It's been giving me the eye for ages on ebay, so I finally pulled the trigger on this little beauty.

Not sure why it took so long, as the real thing is one of my favourite car designs. I love that it looks like a concept sketch which somehow made it on to the road.

I'm pretty hungover so I'll keep things brief. All my usual Pilen enthusiasm applies. It's lovely, great quality, nice finish. I like that it's a very similar colour to the real thing too (I've only seen it in this shade and white, which isn't very flattering). Another one of those odd cars which had several models made, albeit all in Spain. Guiloy and Mira (in two scales at least) also had a go, but of course the Pilen is the nicest by far.

Went into Tesco and had a browse at the matchbox in there, surprisingly there actually was some, but nothing I really wanted- so I had a quick look at the premiums and:

It's only a bloody Capri! Didn't think I'd ever see one, really happy with it.

A couple more additions arrived this week

I really should stay off the local sites...

Both were around a fiver posted each

Late start to the boot sales today, as we were at a party last night. Not much in the way of interesting/comedy tat other than this

20220501_110310.thumb.jpg.76250f7d914b5d37ca08f9a1a295e1d0.jpg

Not a lot of cars to be found, I picked up a few interesting things from one seller who refused to budge from £1 a car, so I left quite a few. Those I did buy are unusual though;

20220501_134614.thumb.jpg.3cfd5f0e6449060dfcc3c26d9c5efe7d.jpg20220501_134630.thumb.jpg.d57d39da670a157f35c4a1039399e35d.jpg20220501_134541.thumb.jpg.74931f04946a5a33a2076a10c30e63e4.jpg20220501_134552.thumb.jpg.6a437a5c3a9796ca96249b6453c149ef.jpg20220501_134502.thumb.jpg.af92cf1ae5683760c92a288e5d468f47.jpg20220501_134511.thumb.jpg.4bca8d824ba046215c293ca7226ec820.jpg20220501_133951.thumb.jpg.a9f6d166d6f4a7c0b937d4de8cf81a5d.jpg20220501_133957.thumb.jpg.fbec6e9a3f2c29bd0ed8bf4c28a7c890.jpg

White Turbo II Supervan is probably the best find.

Other 25-50p finds include a green Field Car liberated from a box of plastic soldiers

And some Chinese made Corgis

20220501_134324.thumb.jpg.89913be7c7ecaad04e4dc7e626aaaabf.jpg20220501_134246.thumb.jpg.085f2e22b24d8ae9b265bd16548557bc.jpg20220501_134256.thumb.jpg.3b4939d2e2be3b4d9934a309698d2247.jpg

Most expensive buy was £3 for this boxed, unbranded battery powered tipper truck

This Ertl General Lee came out of a box of assorted cars donated by @DoctorRetroa while ago if memory serves.

Ertl General Lee Resto customErtl General Lee Resto custom

Base was broken but it seemed complete and restorable. I got a bit ahead of myself and bought a set of decals from the USA via eBay, before really checking the condition of it.

Ertl General Lee Resto

I fixed the base with superglue/baking soda. I had problems with the paint, the orange seemed to want to take on the texture of the fruit, and I hate sanding paint in case I go though it. I got lucky this time but I'm still not pleased with the finish after lacquering. Putting finger prints in it because I'm impatient didn't help!

Still, looks alright, original wheels were long gone so a set of Hot Wheels rims that look kinda like a big version of the real ones were fitted instead, giving it a bit of a resto-mod vibe

Today’s flea market finds. What really got me excited  was the Polistil Land Rover and the Ford Transcontinental. The Honda Accord is by an unknown maker. The FSO Polonez and Izh 2126 is by a for me unknown Chinese maker. 6D264740-F750-4975-8A12-C8C20997AF7F.thumb.jpeg.66c6a5e709306f50d5a7a5015480a129.jpeg

That Honda is great! Nice boxed Capri too. The FSO etc look like the partwork ones that were for sale in Poundland at one time

I remember lusting after that orange Honda Accord for weeks in ToyTown toy shop in 1983.

Same story slightly further south. Hadn't looked for a couple of weeks but it was worth the trip today. Wasn't too bothered about the Golf or Civic very much but they happened to be there too.

I never saw the Golf. As a VAG licker (fnarr) I'm gutted. :(

Tried a different late start boot sale today, absolute rubbish, about 3 short rows of sellers and hardly anyone buying.

Thought we'd try Dunton again, by the time we arrived people were already packing up. Managed to resist the temptation of this Hoover

20220502_105221.thumb.jpg.05d865398f09238293b6cdd454255741.jpg

And this Mercedes

20220502_112500.thumb.jpg.63bdc70dc9caa2792c3339744923e1f9.jpg

Picked up a couple of small cars, Hot Wheels Gleam Team 959 is a lovely find

20220502_140545.thumb.jpg.076bd93e0a8e7de02bc1567d1e7994f6.jpg20220502_140506.thumb.jpg.65528b7b97668d1967164afd5830de4d.jpg20220502_140610.thumb.jpg.67190075e2e5d71232f31b4294ceec31.jpg20220502_140430.thumb.jpg.02343283d55dd03f2fed61943c29ff88.jpg20220502_140442.thumb.jpg.641201f119ea9afb3238725c2acb6a3d.jpg

That last one was from a £1 seller so various others stayed behind.

Spotted a Corgi Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino on a table with various other cars, in average condition with plenty of chips etc. FIFTEEN POUNDS! Sod that. Then I spotted he had a couple of interesting Tonkas, almost didn't ask as I don't want to remortgage the house (!) but got both for £10. The MK1 Golf is really pleasing despite the fading, and the buggy is the biggest size they made

A few bits from the last week or so

These two vans came from my favourite local charity shop20220502_134621.thumb.jpg.59f55567758ff8f506b79946d12a9272.jpg

These two Norevs came up on eBay when I was looking for something else.I put them on my watchlist & got an offer of 20 % off,so couldn't resist20220502_134651.thumb.jpg.79e33b6e057437f2fa0daa0d47e63664.jpg

The boxes are quite battered, but the cars are in very good condition20220502_134735.thumb.jpg.abf3dd2fa8ead01803b3e77fa7e3664e.jpg

These were the 1st ones I found at a semi reasonable price20220502_140159.thumb.jpg.b424639df2f7dee9ea94cb4a787ddbcd.jpg

Lastly, this Rough Riders truck was the only thing I got from 2 car boots today.I only bought it so I didn't go home empty handed20220502_135117.thumb.jpg.03cc396a36a4569609c1e0f33b245a16.jpg

I didn't think there was much chance of it working, but I put a battery in & was pleasantly surprised😁

Went car booting today, Bburago Alfa 75 purchased, not especially cheap at £2 but I’d wanted one for ages and didn’t think I’d find the carabinieri one. A bit battered but it’ll do.

Also at 20p each some early Super GTs. Quite like these, must have got 50 of them, there’s a stupid number of variations some of them quite scarce if they’ve got the opaque dayglo windows and made in the Uk
