Is that Pugh, Pugh, and Barney McGrew or Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb?

 the most sort after version.

Definitely Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub!  Barney was the driver and that would be Captain Flack next to him.

And it's SOUGHT after.  [/pedant mode]

I was never any good at English. It took me two goes to pass it at O-Level, and then I only got a C. I got a U in English Literature because I just don't get Shakespeare and poetry.

So this turned up last week, couldn't really refuse at a fiver plus postage.

All that's left of the electrical gubbins inside is the motor, steering motor and a few bulbs.

It's a decent size at 40cm long so about 1/8-ish in scale.

No idea what to with it but the mrs has just said she has waterslide decal paper for her Cricut...

I went to my local car boot sale this morning which I haven't been to for years. As expected it was full of rubbish. Manky tools, ancient toys and dog treats. I was actually there looking for a few tools but as above nothing worth having.

There was one guy selling 1/43 Bburagos from the 1990s. I picked up a Tipo, Punto and Cinquecento to go with the 1/24 scale examples I have. They were dusty but in good condition however the seller wasn't moving at £1 each. That's not a bad price to be fair but it's not really a car boot price and I didn't want them that much, so left empty handed.

That Bond Range Rover had a trailer in a set new. I found the trailer in a job lot I got a while back, which someone on here had off me. Can’t remember who though? @Jon??

Might be able to make the set back up!?

Yes, I think that was me, bought for my brother. I'm pretty sure the RR we had as kids is still knocking about - and hopefully the glider and horse's arse casting, too.

Ours was burgundy though. Don't remember seeing a red version before.

It took me ages to work out what that trailer was! It’s most likely older than I am!

Boot fair was rained off today so we pressed on to a toy fair...

As usual Mrs Concern spent more than I did, but I'm still very pleased with my haul.

IMG_7125.thumb.JPG.f0bd9875d4bb04df791c8c794ecbb998.JPG

I'm a bit jealous of her Corgi Karrier Ice Cream Van.

My stuff I've been after for a while, a green Dinky Hillman Wimp just like I had as a kid and my dad had a real one (slightly different green) . A nice Corgi Corvair a slightly bent Corgi racing trailer which I've bent more or less straight again. A King Size Dragster version of the Cougar which I'm interested to compare with the original version.

Lastly the three Corgi Minis all of which I've been bidding on ebay for with no luck, got these for £5 each . The Maroon Mini MInor was one I had as a kid and have lost, the Whizzwheels Minor I've been after as one of the alternate models sometimes sold in the Tri Deck Transporter Gift Set and the van I have wanted a green (as opposed to Police) one to replace a lost (well I do actually still have the base plate!) childhood one. You may remember I bought one at a boot fair last week and it had the wrong (Austin) grill.

This one was very dirty

IMG_7126.thumb.JPG.365d6f153ea3977591fe8d92baed0eb0.JPG

Bit has the correct grill

IMG_7128.thumb.JPG.5e83fc0fc4e09076ef193b58007163f4.JPG

I did wonder if the red paint would come off with some cellulose thiners

IMG_7129.thumb.JPG.7b3af78847f9114ea0c31f7f25564840.JPG

Hmm, interesting

Pale grey under the red, then original green

IMG_7131.thumb.JPG.7c0621656384fd25f7b27ca1ef8e8cbf.JPG

Most of the original green is still intact

IMG_7132.thumb.JPG.364cb254d2b2a708c4ce20ec60f76e84.JPG

Tip: don't get cellulose thinners on open cuts on your finger...

IMG_7135.thumb.JPG.1a82e82ff288301471cb552298444398.JPG

Most of the red is gone and I couldn't see due to failing light in the shed a bit of the greay is left around the edges

IMG_7133.thumb.JPG.9db74c45eb20428be5f54395ada3862a.JPG

I did mask the windows

IMG_7134.thumb.JPG.6b9e006249f9b75b0beff55b746eff0d.JPG

I thought if the windows get etched I haven't really lost anything as I'd be taking it to bits anyway if I was to re paint it

IMG_7139.thumb.JPG.113b29db61cf199cf206e5b90d1b902c.JPG

Not bad...

IMG_7138.thumb.JPG.9f25fe00d3a6b465b83015644c277eb6.JPG

The windows are a bit etched so I'll try some wet n dry on them later, but unfortunately I think some is on the inside, never mind

That's an excellent result on that Mini van! My brother had one, though not sure where he got it from, as the casting is at least 10 years his senior.

It never had back doors when I remember first seeing it - apparently that modification was my handiwork...

In my defence, I've got a police version and the back doors are incredibly fragile for a child's toy. I have to be careful when handling it, even with 40 further years of manual dexterity experience.

I had a half day work Teams meeting today that's been delayed or possibly even cancelled, so whilst I await an update and I'm sitting at the 'big computer', I might as well spout out some diecast guff.

Here's some photos of backlogged (in some instances, very backlogged) miniature acquisitions, some of which are from members here.

IMG_6406..thumb.jpg.f42181a7475ec659a8caa476a56d7a14.jpg

Nabbed this Spot On MG 1100 a while back from Trademe, which was pricey by normal diecast levels but affordable by Spot On levels. Nice little casting and the ADO 16 is almost as iconic in NZ as the Morris Minor, so a fitting choice for this side of the world. Don't think there were many MG versions sold though, as they would've been UK imports rather than NZ assembled, so much more pricey and infinitely harder to get, I'd imagine.

IMG_6427..thumb.jpg.fe1701fcdd1cf4b3ba9ce9a2f39596f4.jpg

This MGB is quite a recent find and has featured in a photo or two already. Got it from a retro sale for what I feel was a bargainous $5 (about 2 pounds 50 - can't find the pound symbol on this keyboard!). The Atlas van is also a recent addition, added to another Trademe buy, which in my mind helped justify the postage costs. But not really, as I already have another of these vans - albeit with a slightly bent body. Ah well.

IMG_6371..thumb.jpg.00fdc766cf6b02cf65618207e38afc3d.jpg

This Zodiac was a buy from York car boot sale back in October - again, not Yorkshire cheap but affordable for a Spot On. The Zephyr was another NZ icon back in the day, so another fortuitous addition to my needless hoard. I'm sure I've uploaded pics of this in the past but it's another house background shot, so thought I'd bosh it up.

IMG_6413..thumb.jpg.21ed885b3e8350dc359c48b3db3455cf.jpg

Here's an ex @eddyramrod Corgi Vanguard, hauled out the back of a Jag in a Cumbrian car park back in September. There's something about the disc wheels that makes many of these Corgis look quite a bit older than they are, which is endearing.

IMG_6420..thumb.jpg.aaf84fb7e1af14661a4947e6abb827ae.jpg

I'm not too fussed on these workaday castings being mint, as they emulate their long serving full-sized NZ variants.

IMG_6378..thumb.jpg.0cf75e1d89a00e716658739ee347a21f.jpg

Bit of a posh one here, via @Datsuncog and presumably the "World Famous on Autoshite" Friday Market.

IMG_6389..thumb.jpg.deca40606e76baceadd0386d37dce352.jpg

I'd love to find a news piece again, which I saw about 10 years ago, from Waiheke Island, circa 1991, just before WOFs (NZ MOTs) were introduced there. There were some absolute hanging units blezzing about! A Fifties Standard Vanguard with virtually no body remaining springs to mind, so this would've fit in no worries.

IMG_6396..thumb.jpg.8543f41ee39f9a17dfdf510d81d8adcb.jpg

Here's some more NI origin efforts:

IMG_6443..thumb.jpg.eaa2a7c9fc8afdc40f3e38bdb7d7d3d4.jpg

Not a fan of the later Dinky wheels but I'd love to own a Moke with 10" wheels in real life, so I couldn't turn this one down. Lovely paint shade, at least.

IMG_6450..thumb.jpg.9bf7fe957ccfb39c78d6e096f234f7c6.jpg

Much nicer wheels on this one, though. Even has the bit of sellotape added to retain the windscreen for its transcontinental journey, which I only saw after I'd packed everything away...

IMG_6435..thumb.jpg.ec197f202c61f0488cfa0e6fd2f9d1f2.jpg

Last one for now is this slightly murky shot of a PlayArt DAF. I've a mild fascination with the model choices of PlayArt, with their mixture of stolen castings and presumed originals, so I suppose I collect these, too. Great.

Update: Teams meeting delayed until tomorrow. Fortunately, it's sunny and dry outside, so I can get something more interesting done instead!
