anyone here have the Oxford diecast Invacar yet? I have one -received yesterday. released last week

There's a few in the Invacar thread. Mine should be coming tomorrow - very long-awaited as it should have been released in mid-late 2020.

I may have been dreaming but I thought I saw a shiter selling a collection of cars for £20 and a box of Corgis for £50. Can anyone locate this post or the seller?

I quoted from the £20 post, looks like they've been deleted

As far as I can tell, purple is an approximation of the Matchbox Lamborghini Marzal, yellow is the Corgi Chevy Astro I, the greens are Corgi DeTomaso Mangusta, blues are Corgi/Matchbox Alfa Carabo - but what is the red one? *edit* ID'd as a Fiat Abarth 2000 Scorpio Coupe Concept! - can't think of a toy version though?

I thought they'd be branded H.W. like the others I've found, but these are marked TF302 to 306

Finally starting to see the new cases in the shops. Had a great score in the entertainer where I bought about 21 cars for me and a mate. 2 treasure hunts and 2 of those limited orange and blue sierras.

Guisval, apparently. Dinky also did a large-scale version. Do you have 'originals' of all those other cars? Would be interesting to see a comparison.

Day off, too cold and miserable to play with customising toy cars so dug the scanner out. This one's a bit of a curve ball, Solido 1972.

Alfa Carabo fits in nicely after the Hong Kong specials earlier

Lots to like there. I had no idea Solido distributed Mebetoys in France at that point. I think the Mattel tie-in was already underway at that stage, although possibly not.

There's a lot of models in that Solido catalogue that I wasn't aware of and I'd like to find.

Also, this defines the imagined intended demographic and target market for all reproduction vintage model cars, Lledo, Yesteryear and so on.

Screenshot_20220404-173338_Chrome.thumb.jpg.c7b2082d0d7135a28fe5e0a3e2fc25bc.jpg

There's something faintly tragic about the aspirations behind the range. I did have a L'age d'or Citroen Traction and it was a lot nicer than a yesteryear and more of a proper 'model' with fine plastic details and an opening engine cover. The wheels were very accurate too. I no longer have it but I wish I still has as I really like the real car.

Going through my dwindling pile of unscanned catalogues, I wondered why I hadn't done the  Matchbox 1984 effort - it was because it doesn't fit my normal scanner, so I had to dust off the other one with a slightly larger bed, but this one crops off a few mm from each edge and is a pain in the wossname to use.

Hopefully the time spend messing about editing the pictures afterwards were worth it, some gems in here that I remember getting new, the green RS2000 set with the glider and trailer and Convoy Truck Stop set especially. I also remember having a Rough Rider, but don't recognise it from this catalogue. I would have been 7 at the time

Several mocks-ups to be seen too, notably in the Specials range.

I bought a few Solido Age d’Or when I was a teenager- Solido had much more interesting subjects, with an emphasis on 1930s-50s French and American vehicles, and I thought much better detail than Yesteryears.

Some of the subjects e.g. Facel Vega Facilia were pretty esoteric even for a manufacturer focusing on French cars!

Looking at the 1972 catalogue I will have to start keeping an eye out for the 1934 Voisin.

I will have to dig out what I still have from back then but I treated myself to this via EBay recently:

Think the Union Jack one was silver, but they could have done several colours.

My parents must have been really flush that year, I have counted about 50 items from there that I had although some were different colours so may have been from an earlier year. Great memories,  only a handful remain in my collection now though.

Looking for Solido I found a Corgi Mini I didn’t know I still had!

It also disproves my Union Jack theory:

Stickers are a weird mix of plastic and paper ones, although I think a couple on the roof were courtesy of my 10 year old self.

I'm sure that's the one I bought, along with the Matchbox Datsun/Volvo race set, and Peterbilt tow truck, when I won £50 on the Premium Bonds aged about 10. I was only allow to spend half of it too, more than £25 to get that lot mint/boxed these days!

I always enjoy seeing the oddities that sneak into the catalogue, the TP-111 twin pack with the Cortina and horsebox shows the 1.6 GL with painted headlights, don't think they ever came like this, the lights and grille are all part of the base normally - also don't think I've seen a Cortina on those later wheels either

The Tyrone Malone has the Race and Chase wheels on it, looking closely it's 100% the slot car version - this is repeated in several catalogues, again never made with these wheels/colours together
