Now that 2011 is coming to an end I thought it would be an idea to post our resolutions for 2012.

Here's mine.

I promise to fix the wings on my Mercedes and spend some more time in the Autoshite Wirral Workshop.

I Quite Fancy the Idea of a British Jap ,Someting like a Triumph Acclaim,Rover 213,Rover 214,

or a 4 wheeled plasitc ,Reliant Rebel or Kitten

Or Mayby somthing Big and stupid like a Merc W123 ,Vauxhall Royale or Even a Jag XJ140,

Or mayby a old Camper Van like a Rascall or Fiat Amego ,

Or mayby another Allegro poss a Series 3,

So I think I will have some random Shite by the end of 2012,

Happy New Year Everbody :D

The big one is get the BX into something approaching usable condition. It's not far off, but needs welding, some mechanical fettling and (ideally) something doing about the knackered window/door seals. And it needs a track rod end replacing.

The 2CV needs welding before the MOT runs out in April. Not a resolution really, but at some point during 2012, we should clock up our 100,000th mile together. I'm looking forward to that. Might even give her a wash.

I'd actually like to reduce my car changing as well. 2011 has been a ridiculous year by my standards (if a quiet one compared to Wuv) and as I get charged £15 every time I change cars by my insurance, it adds up. Mind you, Peter James didn't charge me last time I changed... I would like to find the holy grail though - a nice slice of Autoshite that proves to be the ideal 'just get there' car. I've a feeling it might end up being something Japanese...

Need to put the S3 Landy back on the road.

Sell the TD5 discovery.

Then buy something really silly ......

Really need to figure out what to do with the Mazda asap. Bluebird needs the door rust sorting and alloys put on. Also want several different cars this year, at least one being British

Lay up the Bird while you deal with the door, then you don't rush to have it for work next day. Drive the Mazda, no car likes to be left. When you've done the Bird, flog the Mazda and buy a Maestro. Job, as the Transit ads said, Done.

Tentatively here....

Recommission the Sapphire.

Build and fit an engine to the 1970 Land Rover.

Rebuild a front axle for above.....

Start the long job of gathering parts together for the 1961 Land Rover.

Attempt to gain the true identity of the S3 combat chassis I was gifted.

Oh yeah, resolutions....

Sell off the fleet I have here.

Fix up the 323F and use it, for a while at least.

If we move back to UK, source an interesting old shitter from one of you guys. :D

Less food poisoning would be a good start.

2010 was my bumper crop of unpleasantness with 6 separate cases - the worst two requiring hospitalisation.

Three cases in 2011. Never good.

It would be nice to get my Amazon back on the road again. I suspect I'll manage this.

A 200TDi Maserati? Brave man!

:lol::lol:

After already having rebuilt the Mas's 2.8 biturbo lump once, next time it goes bang there's every chance I'll shit-can it & fit a LR lump lol

Finish the 604, take it to Chodmongly and flog it.

Get the Escort back from CZ.

Get the Jag properly mint again.

Buy a better welder

weld up a posts and inner wings on the BX

weld up a posts and door bottoms on the VW

weld up a posts and outer wings on the 1100

as well as making the 1100 work in the rain, the VW quieter and the BX suspension less leaky.

Keep an eye out for a Commer camper suitable for XUD conversion to replace the VW

Current 827 Sterling - Get it properly mint - New tyres/oil change/clean up the leather seats/more waxing and polishing ect.....

White 825 Sterling - T-cut/polish, sort tyres out, fit a better rear door (Sourced from my old 825 Sterling) cover it to keep garage dust off it.

Mk2 827 Sterling - Its fine where it is, maybe sort a couple of tyres, wash/polish it, re-cover it and park it back in garage.

Micra - Service - Oil change + Filter/Air filter/Spark plugs/Coolant flush

Garages/parts - Tidy up my garages, get more parts down there and neatly store them.

Try and snap more shite.

Obtain a replacement headlining for The Volvo or get the existing one re-covered

Sell my Coupe FIAT

Buy a City Rover. Preferably one with power steering.

Lavish some attention on the TD5 Disco.

Fix the binding rear brakes on my Volvo!!

Allegro - SOLD awaiting collection.

Mini - Get it back on the road! (I've said this every year since 2006...)

Maestro - Fix heater, paint wheels, sort some of the crusty bits.

I might replace the Allegro with something else, nothing in particular in mind but if something cheap comes up...

Mine are fairly simple so far:

  • Scrap the Ax/Saxo thing when the mot dries up.
    Recommission the Ax vts
Replace the brake pipes & front callipers on the Delica
Shit or get off the pot with the xantia; it is a very capable but ultimately dull car re-mot and sell or keep?
Perhaps buy something a bit sillier, if funds allow.

As we are experiencing a double dip recession at Pompei Towers, 2012 is going to see a Bumper Everything Must Go! sales extravaganza - the Fronterror Sport probably first up, and the Fiat Coupe 20v turbo, along with a load of Fiat 500 spares and memorabilia.

According to the financial pundits, next year is going to be as much full as gloom as this year, so I suspect that there will be few, if any, purchasing experiences. :(

Problem is the starter motor has gone and the MOT has 3 days left. Don't know if I want to risk buying a new starter then it failing epically

I MUST stop buying Lego/Lego related products during 2012....They are taking over the flat!

Fun-terror Sport? I was just thinking that I'd like to get back into a shite-worthy 4x4... Alas this does depend on earning some decent coin in 2012, which isn't guaranteed...

Sort the brakes on the Golf and MOT it. Break or just weigh in the Sciroccco. Get the Dedra a) rolling B) MOT'd c) back to base and hopefully into regular use and/or to Chodmongly. Simples.

Do a foolhardy road trip, maybe involving collecting a basket case CX from Bulgaria (see Scooters' New Year's resolutions for details, probbly).
