Yup, it's from the same Schiffer series as the Matchbox and Husky/ Corgi Juniors books I picked up a while ago.

Don't get too excited about the 'up to date models and prices' claim - this fourth edition was published in 2000, so there's a lot that's not in here. It still runs to nearly 400 pages.

But, as a pictorial reference work for older Hot Wheels stuff, it's pretty good.

IMG_20260624_1045132.jpg.fc7ec3f1b47c315dceab5ec7a703b10f.jpg

While the big Matchbox book just starts with model No. 1 and goes all the way through as a numerical catalogue (just as the Great Book of Dinky does), this one's more like the Great Book of Corgi - it's a year-by-year guide to new releases in the range.

IMG_20260624_1045232.jpg.57f382e5fa6123cac73374fd85453806.jpg

Pictures are good and clear throughout, and a table at the back gives production years, colour variations and other info on each casting.

I've only really glanced through it so far, but what's interesting are seeing all the ex-Corgi Juniors that got a new life in California...

Seems that SKU numbers starting with 955 or 956 denote an ex-Corgi casting, though I'm not sure if the yellow Porsche 911 Targa (#16300) above isn't the same Corgi we saw in the Frosties promotion?

Those Corgi Hot Wheels are fascinating. I wonder what American kids made of Mattel making very British ERF fire engines that looked nothing like US fire trucks and were built by a company they'd never heard of. That FX4 in New York yellow labelled London Cab Co is just a surreal clash of cultures.

Down at heel Corgi whizzwheels Renault 16.

Despite it's shabby and battered appearance, the glazing is almost perfect.

Missing both A pillars this one,as well as a hastily application of blue with a snazzy white stripe.

How much is the rental down your way for a 2-3 bedroomed bungalow with garage, parking and if possible a conservatory?

I just did :)  A total of one in Bexhill, which actually looked quite suitable except rental is £1800 a month.  Eek.  I've already looked at a comparable one up here that's half the price.  Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Could you add some pics of the earlier stuff please?

Anyone else find that the earlier cars always seem to have bent axles? Must be thinner gauge steel.

Stuff I seem to have forgotten,

Unusually, I managed to get to the local Lidl last Thursday, just after the Middle of Lidl stuff had been stocked up.

IMG_20260621_143425.jpg.e6eebc9593a2984c540c61f73ff8b8c9.jpg

There were absolutely shitloads of these HW Silver Series Crass & Spurious cars in. I don't normally make a habit of buying entire series, (as there madness lies...),  just sticking to the ones I like out of them, but at near half price, I couldn't resist,

IMG_20260621_143533.jpg.60bf9863038992853d26972072165c38.jpg

I've already got this Camaro from one of the other F&F series, but this one seems to be finished better, in a nicer metallic  shade of blue with better wheels.

IMG_20260621_143702.jpg.4c673a5668819d1458240f7adb61259e.jpg

Ditto the old Chevy Fleetline. This one seems to be in a more realistic patinated finish than the other release,

IMG_20260621_143607.jpg.c9420a227deffaf0a42bae9d47c57ff1.jpg

I think the Impreza is the star of the series, certainly seems to be the more sought after when it came out.

IMG_20260621_143443.jpg.d5b49e55ea03e1cbad4de7ba0e257884.jpg

Maxima is another unusual casting. It's a nice casting too, one I've never seen before.

Ambled over to Smyths the other day, they had a few pegs full of the new Car Culture Aero Styles series. This Audi A4 Touring car was the only one of that casting left though, must be the scalper's favourite out of them,

IMG_20260622_194821.jpg.dcc18ecd85da7aedc0f20f689bf720c0.jpg

I do like a bit of the old Deutsche Tourenwagens, so this is right up my straße! Nice card art too.

Too hot to want to do much else so I'm messing about with these:

1:24 Monogram 1970 Chevelle SS kits

1/24 Chevelle almost ready for final assembly.

1:24 Fujimi Toyota Corolla Levin TE27 kit

Started this 1/24 Corolla Levin last weekend as a quick, simple project. Paintwork has since been polished and bodywork detailing is the main thing to do. Might be optimistic to complete it tomorrow but shouldn't be too long....

As is my pleasure I like to buy a model of every car I bought so I now needed a Citroen C6. Looking on eBay 1:43 models of the C6 seemed extraordinary expensive, but at the DS rally I found a reasonably priced Norev model.

While my car is black, it was originally blue so buying a blue one didn’t seem too bad. What I found when I got home was it had a flag, I thought about cutting it off, but there is a Tik Tok real of my car with a flag on it being used as a chauffeur car. Yes the colour is not as it is today and the flag is a French one on the wrong side. I am still very happy with what I bought.

Spotted this rather sad Politoys Giulietta SS for a tenner on ebay recently. This is one which has proved elusive in my price range so I snapped it up despite the defects

The grille is a little damaged on that one, but it's better than nothing. "simply" uncrew the base, dismantle, clean and reassemble...

No 506 denotes the sixth model in the M-series. This is a 'first series' version with the flat metal hubs, later versions had more detailed wheels. I believe this only ever came in gold or red, and I much prefer this shade

Few purchases this morning, though not as many as previous weekends. Particularly taken with this one though, I'm assuming it's a Toyota Hiace? It's sort of Choro Q/Penny Racer style but more in scale with 1/64 style and diecast rather than plastic.

Made in Hong Kong by Holly.
