I thought I recognised those wheels

Here is a VW LT effort that was also sprunged into life

20210311_180623093_iOS.jpg

It does this quite happily

The mechanism on this one is quieter though, the main racket is a cam flicking the light circuit on and off

The screeching banchee racket on yours will be dry motor bearings.  Pop a spot of light oil into the motor can (each end, not onto the windings)and let it work in.

Looks as much like one of those Jeep based light vans they used to do in Spain up until the early 80’s.

I got a couple of boxes today...

This is what was in the smaller box, from @Datsuncog:

...and the big one was from @danthecapriman:

^And the contents of the sub-box, a collection of spare parts.  I've smuggled a few of the cars upstairs already.

Would you like to see some completed projects?  We'll start with my newly-installed flatbed, on a Matchbox Leyland Ergomatic chassis; with a previous, more standard resto keeping it company.

These two are both freshly-completed; the Escort representing an actual vehicle I drove a couple of times about 46 years ago.

This is the Carer Support Cafe, open every Friday morning for unpaid-carers to escape their duties for a couple of hours.  The accommodation address I'm having these sent to belongs to one of my fellow carers.  So they don't mind me unboxing all these old toys.  They tend to be quite amused!

Yesteryear Crossley RAF lorry is lush!

Check quick if it’s a first release casting with 5 canopy cleats that made applying the sticker a bit annoying.  The recast had a cleat at each end only.

That Escort van is just like the ones we drove at Essex Water Company. Later ones were adored with orange stipes to make them more visible.  Some of the vans were resprayed on top of other colours. I remember one had yellow interior paint. I suppose it was sort of a British Racing Green.

The only image I can find of the fleet at this time show them in the background of this one of an RT in Romford. They were in the Depot/head-office.

If you are old and bald as I, you may recall this sort of thing from the catalogues?  I think only for a year or two around 1978

624153.webp.46fcc1bea0d2283a75e485fe2c5aec71.webp

A Corgi Buick [Century] Regal in plastic and measuring to 1:20 scale, presented as an 'INTERSTATE CRIME BUSTER'

Well, scratched that itch a while back, after a 40-year wait...

IMG_3126.JPG

One of a couple that year to have 'Sonic' controllers (the other being the Saint XJS).  For this one basically a loud mechanical click from a controller shaped as a 'Simulated Microphone' would toggle: stop > forward > stop > backward > stop > etc.  Oh, the excitement.

s-l1600(5).thumb.webp.cf300dcc26092291bbef74f43ee2847c.webp

Which in turn meant after a bit of repair/servicing, this sort of thing had to happen sooner or later

Yes, of course.  The Wife was out at the time!

I don't think you'd mentioned that before?  Did you get it working?  The motor drive rubbers had perished on mine and had to make some replacements

Seems to have extra '140' stickers on the fenders...  that are not on the box either...  so do you have a RARE OMG$$$ version?

Hurrah yes!  There was a driver.   Something to look out for in the odds and ends boxes

So, after two postings of this Husky Jeep in one day, had a hunt about to try and make it three before midnight...  this one is the sole one here and far from tidy, has that broken tow-hook too - but has the screen, phew!

Looking at it again, this one is a size above the others that were in the range during the period it was produced: 1967-69

It should be a Jeep CJ-5 (without use of the Willys brand as is post-64), which might explain why the base just states JEEP.  Yet the packaging stated otherwise

photos_69858201_56075021_87991863.jpg.8560f310417112665d532a45a9580a3d.jpg

Also measured it.  Overall, it scales to 1:64

Now to repaint

Find a head to stick on it.  Perhaps a lady driver?

So they are starting at £25 for a wrongly boxed model that is worth about £15-£20.

This is the correct box, with correct sticker on top of the perspex cover.

I went though a box of those ages ago trying to find the most Escort-like shape. Was not the Escort when I opened it, much disappoint.
