Today I unboxed the Matchbox-Dinky Stag to compare with the Bond-partwork one...

They're clearly NOT the same casting.  So, that's one mystery laid to rest.  Now let's look at Ford V8 Pilots, just because I now have two.

Yes it's nice to have two, but I never really liked it in silver.  Now I have the beige one, silver can go, and I don't mind putting it in the box that the beige one came in.  Fiver plus post, anyone?  Or a black one as a swopper?  Like many, I clearly remember these in black, so that would be nice to have with the beige.  The silver doesn't feel like a period colour somehow.

Today's diecast delight is this Benbros 57 Chevy wagon, that despite subject matter is made in good old England

Dinky tanker. I have seen this described as either a Dodge or a Studebaker. i personally think that this is a representation of the latter. Dinky had a long production run with this model in various liveries. From 1950 to  '61

I have that MG6. Really nice model. I'm kicking myself for not going the MG3 to go with it, really. 1:16 is a slightly annoying scale, though.

It's obviously missing a shed load of the intricate details but.... possibly a plasticised knock-off of the  Volvo Tundra concept?

1979-volvo-tundra-concept.jpg

Squared arches and side strake line up. Plus retractable front lights and possibly some offset front grille arrangement on the casting?

Granted, it's tenuous but that's my offering.

Apparently - a Pontiac J2000! I've also worked out it's a Kai Yip casting, whether sold or stolen I don't know.

This is easier to ID

Can’t remember the tailgate but it had the rooftop and the correct martini car. They go for some good money. Typically though mine ended up in the bin along with a preproduction VW 1500, a genuine silver colour trial, not a faded pink one.

I was over the moon the other day when this finally came my way. Was eying it up in the display cabinet at work for years. With a price tag of about £26. Never committed to buying it but was close. Kept asking the parts guy “how much is dis?” Then mulling it over for a few days after before talking myself out. Until a few months back the parts manager had a clear out and gave this to the parts lad. I was gutted. He knew I wanted it and rubbed it in. Then he broke it (grill) and locked it in his filing cabinet. I kept asking him when is he giving it to me? Good home for it you see……. Then one day last week he gave in and now it’s mine! Detail for its size is epic. It’s now sat in the top of my tool box and puts a smile on a miserable workshop.

Picked this up for £4 at a little antiques/collectibles shop in town yesterday:

IMG_8614.thumb.JPG.4ab1b9cba9ca712815fb097318cdb0ac.JPG

I already have the original version with the fantasy cab, but this was straight enough to make a useful display stand for late '70s Superfast.

Photos taken outside the recently-closed local Vauxhall dealership. I believe it's the site of a longstanding garage which sold Vauxhall for many years, and also Bedford back in the 1960s/70s. Whether they offered TMs I don't know, probably just HA, CF and TK, but it's nice to think one of them might have made a delivery here back in the day.

The shop also had a shoebox full of boxed mid '80s Corgis, mostly the 1:64-ish cars/vans like Renaults 5 Turbo and Trafic, Rover SD1 etc,  but also a couple of the trucks (Volvo and Scania from memory). I don't know if he was up for selling them individually, but he had a price of £70 on the lot.

Progress also being made on the Monogram '57 Chevy rebuild:

IMG_8617.thumb.JPG.63a02e4413086b4fb2bd128a2a33c589.JPG

Most of the foil brightwork has been done, it went OK. A bit of silver paint required on the badges etc.

IMG_8619.thumb.JPG.0f5c4b9a75a6956ad0332cf5a9dc6a9a.JPG

I think I'm going to use these Centerlines from another Monogram kit, with semi-gloss clear to dull the shine - I don't recall them being polished back in the '80s. It'll sit a bit higher at the back as befits an older custom.

No - I have seen them polished but it doesn't look right, Centerlines should have a brushed/spun finish like a moon disc

I had to steel myself and cancel after I got the Monte Carlo Mini, but couldn't really justify the expense even though there are some I'd love, like the T Bird and Mustang, but also several I don't really want or still have in pretty good original condition.

I didn't know Corgi made a Westminster, my dad had one when I was tiny (see page 3 of Family Snaps with your old car in background thread). My toys mostly ended up like yours by the sound of it, they really got played with!
