last night I dreamt of a scrapyard that had stuff that wasn't quite baler-ready for up to £300, but they were scattered amongst all the seriously hopeless old bollocks. So, there I was, rummaging around the Sierras and Primeras when I suddenly found a Renault 25 Targa, with T-tops front and rear, two of which were sadly broken which, I reasoned, had scuppered any prospect of salvage. I was annoyed that I didn't have a camera with me, and therefore couldn't prove my find, so I stole the badges off the back. One said Targa, the other, strangely, said Magazine.

For some reason I elected to carry the Magazine one in my mouth, and my gob made all the writing come off it, so I couldn't prove what it said. And the Targa one could have been off anything. I thought.

Best dream I've had in ages, despite nil flange content.

I often have incredibly vivid dreams which involve The Volvo being damaged in some way :(

I've just woken up from dreaming about something so shite it doesn't even exist*. My fevered mind had somehow cooked up a Yugo 45 motorhome in stunning beige with brown stripes, I thought it was awesome and was genuinely disappointed when I realised it was only a dream

*cue for you lot to prove me wrong but I CBA to check

Last night I dreamt that I bought a 1978 Cortina 2.0GL in white with seat covers on, all was well until I removed the drivers seat cover and discovered that the Ford seat had been replaced with a cut-down pine dining room chair with a bit of foam around it. This pissed me off cos I had to drive to Huddersfield.

Tonights vivid dreams have involved visiting a scrapyard full of vintage tat set out in a letter B formation. Several Zodiac/Zephyr 6 hearses stacked for the chop and I managed to steal a big box of Lucas bulbs from the glovebox of a 1930s Hillman. I arrived home to a place I used to live in with a big back garden overgrown but with loads of top chod in the bushes including a Renault 15 and Simca, all decaying away.
