I got a nice package from @Datsuncogtoday containing a lovely Matchbox Commer Ice Cream van & a Cararama/Hongwell  Volvo C30 in a rather lovely metalic grey.

The van is for Mrs Concern to put in the Summer House...

IMG_4322.thumb.JPG.48ff4da9b22c5d40faa70b3c61bc0f97.JPG

The C30 gets added to my collection of them and is my favourite of the 1:43 models

IMG_4325.thumb.JPG.e1df83c2a4292589d7df798fa83e1c01.JPG

The blue ones are also Cararama

IMG_4327.thumb.JPG.3922262e200a57b564f0e09a459ce5e5.JPG

The other two are both different and I cant remember what make they are, but not as well detailed as the Cararamas

IMG_4328.thumb.JPG.9b6fcf3f7725ff4576fac0af0cf56062.JPG

There is a strange clear plastic blister taped inside the box and I can't work out what it can be, any ideas?

IMG_4329.thumb.JPG.b37d5103aff60eeda7b578cc016e84a5.JPG

Other stuff I've not put on here

A Corgi Ramber Marlin with camping trailer and kayaks I got for Mrs Concern's Christmas present to go in the Summer House. I got each bit from ebay as they came up cheaply as the complete sets fetch silly money...

IMG_4323.thumb.JPG.08dc98fd7f3ad8c042f5fe8ee5e84da4.JPG

Little MicroMachines Jeep to tow the boat also in Summer House

IMG_4311.thumb.JPG.13e7663c8056c8e3afae4a31bce9b8aa.JPG

And a Corgi Monte Carlo Mini (repro). I had one as a child that I lost, it was found much later in the compost heep all corroded and with squashed roof so I fancied a new one

I think it has the wrong style wheels but still nice...

I couldn’t resist this Norev Citroën C3 XTR for £3 at a local antique/junk shop.

The level of detail in a 1:43 is great, it even has the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel!

Sadly it is missing it’s driver’s wing mirror, so I will have keep a eye out for a tatty ‘pound box’ Vanguards/Carama with a suitable replacement.

All I need now is for @Six-cylinder to buy a real one so I can sell it on for a massive* profit! 😀

Very pleased to finally secure an AD016 from Norev (they also did a Morris and MG version). Was not cheap, but I didn't expect it to be...

I'm a bit miffed, was outside trying to fix the FIL's car and missed the end of an auction I was bidding on - and lost.

Postie man dropped me off some new toys to cheer me up. I do have a decent Piston Popper but this was too tidy to resist

The Mrs just found this on a bargain site - Matchbox Superfast for £5 rather than £10 - I nose at these on Aliexpress now and again and that's bargainous.

*edit* having just placed an order, they sent me a link which entitles my friends (i.e. you lot) to 12% off too!

They're clearly NOT the same casting.  So, that's one mystery laid to rest.  Now let's look at Ford V8 Pilots, just because I now have two.

Yes it's nice to have two, but I never really liked it in silver.  Now I have the beige one, silver can go, and I don't mind putting it in the box that the beige one came in.  Fiver plus post, anyone?  Or a black one as a swopper?  Like many, I clearly remember these in black, so that would be nice to have with the beige.  The silver doesn't feel like a period colour somehow.

Today's diecast delight is this Benbros 57 Chevy wagon, that despite subject matter is made in good old England

Dinky tanker. I have seen this described as either a Dodge or a Studebaker. i personally think that this is a representation of the latter. Dinky had a long production run with this model in various liveries. From 1950 to  '61

I have that MG6. Really nice model. I'm kicking myself for not going the MG3 to go with it, really. 1:16 is a slightly annoying scale, though.

It's obviously missing a shed load of the intricate details but.... possibly a plasticised knock-off of the  Volvo Tundra concept?

1979-volvo-tundra-concept.jpg

Squared arches and side strake line up. Plus retractable front lights and possibly some offset front grille arrangement on the casting?

Granted, it's tenuous but that's my offering.

Apparently - a Pontiac J2000! I've also worked out it's a Kai Yip casting, whether sold or stolen I don't know.

This is easier to ID

Missing its plastic cover of course but I can swap that off another one.

Can’t remember the tailgate but it had the rooftop and the correct martini car. They go for some good money. Typically though mine ended up in the bin along with a preproduction VW 1500, a genuine silver colour trial, not a faded pink one.

Matchbox Yesteryears are just one step up from Days Gone By? They are certainly unloved.

I was over the moon the other day when this finally came my way. Was eying it up in the display cabinet at work for years. With a price tag of about £26. Never committed to buying it but was close. Kept asking the parts guy “how much is dis?” Then mulling it over for a few days after before talking myself out. Until a few months back the parts manager had a clear out and gave this to the parts lad. I was gutted. He knew I wanted it and rubbed it in. Then he broke it (grill) and locked it in his filing cabinet. I kept asking him when is he giving it to me? Good home for it you see……. Then one day last week he gave in and now it’s mine! Detail for its size is epic. It’s now sat in the top of my tool box and puts a smile on a miserable workshop.

A Naked Austin Westminster by Corgi. Made between 1956 and '61. Some damaged because I used to played car he .

That is a game of tag or it. Instead of us boys running around the school playground we would push our cars over the rough tarmac surface. The die-cast would not take the punishment so vehicles would firstly be chipped than then break a part. I have damaged many many cars that way.AustinCambridgeFront.thumb.jpg.fa6e05542ca5faac4842edfba6261694.jpg
