I started it as a quick summer holiday project, but the house move tookover and it too longer than planned.... It's the 1:24 Eunos by Tamiya. No engine detail but the suspension and underside is nicely done. Wheels are Aoshima accessory items. Now I don't have the flat roof with its outside view (and we're in the depths of winter), I made use of the light cube thing I got for my birthday. This is how the magic happens: The backing sheet needs a bit of tape to help hold it in place, but I can change the light colour and brightness as well as choose a different colour sheet. Could maybe knock-up some sort of garage/building frontage to put at the back? andrew e, bunglebus and Jon

Matte coating rather than gloss would help with glare and reflection from the lights but that said, it might be tricky to control, even in your fancy new box! bunglebus
There's a bit of a story to those two. Ebay seller had 6 different cars listed, i bid on them all but got outbid on all but two. I posted them on a FB page and the guy who bought the other four posted this pic - turns out the seller had the original box too Why he didn't sell them as boxed i don't know. The Escort still has the maker Kees visible on the base - apparently the original castings were made for Polistil by Kees.

My Granny bought me those as well as the other Polistil-esque set. I posted them up here a few years back. However they're a mixture of Matchbox knock off castings (Mercedes 500 SEC, Datsun concept car and something with a bubble shaped roof) there's also a Testarossa and the Lancia but I don't know where they are copied from. The 6th one I forget what it is, I think it could be a gruesome twosome. bunglebus

I don't think they ever sold their moulds to anyone else but I've found a few replicas in various scales. Its still chipped and scratched but looks quite good now. Just catching up on this - do you have any further details on your methodology, or is it simply bung it in and let it whirr away?! Any special solution, etc? And any before photos? Been thinking about buying an ultrasonic cleaner for quite a while now and this could be the excuse I was looking for! This was more by luck than judgement, mine is just a cheapie from either Aldi or lidl I can't remember which. I just bunged it in some tepid water and a squirt of washing up liquid and cycled it on the timer maybe 3 of 4 times and between the heat and the ultrasonic the paint softened and was easy to scrape off. No before pic I'm afraid as I really didn't expect to get that over paint off. I also have an Corgi A60 driving school car that had some over paint too, bunged it in,and it softened and took off all the paint, factory included! I didn't mind on this car,but on something I wanted to preserve in original paint you'd have to be careful. Most of the time I don't use it,just use an old toothbrush and warm soapy water. 1 hour ago, bunglebus said: Not much of the original red left, repaint or leave alone? Hard to say,can you get the black paint off easily? Will you be happy with a playworn example? I don't mind playworn in Dinkys,I think its a shame to drill them apart as the rivets are hard to replicate, but if you want a nice one a repaint Is the only way really. The underneath looks good.
