There’s only a bunch of wheels on this one. Your welcome to it if you want it though…

I’ve also got several of the various Transit models, most of which have roof racks with bits on.

That sounds good. I'm currently searching for a realistically priced trailer that looks vaguely correct for the time.

Master SL and I took a trip out yesterday.....

I got this set, as Smyths have reduced the price to £19.99.

For once I came home with less than him, as the purpose of the journey was to go and collect this lot that he'd agreed to purchase:

£30 off Gumtree. The Honda garage on its own seems to go for reasonable money. This was after he'd got his own Hypercity stuff out of the loft earlier in the week (he'd received quite a bit when it was readily available here in the past) and did a bit of research on prices. Putting it all together created this scene:

I took the repro French Dinky toys I bought a couple of weeks ago out of their shrink wrap today. Beautiful shiny paint, but poor asembly as the Galaxie had a rear light bezel rattling around loose and the Opel had a door hanging off!

Luckily both easily fixed as the Rekord was just not clipped together properly and a dab of glue fixed the light.

I wasn’t aware there a Hot Wheels MK3… I’ll have to Ask Jeeves on that one!

Trailers…

Theres a Cararama car trailer available in 1:43 which looks pretty good but isn’t the cheapest. I’ve got one here somewhere, but it’s packed otherwise I’d take a few pics.

I did find this though on eBay while looking for something else,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235645489616?_skw=remorque&itmmeta=01J8CFF4BXHNPCWXMHTJBCNAVP&hash=item36dd90d1d0:g:Za4AAOSwtNZmjRQ3

Same seller has a few others too,

There’s a load of truck trailers but the car trailers are jumbled in with them!

It's that time of year again where indoor hobbies become more appealing, and for me models come to the fore as something I can enjoy indoors when the weather is crap.for those interested the Shepton mallet toy and train fair is on 7th October, and well worth going if your not a million miles away,I have specific interests (scammell mechanical horses, gpo, three wheelers, larger scale plastic 50s stuff etc) and always find something.

Yesterday’s efforts down in the shed.

Chassis, bed and cab painted. Cab needs the details painting in but I need to make the glazing first. Assembled up loose with its final wheels.
They’re not exactly the right style for an early AEC but I just can’t get any! The only way I could would be buying a pair of the AEC bus models just to pinch the wheels from - which is an expensive waste I think so these will do nicely.

While that was drying off I made a new replacement deck for the trailer I robbed the body off a while back. Loads more to do with this, and it needs a tractor unit, but I’ve got a plan for that!

IMHO, the Corgi is a much better turn, the proportions are just right and whilst some of the detailing isn't great, it's isn't too hard to get right, even with my cack-handed attempts.

Absolutely they are just a child's toy, but it's interesting to see what kind of effort they went to. I appreciate it for what it is and what effort has been put into it. Not so much with Majorette but as you said, it was only ever meant as a child's toy, but then so was the Corgi which is much better IMHO.

That's one thing I forgot to add. The lower tailgate on TXC does get loose but never drops down, it just always manages to get underneath the top glass. DAE always stays shut but does open with some help.

The other one is self-plated DAE 233J, so right for the year (I guess). I've taken a little liberty with the marker pens to give them more authentic details. They aren't the same as can be plainly seen but it doesn't bother me too much, I don't have the painting skills and patience of @danthecapriman or @sierraman (hmmm, both Ford derived usernames, is there a theme here?)

The internet is a blessing and a curse. Not so long ago I found out that Matchbox made a white version of the Mustang Piston Popper, in a five pack - one of, if not the first vehicle to receive a different colour to the 1-75 cars for use in a multipack. There are various pictures of them online with individual boxes, don't know if they came this way too or not, but they were definitely a proper release rather than a colour trial

image.png.73a090144aae369c2c822e3192d73897.png

I'm unlikely to find one, but as it's exactly the same as the blue one bar the colour, I selected a victim

Restos and recreations are a little frustrating to me, as I want to go to town smoothing out every imperfection and detailing all the lights, in fairness this casting was pretty good to start with

While looking into this variation I realised there was another white version of a blue Matchbox released at about the same time

I’m sure there’s one of those Corgi Range Rovers in @eddyramrod’s box here in police livery.

99% sure it’s a Corgi one, assuming they did it in police colours?

Id definitely agree the Corgi is better than Majorette. I had a Majorette one as a kid and loved playing with it in the garden. It’s long gone now and I’d completely forgotten about it until last year when I found a really really nice one in a job lot, which I’ve kept in my collection. No idea why other than for old times sake!😄 I just saw it in the job lot and suddenly remembered my old one.

I used to make off road tracks for it in the flower beds. I’d make mud pits and all sorts, nothing could stop that old Rangey!!
