Dream Driveway

I just did a search of the site, and can't believe we haven't done this already.

Let's say you just won a million on the lottery. You are replacing your entire fleet, obviously, and you'll need to keep money back for holidays and stuff, and probably a big party. So your driveway has room for four vehicles. What are you going to fill it with? You can buy new, old, British, foreign, it doesn't matter, as long as you don't spend all the money.

I'll start (and may possibly put in a revised selection sometime; I reserve that right)...

iveco-daily-3772481_b_7f09df6c6e409971.jpg

Iveco Turbo Daily. Plain white, probably in a slightly smaller size than this, but you get the idea. I've done many a mile in the ol' Daily and found it a perfectly acceptable place to be, unlike certain other mass-market vans that are available. Would be rather fun as the daily-driver, and white vans are invisible, aren't they!

42.jpg

1961 Vauxhall Cresta PA. I can't think of a more beautiful car built on this side of the Atlantic, so this is what would do the "Sunday best" duties. Preferably an automatic, in maroon and grey, with whitewalls. Obviously!

*I've just noticed that this has the 1960 bumper and lights, but 1961 rear wings (no indicator in the fin end). And it's automatic! :D

Morris%20Mini%20Pickup%20front.jpg

Mini pickup. I've always wanted one, always. The only question, really, is how far to go with the mods. I know a restored-to-showroom one would be inhumanly basic, but once you start....

vwater017.jpg

TVR Griffith. I think so, don't you! Top-of-the-range Boy's Toy. This is one car I simply wouldn't have a stereo in, nor would I ever have the roof up. Your right foot supplies all the soundtrack you could ever dream of. And they were made in Blackpool! I used to drive past the factory twice a week, or more!

Anyone else want to dream...?

Being an unimaginative sort, my first car would be a Rover 213, for that silky smooth Honda engine:

rover_200_silver_1980s.jpg

And then the one for the weekends would be a Vitesse:

Beat that for aiming low.

I thought we had done this before - no matter though as depending on my mood the list changes.

Early Mini or Mini van for a reminder of how a basic vehicle can be fun

We have done this before but as Rootes says things change.

I have a massive soft spot for 50's Amercian Pick Up's like the Chevrolet C3100 and most of all the Ford F100 models, I helped a mate with some bodywork on his '53 some years back and have dreamed about them since.

And lastly I guess I'd have a Aston Martin DB6, If this doesn't say you've got style then nothing does.

Albert, please tell me you'd be painting that deuce! Great idea with the De Soto btw, hours of fun!

I'd go with

Has to be in Gussett Brown.

My 1.1 was quick enough at 17, a GT would be awesome

100club.jpg

I already have this, but really really really must get it on the road. 100 club princess, 2.2 litre auto, special paint scheme, purple velour interior, electric windows/sunroof.

The list of shite I'd have if I could afford this lot is endless, but needless to say there'd be a couple of bits of prime Autoshite in there. Or if 911's and XJRs aren't in the spirit of things.

Certainly Pete, anything you fancy. If you want a 911, have a 911, with my blessing. Enjoy it in good health. :D I know these lists are going to be extremely personal, that's fine. I think I've set a roomy enough budget, and four cars should be enough for most people, even Shiters. Except perhaps Mr Bickle!

That's too many i know, but my drive and front garden would be a petrol filling station so who's counting!

Good call. That one a Lancia badged as a SAAB. Mechanicals shared with Strada range. Trim can be found over the water. Have you seen the GTie for sale on eBay this week? It's silver too. You can live the dream today! Well, ok, Sunday.

Grand tourer would be a replica SWB with a modern 300 BHP diesel:

My dream:

alfaromeoarna5door2.jpg

This lady lives up on the mezzanine of my dream garage.

Said garage will contain this ARNA.

Out front (as this dream garage of mine would be at this quayside), that boat is fuelled and ready to go out for a spot of afternoon fishing whenever she is ready.

I hope you can understand that in my dream I only have time for one car.

in order to blend in with the crowd and be un-noticed my daily drive would be something simple like this

accord_615x300_2011_05_19.jpg

my weekend runaround would have to be one of these

S-Jensen-Interceptor-FF.jpg

and if i decided to don a white suit with massive flares to attain the 70's pimp look  then i would jump into one of these

transam.jpg

and when i got pissed off with the neighbours and needed a break it would be time to roll out in this

If I'd won the lottery, I'd obviously need something a bit classy, so let's get that out of the way...

Bristol_411_h-m.jpg

...but, to compensate for the Bristol 411, I'd still want something with some good shite factor - and, apart from the fact it dropped to bits, the Rover 820 Vitesse is still the best all-round car I've owned...

m:FitPad

I've always had a big soft-spot for the Hillman Hunter GLS - and having the pleasure of seeing fellow forum member Maxustaxus's example the other day only reinforced the feeling...

page1_good.jpg

And of course, I'd need something to cart stuff around in so I didn't damage any of my cars. What else?

I like the way the Autoshite lottery win involves having to share the thing with at least four other people. Clutching the cheque for £1,000,000 I'd get these:

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II. It would have to be the series two and would have to be gold. Perfect for luring disco dollies to a life of vice. I wouldn't go anywhere near any midgets in it though.

as1.jpg

Peugeot 604 - you've just got to! I'd be picky and choose an earlier one than this, either an SL or Ti automatic.

604_Ti_1975_18687.jpg

ISO Fidia automatic. Oh yes!

isofidia.jpg

Jaguar Sovereign. I wouldn't need to buy this - I'd just keep my own. I'm lucky one of my favourite cars doesn't need a lottery win to own.car685.jpg

Another vote for the Hunter GLS.

I've been looking for one of these in any condition for several years to restore and give to my Dad for his 60th, I have 2 years left and its not looking too promising :D

Because, well, because I always wanted one (would have to be absolutely concours condition)

modelpicture.php?id=3536

And my current Rover. But with thaaaaassands spent on it under the bonnet in a quest to create the worlds only 200mph Rover 800.

825a-1.jpg

Should leave me with plenty of change. So, maybe i'll have enough to get Vosper Thornycroft to build another one of these?

mtb%20brave%20borderer4b.jpg

Brave class fast patrol boat. Deltic powered. None left. Shame.

Even if I was a multi-millionaire, the 2CV would be on my driveway. Here's a shot of it, on a driveway (though not one we currently own)

DSC02496-1.jpg

I really must own one of these. Preferably soon. Though not sure I can afford one.

suzuki-710-1.jpg

Another one of these, just for the sound.

IMG_8213.jpg

V8 fuel slurping luxury will either be one of these...

625.jpg

Or one of these

Bentley.Arnage.Drifting.jpg

Until the next time I consider this question, at which point I'll come up with a very different answer. Looks like I'll have plenty of money left for fuel at this rate...
