Nor did I, needlessly* spend 90 minutes swopping cars between two cabinets and a stack of open shelves.  So now my Film/TV cars have a little more space around them, as do my Personal collection.  My repainted American cars are a bit squashed-together, but considering they were previously in the roomiest cabinet, that isn't much of a surprise.  I might have to do some more yet, because I think I'd like a bit more space for my ambulances now...

There's that pop-up trailer I was talking about, I knew I used to have it!

Pic was taken probably 15 years ago, had a bit of a life laundry after that and sold all those Hot Wheels as well as my Beetle and Bus, plus a load of other changes

This week some more Lone Star models appeared after a Post Lady visit.  Yes, she is still around and as friendly as ever.

One is the seemingly uncommon Alfa Romeo [Giulietta] Spider.  Uncommon, in that it still has all its opening things and it does retain both its headlamp jewels, being an early Impy with the steering chassis.  Pleasingly, the paint is reasonably unscathed.  Steering wheel has escaped, have a similar Lone Star donor.  Will need to do something about fabricating/donating a screen though, as I hoped (assumed!) it was the same as fitted to the Rolls Royce that Steve Flowers recently introduced and the eBay trigger finger was applied.  Never mind, it was bid to just £4, a surprise!

WP_20230105_22_16_37_Rich.thumb.jpg.4577e2613250550b93b599c343f12e85.jpg

Also separately was the Jaguar MK X, a Flyers range car with the wheels I prefer.  It has more chipping, but also complete with all its opening things and nothing missing.  It is also much nicer than either the Matchbox or Husky offerings.  Even better than that it was BIN £1.99 !

WP_20230105_22_18_55_Rich.thumb.jpg.8ba486f266864f47c73eadde6daa907e.jpg

Scaling is a bit off though.  The Jaguar states 1:64 scale, but measures to 1:67.  The Alfa just states 'scale model' and measures to approx 1:51, so perhaps it was intended for the larger Roadmasters range rather than Impy?  Perhaps they worried the American market would find it too weedy.

WP_20230105_22_18_21_Rich.thumb.jpg.834fa0981c4a436f8ebd9a82ebba6237.jpg

Tiny Tom wonders why I am buying Lone Star examples when I told myself I would clear out the small cars and concentrate on 1:48, or not at all.  I blame you lot.

^^ Lone Star Alfa Romeo got scale measured here

Paragraph 4

measures to approx 1:51, so perhaps it was intended for the larger Roadmasters range rather than Impy?

I don't remember ever having the site hut with the regular wheels truck I had as a kid, maybe it came to me from a jumble sale or hand-me-down? It still made for a useful little flatbed however, should still be in a box somewhere.

Do have a MIB Superfast version complete with hut, probably purchased back in the '90s when no one was very interested in them. I think that even has an elastic band still with it (which hopefully hasn't caused some unpleasant reaction with the plastic).

Don’t think I’ve ever had one with the hut, always seem to be missing. See also, skip trucks! Loads of them around but almost always missing the skip. It’s taken me ages to find the skips for some of the older ones.

Yours hasn't got it, but the first version of the Larry's Towing truck (Ramblin' Wrecker) had Larry Wood's actual phone number on it - and loads of people called him! It used to be where the blue bit is above "Larry's"

That looks better than mine you did well to get them. These are great the crane is so heavy and just real! Also I'm jealous of the cage, I've bid on three so far and not won any!

You can get a repro ratchet, I just decided to be a cheapskate! I made one from aluminium sheet glued to a bit of soft iron wire, then glued onto the stump of the original. I'll see if I can do a template for you, but may be in a few days time as I'm out until at least Thursday. I also made the hook although I think the Steve Flowers one is pretty cheap anyway.

So did you work out what would be suitable replacements for the steering wheel and windscreen?

As for scale, that is a bit of a strange one and doesn't fit with anything else I have, but I believe your workings much more that Van Cleemput as he states the scale of the original Corgi 318 Elan as 1:42 & the 319 detachable chassis Elan as 1:40!

Do you know the scale of the Dinky Sprite?

The Big Book says

MGB GT 1:45

TR2 1:44

MGA 1:45

I always considered the Dinky Sprite to be around 1/48, but I could easily be wrong.
