The Matchbox isn’t a terrible copy, certainly no worse than the early 70’s one that had some bizarre 2 foot added to its height. Further Matchbox purchased today, my youngest is in our family secret santa and she’s mad on cars so the 5 pack in Tesco fitted the bill perfectly. Both her and my nephew are both fascinated with cars which somewhat restores my faith in future humanity. It’s great sometimes to see them playing with my old Motorcity garage.

This Tesco/Maisto StreetKa arrived. It was badly listed on eBay,I thought it was 1/24 scale, but it's just around 1/43 scale which is actually better for me.It's no Minichamps, but not a bad model. It even has opening doors & a pull-back motor. Thanks to @bunglebusfor posting it on the miniature eBay tat thread 😀

Having a bit of a clear-out - and wondering if these might be of interest to anyone here?

Tamiya kits catalogue, from 1988 - complete, though the cover's split from the staples.

Yours for the cost of postage.

**TAKEN!!**

Giles Chapman's thoroughly entertaining potted history of the UK diecast car industry:

I got this secondhand, and it's lightly worn but otherwise very readable.

Again, available for cost of postage.

**NOW TAKEN!!**

Interesting little book in Italian, featuring a number of unusual models beyond the usual Dinky and Corgi:

Possibly suitable for persons who don't collect toy cars?

Also available for the cost of postage.

**ALSO TAKEN!!*"

Now, this one's a bit of a doorstop.

I was pretty chuffed with the Great Book of Corgi last year, and thought this would make a good companion piece. But, it's a bit different...

Plenty of great info, but it's more of a series of tables rather than a history of the brand, and there's so much military and aircraft stuff in here which doesn't really grab me - so I don't think it quite justifies its space on the bookshelf...

It's missing its dust jacket but otherwise very clean, and I paid £45 for it from eBay last year. The cheapest current listing is priced at £50.

Any interest at £20, posted?

Yay! I have something to post on the 1000th page.

Had to go to the local sorting office to pick up a couple of undelivered parcels. Nipped into Morrisons on the way and got a few more new Hot Wheels releases, pretty similar to bunglebus's haul.

So, I got home with the two parcels I'd been waiting for.

First up,

IMG_20211212_215147.thumb.jpg.6c69977e75008b718c4378833b28fd90.jpg

More Minichamps nonsense. Mainly due to the fact that although Corgi Vanguards are my preferred choice in 1/43 prices of those  seem to have got ridiculous lately, and it seems easier to pick up cheap Minichamps models. Plus as a fan of '80s/'90s Euro (and German in particular) tin, Minichamps have a lot more subject matter available!

IMG_20211212_215210.thumb.jpg.1e085dc169f754bca3d420e13b7a63e9.jpg

This is a variant I've been chasing for a while, but rarely comes up for sale. It's the E36 318iS, the follow up to the pretty legendary E30 318iS ("The baby M3 M8"). A lot of them tended to come in  2 door coupé form, but as can be seen, also as a 4 door, which I actually prefer. The iS pretty much had the show of the M3 without a lot of the go, although it was more powerful than the standard 318i

IMG_20211212_215240.thumb.jpg.effb6712e5d7f596e8eb4daaf1dc2783.jpg

Minichamps did a good job here, again making allowances for the fact that it's a model from the mid to late '90s. The iS came with the same front & rear bumpers, side skirts and boot spoiler as the M3, all modelled nicely here.

IMG_20211212_215311.thumb.jpg.6b7200761bd694d0cd74372b9777442c.jpg

IMG_20211212_215651.thumb.jpg.f6544c987c2d8d8951a753b2e2d7b1b4.jpg

IMG_20211212_215521.thumb.jpg.cac32b615098e2b8173a0e8003de5a0f.jpg

Sadly, unlike a lot of the Minichamps Mercs, all the windows are closed on this one, so can't photograph any interior detail, but the dash and clocks seem to be done well.

Pretty happy with this one, makes a change from all the Mercs! This model reminds me of an E36 I very nearly bought some years ago, in a nice Sierra red metallic with the full M Tec kit like on this car with full M Tec half leather interior. Like an idiot I bought a W202 Merc C Class Esprit instead...  This one should display nice with the light yellow Minichamps C Class AMG I got recently.

Second package of the day,

IMG_20211212_220113.thumb.jpg.b2eb4a3eeab862efe0a794e4478473e3.jpg

The good old Vanguards Mk4 Cortina, a lovely model, (slightly too upright C pillar notwithstanding).

IMG_20211212_220145.thumb.jpg.2e596b28caa9d130f7f102898533b85a.jpg

I got this one from an auction that had been running on Facebook by a guy whose uncle had died and left a large collection of Vanguards models. I bid and lost on quite a few but I was glad to win this one. Paid a bit more than I would normally pay for an unboxed Vanguards model, but it was still a metric fuckton cheaper than what people are asking for this variant mint & boxed on eBay.

IMG_20211212_220239.thumb.jpg.839ab1d5c1313c8c28640c9a119b8316.jpg

This one is actually nearly mint though, everything is intact including the easily broken-off wipers, front spotlights and rear fog light. Shame it's missing it's mirrors as it's still even got the holes in the doors, indicating that they were never even fitted. (This model came out when Vanguards had  returned briefly to the yellow cardboard slide-off boxes with the mirrors off the car, in a seperate recess in the plastic insert, inside the box.) So the sad truth is there are probably the box and mirrors for this car in a loft somewhere. No biggie though, as someone has just started doing 1/43 3D printed mirrors on eBay, with a 70s Ford style variation available.

IMG_20211212_220221.thumb.jpg.f97839f298ecb133d6999de416819503.jpg

I have been chasing this one for quite a few years. I already have a few of the Mk4 S models (my favourite Mk4), and this one is a bit special, being a replica of one of the Ford press fleet PNO Cortinas , as seen in The Sweeney.

swe41447vi3_6815.jpg.c007771017ad83f8f0017bd39469f828.jpg

Goes nicely with the Signal yellow 2.0 S with the very similar reg number, as featured in the Sweeney 2 movie.

That Cortina is another model I was lucky enough to get from my Mrs at the time the model came out, for just the retail price. Values quickly went a bit mental so well done for getting this one @AndyW201

Ah those 2.0S Tinas are lovely, do they do a Jupiter Red?

Not as an S, though as a Ghia...

Two spotlights and a bit of black marker, and it could resemble an S with a vinyl roof though?
