  1. Mines hardly run in compared to some mileages on here. It is a 2.0 hdi though so i think rust will kill it before the engine does
  2. I have a friend (yes really ! ) who is rebuilding a Mini pick up and is looking for a engine to rebuild Looking for any of these. Mini 998, Metro A plus, Mini 1275, Austin, Morris, Riley, MG 1100 or 1300 or a Allegro lump As long as it suitable for rebuilding, thats all that matters and can be be dismantled and would consider incomplete engines, heads.etc So what have you in your shed, under the bench etc that you keep tripping over and want out the way ? Thanks
  3. Lexus embossed folder 240mm by 210mm. Free if anybody wants it for the postage of £3 before it goes in the bin
  4. Is the crank in the zx engine the same ? You could then replace all rods and crank in one go and possibly replace the shells if they are cheap.
  5. I have a 82 diesel family estate in the garage and it was brilliant with a young family, dogs etc. What you could put inside was amazing and it was super relaible. Its broken now. Might be available in the new year to the right person
  6. Having worked in dealerships recalls never seem to close and the manfacturers keep a small stock of recall parts. Dealers like them as it good easy work that they get paid for and the dealer possibly has a list of cars in the area with outstanding recalls. All cars going through a dealer shop be checked for recalls and tech updates if they are on the ball. I recall getting parts for a 1990ish Shogun about 5 years ago so if get a recall take it in. My sons 2003 RX8 has just has had a couple done to suspension and fuel pum. You can check on the dvla website for recalls by reg number.
  7. Thanks for all the suggestions. Fault now identified so i thought I should share with you. Electric vacuum valve was in op and was replaced. The glow plug relay was also leaving a fault code on odd occasions and was masked by the egr. Strange i know. Opening the door on a lot of cars wakes the the glow plug circuit an speaks to the ecu to expect some action. EML has been off been off a couple of weeks so perhaps just a running in fault as its only at 173k
  8. Anybody have a use for this Marina factory manual for the cost of a fiver postage. It weighs 3kg plus and is the the size of a telephone directory. Younger members might have to look that up !
  9. Wish I had never sold one of these 1930 Aston
  10. Thanks for the pointers guys, will go and have a play. Will ask the mot man if light needs to go on and go off or is no light acceptable.
  11. Just a cheap secondhand reader I bought off the forum. It says P400 and P402 as faults Would prefer to fix it rather than scrap it usefulness far outweighs it scrap value
  12. First post really but i need to pick the brains of you lot regarding the EML light. Its been on 8/9 years and passed every mot and the code reader always says Egr fault. It has had a new egr valve , vacuum pipes and the electric valve over the years and none of it has made the difference. Dont know what else to do. Delete codes and it comes back on within 2 or 3 starts. I know its a picasso and I am going to some witty answers but the reason I need to fix it is that when Tigerfox Snr (he is 93) requests a ride out it is the only car suitable. Also use it as a van for tip runs etc so dont want to scrap it. Mot runs out in March and will fail and yes the sills are buggered Awaits replies with interest !
  13. Couple of unpopular models here. Corsa B, the 3 cylinder one left by the kids, and also a 04 reg Picasso but it is a 2.0hdi in its favour and is used as a van
  14. If the head gasket is solid copper it needs to be annealed before being reused as they are quite thick. Used to have a vintage car that had a solid copper gasket. You can also get a aerosol of copper gasket cement to use instead of jointing compound. I suspect it is copper asbestos from what you describe and would be best to replace it
  15. Has anybody got a video inspection camera that is no longer used ? I need to look inside bike crankcase that wont come apart
  16. Although a newbie on here I wish you a swift recovery. A shame your cars are going but you never know what will come along when you can return to the road.
  17. Hillman Hunter and badge variants rear wheel bearing, part number 45. Its a RHP one but i cannot make the number out, any use to anybody for the cost of postage ?
  18. When Quantum came out the oil was Mobil and Esso. When longlife servicing came in Castrol got the contract as at the time their oil was used on the production line. Quantum is a VW uk brand or was until I left working for VW group. Many dealers use oe parts from euro and the like to retain customer business and offer a non franchise part to give the customer the option of two repair estimates. Also when service parts are in short supply you can often get the same part from a factor when not available from the manafacturer. Had to do it many times.
  19. They are either a Michelin or Continental brand. Had them on my own cars and sold them for years when I worked in the trade without any problems that I can remember.
  20. Having a clearout and found these. All in good condition £3 each inc postage. Nick
  21. The Jowett Club are now aware of it so hopefully it will get rescued.
