I have been having some fun with tiny tat though, recently acquired a Matchbox King Size Gran Fury and a car trailer (from F1 set maybe?). I stuck a Mustang dragster on the trailer and then put them together and love the result.

IMG_7226.thumb.JPG.a44dbf11d45b0c1ff4d45d5a8ea965bb.JPG

I think it should have motorbikes on the back, but I don't care

The trailer is from a Superkings Dodge van and Porsche racing car combo. My brother had one which was his pride and joy back in the day.

As promised some more Land Rovers, this time from Vitesse

As is usual with Vitesse, they made one casting and then issued lots of liveries.

DSCF9934.thumb.JPG.61587e5535792f693a40666fbb64c9ec.JPG

As this is an early 1990s model it is a bit crude in both casting and detail. The proportions are quite good and they were a the lower end of the price spectrum.

Picked this up at the weekend.

No idea about it,apart it seems to be made from resin/plastic.

Nicely detailed, but the wheels dont turn.

I'm guessing it's a kit of some description.

More Land Rovering.

Lucky Toys series II and Britains series III

WP_20190709_19_58_22_Pro (3).jpg

Both near or at 1:32 scale.  The Lucky Toys one, despite being Hong Kong and plastic, is worth as much if not more than the Britains in this condition

WP_20190709_19_58_32_Pro (3).jpg

There is also this Series III, alongside a Defender.

WP_20230120_23_33_26_Rich.jpg

But it's not just any Defender.  It does this

There is also the ClicLac series III from Heller, a snap-together kit

Many variations on this to collect, this is only a start

Never seen one of those.  Came in kit form, or finished ready.  You can see from the thickness that it is resin and not plastic, didn't know that

I had another delivery.

Another big tick off the want list,

IMG_20230731_221230.thumb.jpg.70935e5a5efc6011c2210673428bab78.jpg

I've already got the MK3 Cav in GSi and Turbo form, but it's the early  SRi I've been really after. This is another one I've had to get unboxed as they're still a bit pricy in mint & boxed condition.

IMG_20230731_222122.thumb.jpg.0a49367c1caaee2f6e51b9f85431116e.jpg

IMG_20230731_222104.thumb.jpg.9c62c47a22b33bd695bf796d6f2f78ea.jpg

I just love the fact that Corgi at the time were brave enough to model subjects like this, at the time, '90s Vauxhalls didn't have as much of a following as they do now. The detailing on this is just lovely, I notice that they fitted actual seperate glazed front driving lights on this version, but sadly went for painted on ones on the GSi and Turbo, which looked a bit cheap.

IMG_20230731_221300.thumb.jpg.d4b4667a7511bdc56d3cc36a8416c55a.jpg

Obviously, being an early one, it's a different rear end to the other versions, with their bodykits. Like on the GSi/Turbo, the rear bumper seems a tad on the large side but not as bad, the grey lower trim shrinks it a bit. Three pretty different rear end treatments, standard pre facelift, bodykitted pre facelift, bodykitted facelift,

IMG_20230731_221444.thumb.jpg.f7b8c3e1a4e03e75525f229102592879.jpg

Love the badging decals on the boot,

IMG_20230731_221852.thumb.jpg.b64c0e18183f07d355d8c778bb2f8954.jpg

And the doors,

IMG_20230731_221734.thumb.jpg.354e4db2d04160fc02bc110fcef6358b.jpg

Great job on the turbine wheel trims too

IMG_20230731_222409.thumb.jpg.4b1bf4de057f5524aac3e1c260e1739c.jpg

Interior is a bit of a well known weak spot on these but it does look less half arsed and cheap in the light grey. The dash is well recognisable to anyone who's driven a MK3 (I've done a fair bit over the years...).

I reckon that out of the three road going civilian Vanguards MK3s, this might be my favourite version, by a close margin.

IMG_20230731_222646.thumb.jpg.7daa788085dcca996eeb92561ada6ec4.jpg

Only problem now is that I've now got almost everything on the 1/43 Holy Grail list now, which is a little sad. I suppose it's losing the thrill of the chase and all that.

Recent Vanguards releases have been a bit, er, uninspiring. I like an old Ford as much as anyone but there are only so many Mk3 Cortina and Mk1 & 2 Escorts a collector can stand! I fancy the Mercury Grey RS Turbo but that's about it. However Ixo, Solido and Norev have been right on it lately with a load of performance cars and hot hatches form the '80s and '90s so might have to go down those routes.

Might be more opportunity to nab more 1/36 Corgi and MB Superkings too...

Starter were a French company that made resin kits and complete models for sale. I had a Citroen GSA estate many years ago. It was a nice model but I preferred the saloon version that I got from someone on here about ten years ago so I sold it on.

Doubtful unless through specialist shops where they will be about £15 million. That said our local toy shop had the ‘Best of France’ in with the French only VW transporter in Sapeurs Pompiers. The wife bought me one the other day, can’t decide whether to open it or keep it as is. Any ideas how to get in with minimal damage?

On a card that's gloss front and back, cutting the blister with a scalpel etc is your safest bet. Thinner/Acetone can't soak in from the back like the mainline cards.

I'm back in Derby tonight and hoping that shop has had the promised delivery, no doubt I've missed all the really good stuff in the mean time

Bought a crew cab in Sainsbury's

Also picked this up - a 50th anniversary Zamac Plymouth Duster in a brand new 9 pack - no idea how a 5 year old car ends up in a new multipack. There's no evidence of tampering

Yep, that'll be a Starter kit. Starter were one of the many French makers of 1/43rd kits. They made various competition vehicles in resin.

DSCF4675.thumb.JPG.e76d55e29b544ec24a77cb61252f1e2b.JPG

The castings were good including the interior.

DSCF4676.thumb.JPG.53ce39479694e12f820db393c57a0d00.JPG

Some had photo etch details

DSCF4674.thumb.JPG.79316a5327e7f7f2c05f5de3b1a3887a.JPG

and various other parts

DSCF4677.thumb.JPG.93b10132dbabb77f70ffea99c4400824.JPG

The decals were excellent, and a lot of kits could be built into various versions.

But the instructions were basic, mostly consisting of just some colour pictures of the finished model.

I notice all the price labels are French Franc, so were around £26 at the time

Works to be around the £90 mark in today's money

Just seen two on 'bay with UK sellers at £10 mark, which isn't far off the shop price.  Will have carriage on top, but then the car park fee and petrol would bite too

Hmmm....   trying to talk myself out of it

Yes mid 90s pricing.

Current 1/43rd kits in metal of resin vary from around £40 to over £100, depending on the detail.

I bought a couple of these Stars and Stripes Hot Wheels from Jadlam  while I was in Somerset. There are 10 in the series which form a flag if you line them all up but they didn't have all of them anyway, so I just bought the two I liked - funny enough one is the Thruster Duster like the oddball 9 pack one I found earlier
