Autoshite ambitions.

To my list I'd like to add a Gen 2 Honda S2000. For some reason half the internet think they're festering piles of shit and you'd have to be a mong to want one. Whoops. Apparently a shagged 15 year old Mazda MX 5 is a much better bet. Or something.

Also, a third gen Camaro IROC - Z. Mainly because I saw one burbling around the other day and it looked BOSS.

Nnnngh @ Sierra 4x4 Estate.

Yup, I'd have another one of those. I really miss my old twin-turbo one.

In full-fat 326-brake 500 flavour, please. Or, for the complete 'SoCal gangsta' look, a 600 V12.

And there's one for sale at a garage near me. For £5495. Arse. That'll be a weapons-grade, industrial-strength midlife crisis, then...

Hmm, the V8 one would be nice without that hideous bonnet bulge..

$5000 AUS, that's what? 57p? Then a couple of grand to get the bloody thing here. Bargainous.

Surely you could just buy a Mk2 Granada off a banger racer and glue a Renault 25 front end on yourself and save on shipping costs?

Posted

No the Falcon is a good size up. Granada is a bit weedy next to one of them.

It'll be about £2500 GBP to buy it

I've been thinking about this for the last few days as it happens. Partly as I'm only going to sell the R4 car if I can think of a suitable replacement. Otherwise its staying...

Stuff I quite fancy though includes the following

MK1 Renault 5 TS / TX

Renault 12 TS

Renault Twingo

SEAT Malaga / Ibiza Mk1

Mk2 Golf Driver / GTi

Renault 11 Turbo

Talbot Samba

Citroen Visa GTi

Peugeot 106 Rallye

Citroen DS

Citroen CX

Ford Escort Mk3 Ghia

Ford Focus Mk1 (again)

Some sort of campervan - Transit / Talbot Express?

Peugeot 304

Simca 1100

Plus theres a few new cars I'd quite like -

Renault Sport Twingo

SEAT Exeo

Alfa Giulietta

Much as it pains me to agree with anything Top Gear says...

So yes - perhaps more than any other vehicle on this site - it's autoshite!

Right. I've decided. There is one car I simply MUST own. I'd better do it soon really, as prices might rise one day...

I present the Mk1 Citroen BX.

While a BX GT Digit is the absolute ultimate...

Any Mk1 has a mental dashboard.

1982-86_Citroen_BX_12.jpg

They're getting seriously rare over here. Much as I loved my BX, there was always that nagging feeling that it could be slightly more quirky. They really did tone things down later on.

I have a crazy idea of owning at least one of every mass volume marque sold in the UK currently or until just recently. So far I've had:

Alfa

BMW

Citroen

Ford

Holden

Honda

Mitsubishi

Nissan/Datsun

Renault

Toyota

Vauxhall

Volvo

VW

So I tihnk that leaves:

Audi

Chrysler

Daihatsu

Fiat

Jaguar

Land Rover

Mercedes

MG/Rover

Peugeot

Saab

Seat

Skoda

Subaru

Suzuki

So still a bit of work to do

You neeed to speak to Dave Rutherford PDQ, he has a rusty one needing much TLC

A small 60's or 70's Triumph saloon, preferably a 1300fwd

Series 1 or 2 Allegro 1300

A40 Farina

Mk1 or 2 Humber Sceptre

Yeah, have seen that one. Given my lack of Bolloxesque weld skillz0rz, not sure it's a good idea to take it on.

This could take a long time, so I'll try and keep it brief. Hoping to get the Scimitar sold, so I'll have the funds, but still have no idea what to get next. This is because the next car could realistically be:

A Wolzcrab

A Land Rover Discovery Mk1 pre-facelift (maybe even an Mpi for ultimate misery)

A Volkswagen Transporter (it will be shite for my budget, so...)

A Citroen Dispatch (or Fiat/Pugrot)

A Citroen Bertilingo (or Pugrot)

Yet I really MUST own:

A Suzuki Cappuccino

A Vauxhall Calibra

A Vauxhall Astra Mk1

A Vauxhall Cavalier Mk2

A Vauxhall Senator

A Ford Sierra XR4/XR4x4

A Porsche 928 (yes, I am stalking Mike D!)

A Talbot Matra Rancho

A Citroen XM

A Citroen GS/GSA

Another BX (Turbo diesel next time please)

A Perodua Nippa

And that's just the ones I can think of immediately.

THREAD RESURRECTION! Wasn't the post I was looking for, but I'm amused to see how I've done since 2011. Four achieved. How well have you done?

absolutely none! And I've changed my mind on most of them ...

Posted

Rover P5,

Rover P6,

Rover SD1 in 4 cylinder 2000 cc variety

Triumph Herald, especially an early 1200 one.

Rover Streetwise.... god i love them!

Hillman Avenger

Morris Landcrab

and most of all an Austin Allegro

and finally a Vauxhall Viva HC

i doubt though it will ever happen, as these are all getting ever, ever more expensive since the cars tend to be left in small numbers.

I fancy something mainstream but with a lusty V6, such as a Vectra GSI, Xantia, Laguna etc, and especially my favourite, the Peugeot 406 Coupe. However as I usually buy something quite different from what I'm looking for I am sure that when the time comes I will be getting something like this:

1935 Austin 7 Type ARQ Ruby_4 by Austin7nut, on Flickr

:) :) :)

Since penning those words, I have come to the conclusion that having ambitions is not the Autoshite WAy, so I have neither bought nor sold anything since.

A cappuccino! Thanks dolly for the resurrection! Now there's an idea for a summer toy. I'm in the mood for a toy at the moment. Then again the visa of Mr cylinder sounds quite.....

I know nothing to do with the thread. I just came across it and it's given me drunken ideas again. NURSE!

Don't have a particular car in mind, however I would like to have a Q car, something with steel wheels and faded bodywork but with a beefy engine under the bonnet. Something like a 1993 cavalier LS with a 2.5 V6.

Posted

Why do you keep asking hard questions, I just want one of every car ever made of coarse! I did once start my fantasy garage list but had to give up at 300 different cars, it was making my head hurt!

The wish list changes often but right now I would like an early Austin Metro 1275cc 3 door manual, basic car shiters condition.

I didn't post in 2011, but if I had I'd probably now be ticking off two:

Rover SD1 3500 - tick

Jaguar XJ6 series 3 - tick

Jaguar XJS HE

Lancia Gamma Coupe

Lancia Beta HPE

NSU Ro80 (yeah yeah - just not a knackered one)

Some sort of 1980s Ford - I've never owned a Ford - probably a Granada or an early Mk3 Escort 1.6 Ghia

Vauxhall Royale Coupe

A Lotus wedge, any sort will do

Renault 14GTL or maybe TS

Either a Princess 2200HLS or a Vanden Plas 1500 (Allegro)

Matra Rancho

Renault 4

Management reserves the right to change this list without notice.
