A while ago I mentioned wanting a Matchbox King Size Charger and @danthecapriman pointed out a job lot on ebay. I put in a bid for not much more than the Chargers had been selling for and amazingly I won it!

The Charger is the only one I really want, but they are all in super condition if a bit dirty and in need of a trip around the sink as someone is fond of saying...

IMG_7112.thumb.JPG.4ca89ae75ccdc9d9658242146c5dd3c2.JPG

The fire engine is almost mint, but I still have my childhood one just missing a couple of tyres

IMG_7113.thumb.JPG.f41161d8285cbe9c23e647842354abdd.JPG

This weird thing is kind of cute and just a couple of paint chips

IMG_7114.thumb.JPG.6ef5efcd40d562a374b3ebadcecff28d.JPG

Can’t say I want to keep it though...

IMG_7115.thumb.JPG.a94314f12ff3ca5f0ee4e2cb4f5f348e.JPG

I got a dragster version of the Charger in a small job lot of three as well. Quite a few differences, the dragster has B pillars and the doors are a much simpler casting without the scoops and hardly any shape at the top that’s evident on the original. I don’t think it has door handles either. Obviously the wheel arch has been cut out too...

IMG_7116.thumb.JPG.8a9de5d9ba7a0fb7de80f2f3b5b8f9ea.JPG

The other cars in the job lot were these, a Crapi II and a Golf. I didn’t expect to like them, but I do.

IMG_7117.thumb.JPG.e2102c474f8968bf6b03c66bd42f8442.JPG

The Golf is more or less mint and the Crapi is very good mainly just some black paint missing from the roof.

IMG_7118.thumb.JPG.79f73a45208cbd03df5276bab825fdec.JPG

I now have a few Matchbox King Size

IMG_7119.thumb.JPG.49b91732bdd4a2446af2097ba16f83af.JPG

I’m not sure what scale the Capri is as it seems big compared to the Cougar and Charger

IMG_7120.thumb.JPG.122a94bd7640c71ea7737ce4363e4155.JPG

Talking of which, these are my favourites.

IMG_7121.thumb.JPG.e41923ec9c435acfa15cf30e580059ed.JPG

The Cougar is one of the few King Size cars I had as a kid, mine disappeared and this was bought recently.

Haha! Glad you got it! I did wonder if you’d won it as it was in my watch list.
Some nice ones there, but you’re right, Charger is the ‘one’. Those old Kingsize versions are lovely.

Actually not a bad little glossary of Norn-Iron speak - you'll get an excellent flavour of some of the more colourful expressions of the type my grandparents might have used.

One bone of contention might be that it uses the townie definition of 'scundered' - in Belfast, the word might mean 'embarassed' but everywhere else it means 'fed up'... no idea why it's used differently!

'Banjaxed' does seem to be catching on elsewhere too, and I for one happily encourage it.

I'll be posting some stuff from the box of doom I got from a car boot a while back, there's the remains of a D Series in there which you showed an interest in20230405_184205.thumb.jpg.6b8239f28007888942985d4941f76b50.jpg

My word, a Thompson Mongoose still with its front boot lid too

also of interest is the Corgi Capri, I still don’t have one, even a banjaxed one

Early colours DAF Transporter and Ford H Transporter too arghh scundered

Is that Pugh, Pugh, and Barney McGrew or Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb?

No no no, it is not weird.  It is a Commer BF and rather smart

Usually in blue.  Cream with new decals was 1967 only

I’d never seen them in any other colour than blue tbh. When I first found this one I assumed it was a repaint, but it definitely isn’t. Can’t be very many about then if it was a one year only?

The variations on the Commer Ice Cream van could keep you occupied for years.

Blue, 1st type decals, little metal wheels

Definitely Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub!  Barney was the driver and that would be Captain Flack next to him.

And it's SOUGHT after.  [/pedant mode]

I was never any good at English. It took me two goes to pass it at O-Level, and then I only got a C. I got a U in English Literature because I just don't get Shakespeare and poetry.

So this turned up last week, couldn't really refuse at a fiver plus postage.

All that's left of the electrical gubbins inside is the motor, steering motor and a few bulbs.

It's a decent size at 40cm long so about 1/8-ish in scale.

No idea what to with it but the mrs has just said she has waterslide decal paper for her Cricut...

I went to my local car boot sale this morning which I haven't been to for years. As expected it was full of rubbish. Manky tools, ancient toys and dog treats. I was actually there looking for a few tools but as above nothing worth having.

There was one guy selling 1/43 Bburagos from the 1990s. I picked up a Tipo, Punto and Cinquecento to go with the 1/24 scale examples I have. They were dusty but in good condition however the seller wasn't moving at £1 each. That's not a bad price to be fair but it's not really a car boot price and I didn't want them that much, so left empty handed.

Might be able to make the set back up!?
