I don't know - someone posted it with a couple of other recolours like a blue Mr. Two.

Came home last night to some older boxed Matchbox, Hot Wheels and Corgi courtesy of @eddyramrod

Quite pleased with that SL as it's one of the ex-Corgi castings

I did also find a Matchbox MX-5 while Capri hunting

A few loose cars arrived too. Panel van version of the Hot Wheels 8 Crate is quite scarce, got one already but I fancy a custom version

Another variant of the Corgi 911

Bigger Corgis consist of the Saint Volvo, possible resto for this one to go with my Rockets version

And a slightly earlier version of the Chevy Astro II, mainly because the figures were intact

I think those top two are my favourite era of Matchbox, but they’re surprisingly hard to find these days? Loads of interesting subjects but you rarely find them.

They're a bit Marmite for me, Prowler is a nice one but the general quality of them under Tyco (?) doesn't seem to be brilliant, and the wheels aren't always really to my taste.

Maybe it's subject matter too, by the 90’s/00's a lot of newer cars weren't to my taste, whereas 60's - 80's cars float my boat more.

I’m surprised it’s all that popular in America, nobody would have heard of a Capri there wasn’t it an absolute failure in the US?

Puzzles me why they don’t sell the Hitch and Haul or the Convoys here either. They sell the Skybusters they seem to remain gathering dust on the hooks.

I thought they were quite popular over there, and according to reliable* wikipedia "At its peak, yearly Capri sales in North America were the highest for any import vehicle (except for the Volkswagen Beetle)"

Got these today. Mk3 and 5 Escorts.

IMG20220121160651.thumb.jpg.94605a7b8e655d939039dd5e9eabd541.jpg

The mk3 is identical to one I had years ago, NML722X I believe. I think I either bought it from or sold it to @trigger.

Unfortunately I dropped it when I opened it, snapping off a mirror.

The Mk5 is a Schabak. I'm not impressed. Blemish on the bonnet, dash loose and boot was so stuff I had to dismantle it to gently push it open from the inside. Windows are a bit wonky too. It's a cool model though.

I've also got a 1:24 Sierra sapphire, but no photos as that's a birthday present for my littlun.

ps. I know I'm supposed to be posting some models to people, but life has been unkind lately. I'll get round to it, but don't hold your breath. Might be easier to give them all to @bunglebusto sort 😳

That was my understanding too, that they weren't a bad seller over there. Fairly sure I remember reading somewhere (probably about 20ish years ago) that UK /European Crapi enthusiasts were going to the effort of importing cars/shells from the West Coast rather than weld up home market survivors.

@Datsuncog - a bit late to the party but can you add the Doosan shovel and the Christmas Commer to my stash please?

Ah, sorry, they're now all gone - the remainder were dropped off at St George's at first light this morning.

I've spent the rest of the day in a bit of a swoon.

Still. I'm hoping this clearout will give me the chance to do more stuff with models once we're moved somewhere else, so - trying to channel positive vibes.

Roadside furniture plus garage bits.

All the ones below are Dinky I think.

These too are Dinky.

I do not know who manufactured the roadwork set. The Slow Police sign and cones are from the Dinky Police Accident Unit. I had the one with lower half in orange. I no longer have that.

I could have got it completely wrong but I don’t think it had the same impact there alongside the Mustang as it did in the U.K., it was almost like a phenomena here.

Lovely!

I managed to wangle some NVR from a neighbour tonight and found some leftover cotton buds in the bathroom cabinet so I've had a crack at removing the taxi signs from the red one.  Fuck me, this is bud-intensive!  I need to go and buy some more.  But, it does work!  So to those who made the suggestion, thank you :)

There is a phase a man goes through when that happens.  If you're lucky it doesn't last and you get to keep some of your treasures.  Even if nobody else recognises them as such...

Fortunately here, you are surrounded by people who do, one of whom is DEFINITELY me.  There is actually a name for this: Autominology.

I've come back around since buying the little Fabias at the start of the year etc. I'm still on the hunt for a little red Astra (2004) I used to have, used to take it everywhere with me as a wee-er lad. It's nice to be surrounded by folks like yourself and the others who are "into" this stuff just as I am though.

I've got some really nice 1/43 stuff left, and a hell of a lot of 1/76 stuff since my model railway exists still, admittedly up the loft though. :(

You're in good company here, in both scales.

I will admit to a degree of envy towards those who can still work in the small scales; 1/43 is as small as I can really go now, although I am engaged in making smaller-scale models of some of my previous real cars, mostly because only the small scales are available.

I can work with most of the stuff in smaller scales. Housing kits by Metcalfe still give me the fear though! Trying to solder wiring for street lighting into my model railway was a task and a half due to my shaky hands, most soldering is a pig as a result though.

I ended up buying a lot of 1/76 since my Grampa used to take me to model railway shows three times a year, one in Irvine, one in Ayr, and one in Stevenston. 1/43 stuff was bought mostly when I was down in Blackpool annually in October, spending my pocket money on maybe a Nova or a Cavalier. :)
