Shite in Miniature II

They really are amazingly accurate for the scale, it's easy to see why railway enthusiasts use them on their displays.

I've found myself collecting more of the later 70s Superfast stuff lately too.  Not on purpose, they just seemed to always be in joblots and they're never really worth anything.  I suspect that will change in a few years, especially for really nice examples.  Here's a couple of my favourites I've bagged so far, got to love a bit of wedge action.

This poor old thing is now waiting for fresh paint now that I've chiselled the gloopy red mess off it.  I'll be redoing it in a metallic blue, I've got an idea for this one I want to experiment with that's a variation on the original colours.

Catalogued under Stupid Ideas, I'm going to restore this because I can. As soon as I get something that can donate the proper rear wheels this one will be up and running again.  It's not actually as bad as it looks.

The other-other thing I'm interested in collecting are the Rolamatics cars because they're a neat bit of mechanical engineering and fun to take apart to see how they work.  I've not got many of these and the two Fandangos I've got are good examples of most Rolamatics in that one looks totally trashed and the other is in surprisingly good shape.

I never pay very much for these, mostly because I can't.  I like picking up completely ruined examples and bringing them back to life and I do play with them on my desk from time to time because why grow up?

It's funny, I really can't get on with superfasts, which is bizarre, seeing as they are my era and I grew up with them everywhere. I prefer that post-war austerity regular wheels feel.

'This metal should really be going for export but the kids need something to play with-ness'

Born in the wrong era, like most of us on here eh?

I like the older stuff for looking at and the younger stuff for playing with.  ATCNBE

Next up is this Simca, some window unit warp, and missing aerial. I hoped to resolve the latter issue with an aftermarket one from 3MJA.fr - but I looked at it funny and it snapped virtually instantly :-(, won't buy from there again (not like there are many Norev part suppliers!). Still, happy with the car.

Hot Wheels have a couple of models of the Honda Civic EF in white.

Seeing as I have a white EF now, I sort of need to find one (or two). I think there's one in the 2019 Hot Wheels range - be on the lookout for me ;)

New arrivals today.  Always new arrivals at birthday time.  My birthday has already happened, the stuff just takes a while to arrive, so it's like having many small birthdays.  Anyway, I digress, couple of interesting items, the first being this Superfast petrol tanker.  I don't think the tractor unit and trailer are a proper match because of the wheels, so I'm looking for one of each with the other wheels now so I have two matching ones.  Unless this is one of those Matchboxes where they didn't update the wheels on one half for whatever reason.  I do like this one, I had a couple of the tractor units as a kid and never could find a trailer for it.

The other item of interest is this E-type.  I already have one of these and it's not a model I seek out, so of course I've ended up with two of them (always the way).  This one is interesting since it sports grey tyres instead of black ones.  It's not a particularly rare combination as far as I can tell and someone has repainted it red with a silver roof in the past.  Amazingly, the glass is intact and it's fairly clean so I suspect this was a much loved toy and for that reason I'll probably leave it exactly as it is.

post-5335-0-77723700-1541429380_thumb.jpg

The other E-type did get a repaint.  Glass lets it down a bit because I didn't have a polishing thing when I did this so I might pop it apart and sort that, or I might just leave it alone because it's an E-type and meh.

I wasted 'too much' on an Abrex Skoda 120L Estelle mk2, I prefer the Ixo partwork one. Photos when I can be arsed. Pissed off with Flickr atm, and how they are knifing free users in the back

What’s the quality like with that lepin stuff?

almost indistinguishable e.g the red of the routemaster bus lets a tiny bit more light through

i used some jenuwine lego bits to jigger about with the blue & yellow caterhams and you can only tell by looking for markings

Just popped up to the spare room to see what my MIB example is like - it has just the same odd-wheel combination. Ditto the yellow and blue tipper version.

In the Container Port Playset there's a neat version of it with a longer plastic trailer that takes a couple of containers. It looked a bit more realistic than the short tanker/tipper trailers.

I resisted buying this once, but I found myself close to the shop. My will broke and I payed probably too much for it but meh.. it's mine.

Look at that oblong steering wheel.

It's got steering, rubber tyres and a Studebaker looking on in awe.
