@eddyramrod was that Corgi Jag XJS I sent you recently the Supercat version?

I didn’t pay it much attention before but now with them being mentioned on here I’m thinking it could possibly have been one?

Expand

Obviously I had to look when it was mentioned previously, and yes, that is what it is.  It's in my Projects box at the moment because it's shabby enough that I won't worry about painting it, but if you would prefer to rescue it...?

You did, and I stripped and painted it well before anyone thought it might be valuable.  Hey ho.

Re the hearses: I have the Bond Cadillac but not the LaSalle, which is a bit of a glaring omission on my part.  I really need the OD 1/43 Daimler, and the MB '63 Cadillac (I have a couple of different ambulances).  I must admit I'm quite pleased with how the old '62 Corgi has turned out.  I might have a crack at doing it with something else sometime.

Ambulance conversions, hmmm... snack van anyone?

I believe that hearse was from a short lived range of miniature battle figure sets sold as 'Zero Hour' - I had a yellow US-style school bus from the same range which converted into some sort of assault vehicle; there was a battery-powered monorail, a sea assault harbour with boats, tanks and off-road buggies and all sorts... Must look into that, a real blast from the past!

Didnt know there was a second mix of these 56th anniversary editions, the Sierra was the only one available, but I'm happy with that.

I thought the one in the 5-pack was a sort of darker terracotta colour, whilst the individually carded one was orange - turns out they're nearly (but not quite) identical shades.

But, as you say, the artwork's really nice anyway!

Probably not at all accurate as a US hearse but it was as close as I was ever going to get.

I need somewhere like that with some forced perspective, honestly thought that was 1:1 initially.

It was the flat roof extension on the back of our previous house, which had an open view at the back and the chipping texture of the covering was nicely in scale.

Wow! Weird how the colours are the same but slightly different, it does show up in that pic. This is the (even darker) Terracotta version I've been after, but no joy yet,

Typically AliExpress have just about every Collectors series release available apart from this one, and I'm not about to pay upwards of £15 for one from ebay...

Ah well, I'm supposed to be stopping buying multiple versions of the same casting anyway...

They are a really nice casting. I’ve only got one in my ever shrinking 1:64ish sized collection which is a primrose sort of colour.
I wouldn’t mind trying to find a 1:43 123 etc estate. I’ve got a few saloons but the estate version seems to either be non existent or rare.

Can't promise to make much more progress on this one, but @Datsuncog reminded me I had a crushed cars to be getting on with last night

Went a different route here, rather than a strip and repaint I thought I'd try keeping the original colour. Took the tampos off with meths

PXL_20241206_171422700.thumb.jpg.4a1d8494103cdcafa250a3d961495fa6.jpg

Went over it with a bit of wet 250 and a Brillo pad. I'll probably paint the bumpers then carry out a bit of weathering etc, much more to do yet

Who remembers these?  Matchbox in the 70s did a 'subset' of the 1-75 range named Choppers.  The artwork was dramatic, I think The Invisible Man was the rider

[ photos stolen off Vectis ]

Never had one, as a boy I didn't like them for some reason, perhaps the approx 1:32 scaling was the problem as they didn't 'fit' with the other vehicle on my bedroom floor roadway

Anyhow, all these years later I might have secured a Chop Suey (1973-only) through the @bunglebus sell-off.  A closerer-up photo of one:

Tom has his Stingeroo (1972-75) already you see.  Also did I mention that Tom has come out of the closet since joining the local Hells Angels chapter

There were other ideas submitted for the Choppers range that just remained pre-production one-offs
