If you're not into slightly iffy Chinese toy cars, you might want to skip this post. I had a moment of weakness after seeing some of the Temu finds shown on here recently, and hit the button on several.

Most are absolutely blatant copies of Hot Wheels, and the quality is...mixed. Barracuda has had something odd happen to the paint on the roof

Would the other BMW M3 be for sale?

Interesting but not overly surprised about the offy Chineseum models. They've always done iffy copies of pretty much anything. With tech, it's a 'mugs eyeful' looks nice but is literally the worst put together cheap tat they can come up with.

I am genuinely surprised about the Sierra Cosworth. Apart from the back end, it doesn't look too bad. A little more dark colour to the headlights and maybe a narrowing of the rear lights might make it more acceptable.

It's certainly a step up from the days where the models hardly looked anything remotely like their real counterparts.

Sure, I meant to get one for my friend, probably added it to my basket twice somehow. It's a nice thing but I'm happy to part with it.

Not a lot found at the first boot sale

Absolutely nothing at the second one, things are definitely quietening down

I went to the local boot sale this morning.
Sold a load of junk, but absolutely nothing worth bringing back.
Out of everything there were a couple of boxes of modern plastic toys - nothing whatsoever in there of any interest. &nbsp
Another stall had a small handful of Chinese 1:64ish cars but nothing of any interest.

Plenty of utter garbage around though! I’m sure most of the people buying stuff are hoarders. You see some of the crap they’re scurrying off with. One old guy bought a box full of metal joist hangers off us, yet looking at him (age & not very mobile) he’s never going to be up to using them!

@danthecapriman You can't judge!  Maybe his son or even grandson does loft conversions and Pops just saved him a bucket of money against Jewson prices?

Or you could just be correct, of course....

Never mind, better luck at future sales.

Indeed not. Any number of reasons for him buying stuff. None of my business anyway really😆

Sold two rolls of damp proof coursing, and two rolls of damp proof membrane too! And a radiator!

Couple of morning stroll poundshop buys, electric Cadillac and the Holden VF Commodore SSV.

The Holden is a cracker though with crisp tampos for lights that work well against the black, even though I think a brighter colour would suit it better. Wheels are cracker though, and both worth every penny of the £2 each 👍

Not too much to report from boot sales today, I nabbed a couple of white metal kits out of a £1 box

Those little OO gauge or 1/76 scale car kits are familiar. I’ve got the Cresta here somewhere but done as a banger!
Im sure they’re a small company like Springside or John Day/R. Parker. @quicksilver might know.

Posted

Canterbury Minature Commercials were produced for a short time in the 1990s. White metal kits mainly, some later bodies supplied in resin with base and wheels in white metal. Produced in 1:76 to match OO scale railway diorama

The bagged sealed car is of Wolseley 6/80, but it’s not a copy of the Budgie Morestone or the Benbros, as it has an interior cast-in where Morestones and Benbros had flat bases.

Likewise the PA Cresta, this one by R Parker, later through John Day models.

The Wolseley has the wrong base but it is from the Canterbury range as you can make out the logo at the top and off to the left. So it’s a factory shed! error

That Niva's absolutely phenomenal. It looks a lot more solidly built than many of the 80s/90s Soviet toys (I had a few with doors that were basically just tension-fit, and held on with hope). Loving the springs, especially - the kind of detailed touch that just brings delight, for some reason.

Well worth a tenner of anyone's money!

Had a little bit of time to spare this morning before a conference, so nipped into everyone's favourite ailing not-quite-a-pound shop over at Cityside:

IMG_20250623_0902522.jpg.b80df8afa7c2505fc9c10a33818459a0.jpg

Bit eclectic across release years, but there were a few more recent Matchbox Case G items - which was good to see.

Holden SSV and NYC taxi version of the Ford Interceptor were on my list; no sign of the BMW 7-Series or Morgan three-wheeler though.

IMG_20250623_0905112.jpg.cd5ef7f3acae8b5f1fc29fdf6025c453.jpg

A big tub of Hot Wheels too, but mostly older stuff and nearly all of it with completely trashed cards - dunno if wrecked stock from other stores ends up in this branch.

But I had another quick look before leaving and what's this...?

IMG_20250623_0903002.jpg.b9c01b0f962934b5ccdf011006d42799.jpg

Hiding right at the back of a peg of Teamsterz:

That'll do nicely. I've been hoping to find that Chevelle wagon!

Seems like there's some sort of squirrel-like collector locally, as I found a small cache of concealed Fiestas behind some action figures in this branch earlier in the year...

As for the CMC, it is a Wolseley body with an Austin Devon chassis.

CMC only did a couple of cars, most of their output was trucks and buses

They sell for about £5 each on ebay.

I'm not buying any models currently.

So here's the first of 3 I just bought..🫤

It's a Corgi Whizzwheels Silver Shadow Coupe'

I really like this model as I like the detailed interior & the colour. The only thing I would say is door fit  seems to be a problem on these as I see loads that are very misaligned -mine aren't too bad, one door being better than the other but not as bad as some i've seen.

I might have dreamt this but wasn’t someone on here restoring a Guisval Fiesta Mk1? I have got 2 of them both missing the same door (?) but otherwise ok. I kept them over as I figured someone might use them. Yours for the 50p I paid plus postage.

Another of my recent buys.

I think this is a lovely little model by Matchbox & i'm a big fan of the narrow superfast wheels they just look cool IMO.

Paint is a touch faded in parts but still looks good.

While on the subject of toy cars wanted by @Dick Cheeseburger I seem to remember you were keen to buy a Dinky VW Beetle from me a while ago. I recently got another one, not quite as good but for a third of the price.

It does have some weird dark marks that look like they were made with a felt pen, but they don't notice irl anything like as much as in a photo

It's actually very nice and I paid a reasonable £5, obviously you'd need to add postage if you want it
