Pearl grey Bentley S2 please?  Also Chitty just because I've never had one.  Maybe I should scoop up the other Bentleys too, I'll soon have enough to stage an all-Bentley grid!

Thanks for the input, I forgot to say the headlamp was known to be missing and I plan to reproduce it in resin. I love the diorama idea and Mrs Concern would be well up to it*, but as it's to be a present for her sister that's not the idea. The toy is a diecast mazac or similar so yes we will use epoxy resin possibly with a wire in it to give some strength to fix the bumper.

* @SilverMachine I'm not sure if you were a regular when I posted the pics of the almost scratch built Judy Garland Trolley Song model Mrs Concern made a couple of years ago, anyway here it is

Last Vinted purchase was this, and I had to buy it twice - for some reason recently, three separate deliveries via Evri have been returned to sender as "unable to deliver". This one made it back to the sender and then to me, again

This one's a Fisher Price, I've got a hankering for a replacement dragster the same as the one I remember so well, spinning up the friction motor to ridiculous RPM before hitting the button to send it wheelieing off into a distant sideboard. I missed out on a cheap pair on eBay because I dithered, so I grabbed this funny car to tide me over in the meantime

Not much larger scale stuff today, one seller had a table full of mostly familiar cars that I perhaps should have picked over more carefully, as he wasn't greedy. Cost me a fiver to get this X1/9 and boat set, trailer is missing a wheel but I have trailers up the wazoo

Nothing of interest at the market this morning. Thought I had struck gold when I spotted a Cararama box labelled Ford Ka, this being a particularly rare one and subject to Ford tax so I've been looking for one for years.  A closer look revealed someone had put a common Mercedes C-class in the wrong box. Major disappoint.

There's work going on here.  First pic is three chassis that I've now taken downstairs because they need some cutting.

100_3532.JPG.595bd297145fa82cce39f042378910ff.JPG

From the front: Corgi Cortina GXL chassis was a police car, so I need to cut off the siren that Corgi added to the front number plate, because this is now going to be a civilian car (see below).  Next up is a Corgi Aston Martin DB4, which needs a little adjustment to a couple of the posts that hold the interior.  Easy enough.  And finally, a Dinky AEC Merryweather fire engine chassis: I need to cut off the control/outlet panel you can see, to go on something else.

100_3529.JPG.8e47c6de20449ffada3e85f58b527aec.JPG

And here's the rest of the Cortina.  Next time you see it, it'll be right way up and surrounded by sisters!  Now the next two pics are near-as-dammit completed; I just have to fit the steering wheel to the Armstrong Siddeley and the front axle to the grey Jag.

100_3531.JPG.e81af5e96fac777b87d58616fbf512f0.JPG

100_3530.JPG.f778dfc45861582026bedd829f029a31.JPG

Now then: if you've been keeping track, you know that I've been building up a stock of (mostly) Matchbox King Size fantasy vehicles, to make what might be considered background traffic in street scenes, as might have been used (but obviously never were) by Gerry Anderson.  So I got my hands on the Matchbox camper...

100_3533.JPG.d02cf25dede971315573013958e88297.JPG

...and made a plain van!

100_3534.JPG.bc606657945b9179363945cdfdb55933.JPG

100_3535.JPG.99ce567ab39f157b6f0df9e497304d06.JPG

The roof is a section cut from a Dinky Ford Transit, filling the hole where the camper top flipped up.  Rear door was missing so I cut down a section of a broken caravan body to make a new one (fixed rather than opening!  I'm not that good!).  Windows were filed to remove the cast-in frames, then filled with P38.  I always stick a strip of masking tape on the inside so the filler doesn't just blob through.  Both vehicles can now join the fleet.  If I lay hands on another one I might do a minibus...

That, is amazing. I love that. Can't find one except for one in Switzerland for £124 which I can't afford and wouldn't pay anyway.

It reminds me of this which I often drive at work:

An arrival, yesterday.

IMG_20260620_123747.jpg.c85561bd3d96d349605731179ca5ac3e.jpg

A bit of a selfish, indulgent purchase this one. Still got a bit of guilt over it as being a low volume resin model, these Matrix models aren't cheap.

My mother passed away a few weeks ago. I started getting sentimental and looking through old pics where I came across this (abysmal) pic of me in my first car in 1991).

3ff0336d-dcef-4d8b-a256-991659ceeff8_edit_199817750924295.png.791b574989e56a74837f296009d03bde.png

(This was the result of picking a filthy cold wet October day for my mate Dave to try to take a picture of me trying to wheelspin a 998cc shitheap.) It was a base MiniMetro which someone had attempted to inject some street cred into with MG stripes and interior, (red carpets and seatbelts FTW), colour coded grille, spotlights and later TD wheels.

I've long wanted a Metro in model form. I've got the period 1/36 Corgi versions in blue and red, but I always wanted a nice 1/43 version. For a car that was literally everywhere, options are limited. For a replica of my old car, the nearest options  would be the Mk1 Vermillion red MGs by Neo,

174817.jpg.50568cbdff954851f4f18796c577da83.jpg

And Lansdowne,

images(3).jpeg.a9b3868e8ed277db2020839da401ab79.jpeg

Sadly price and rarity rule these two out straight away. Plus the Lansdowne just looks wrong to me.

IMG_20260620_125253.jpg.1f6f7def8ef1b23af5899f101c2bbf08.jpg

So, the Matrix is a Mk2 Turbo, and a different shade of red, but sod it! Its a red MG so it got the job. These Matrix Metros are a lot more readily available, and I got a pretty good offer from an ebay seller. RRP on these is somewhere around the £100+ mark (still cheaper than the Neo and Lansdowne ones) but this ended up working out about the same as two Vanguards cars. Clearpay instalments eased the pain also.

Its been a bit of a shit time at 201 towers lately so when the offer came through I had a bit of a F-it moment. I work 60 hours a week, don't smoke, and drink 'in moderation'. Apart from my old Merc, diecast is my one vice, so what the heck.

IMG_20260620_125311.jpg.28499c3e22f1e0f67b37aea6aa4da688.jpg

This is the first resin model I've had. Finish is impressive and everything just seems sharper and more delicate than diecast. The glazing on this is so thin you can actually see clearly inside without the 'bottle bottom' effect of cheaper models.

Even has the correct Philips digital stereo,

IMG_20260620_125330.jpg.1f00bf89755326a35fd2657ddcd93746.jpg

And cassette holder. Note the red carpets!

IMG_20260620_124145.jpg.0762406f697a4738b265546d54a5a2c0.jpg

There are tiny seperate plated parts like the MG grille badge and door and boot locks,

IMG_20260620_125404.jpg.60b0eef9667893fc389d88b405721bb8.jpg

Plus the side repeaters and aerial stub.

Worth the price of two Vanguards? Open to debate. But I absolutely love it. My favourite mini-shite purchase for a long while and it's brought a bit of joy at what has been a bit of a shitty time.

Can't put a price on that can you?
