Autoshite ambitions.

We've seen the car we don't think we'll ever own, now how about the ones we realistically plan to?

*Excuse some fairly predictable content but here's what I fully plan to have at some point, hopefully this year:

Calibra, ideally an early 8V or C20XE.

Nova: pretty much anything (without a bodykit of course) but something a bit hot in the engine stakes would be nice.

Rover 211: I'd never knowingly seen one in the flesh or even advertised then saw three for sale in the last month. I expect they're bloody awful but I'd love the most poorly spec'd one I could find.

Rover Streetwise: What is it about them that makes them strangely attractive?

BMW E30: Anything except a 1.6 really.

Over to you...

This could take a long time, so I'll try and keep it brief. Hoping to get the Scimitar sold, so I'll have the funds, but still have no idea what to get next. This is because the next car could realistically be:

A Wolzcrab

A Land Rover Discovery Mk1 pre-facelift (maybe even an Mpi for ultimate misery)

A Volkswagen Transporter (it will be shite for my budget, so...)

A Citroen Dispatch (or Fiat/Pugrot)

A Citroen Bertilingo (or Pugrot)

Yet I really MUST own:

A Suzuki Cappuccino

A Vauxhall Calibra

A Vauxhall Astra Mk1

A Vauxhall Cavalier Mk2

A Vauxhall Senator

A Ford Sierra XR4/XR4x4

A Porsche 928 (yes, I am stalking Mike D!)

A Talbot Matra Rancho

A Citroen XM

A Citroen GS/GSA

Another BX (Turbo diesel next time please)

A Perodua Nippa

And that's just the ones I can think of immediately.

Another Piazza, or a 306 GTI-6.

I must own one of the latter before they're all track day'd or chavved up.

My biggest shite related ambition is to have some sort of large garage/barn for storage of shite.

Sadly I only have a driveway, space outside my house, and use of my sister's lock-up garage at the moment. Oh, and my own garage, which is so full of stuff for fixing cars that I can't get a car in. My shite storage needs are far greater than this - I plan to have many crocks of shit on the go, once I can (sort of) hide them from the missus.

Before I die - or turn 50 I will own a Cortina again. MK3/4/5 I am not fussy other than it has to be a pinto.

Would it be quicker if i was to list the car's i didn't want at the moment?.

Yes and I expect Wuvvum and Bickle are out too

I definately want another Austin Maxi also a Ford Sierra. Another old Renault, maybe another trip to France next year.

Would definately like to pick up another Renault 14, particularly at UK market car if one of the few left comes up for sale!

I may be the owner of a Montego Turbo Diesel by the end of the weekend!

Triumph Dolomite Sprint, Rover V8 SD1, Rover P5B, Ford Anglia 105E, Volvo Amazon 131 or 123GT, Granada Mk1, Escort Mk1 or 2 (doubt I'd afford one though), S1 RS Turbo, Ford Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac, Capri 3.0 Ghia, BMW E28, Jaguar XJ6, A Stack light Merc (Wouldn't fit in my garage though), Hillman Imp of some variant, Renault 8, Triumph Vitesse, Vauxhall Victor FB & FD, Viva HB or a Firenza.

This is all due to change in realty depending on how much i can get for my Kadett and Escort and what tickles my fancy at the time.

Something American, wagon-shaped, and built in the 1960s - but especially one of these...

Escort Mk1 or 2 (doubt I'd afford one though)

If the Opel sold for the price it deserves you could get one allthough they are not worth the money. If you did find yourself in the position to buy it should be the mk2 as its the best of the bad bunch.

I would like a Hillman Imp again (Owned two which were a 75 in white and a 76 in red) 8) A standard 70s model would be great.

504 Coupe...Next year, assuming that Greece doesn't go bankrupt or that I find a really good job.

Other than that, I agree with Formula. A garage is much more important than the actual shite. I don't want to do even an oilchange when rain and wind could come into play.

I've had a constant Ebay stalk on for a watercooled Porsche for over four years now.

My all time ultimate saloon. Ever. Eight point three two of pure latin passion.

The sad thing is if I got off my arse and got some stability in my work and personal life (especially my personal life) I'd be confident enough to go on a credit card frenzy and buy respectable example of either.

Or a shonky example off both. Now that would be silly. 8)

RD_350_LC_81-82_1.jpg

On a two wheels now for my next ambition. For every RWD Escort I killed and sent over the bridge I probably needlessly destroyed an LC Yamaha of some description. Rather like the Escorts of my past, these beasties are fetching stupid money.

Another Fiat Panda 750

Mk5 Lincoln Continental Coupe (blue, red interior. Landau roof)

Another Cj5

Some sort of Big Citroen

Mk2 Mx-5 with a Rotory conversion

81/2/3/4/5 Ford F150 4x4 short bed (in primer, lifted, with gun rack)

Brat

Mid 80's Ford LTD (beige)

90's XJR

There's more.....

Right. Back to lurking :D

To own an early model Audi ur quattro and to restore The Volvo to as-new condition. I imagine that it looked something like this when it came off the production line at Ghent in June 1990:

I don't know why, but I've long harboured a secret longing for one of these:

I'll probably never actually own one, I read somewhere that the DCi oil-burners in these are made of chocolate.

More likely is something pov-spec made at Longbridge (for obvious reasons)

Actually very high on my list is a Mk3 Transit beavertail. Would prefer a Daf 45 with a six pot Cummins turbo but can't be arsed with the hassle of tachographs etc.

+1

But at least you have a driveway! I don't even have that, the only form of storage I have at the moment is a lock-up in the otherside of Brum and the garden of a mate of a mate. The 3rd 800 I've got is still waiting for an MOT/exhaust.

There are many cars I'd like to buy but sadly I doubt my situation will change for the better in the near future at the very least. I'm fairly happy-ish with what I've got so I don't think I'll be buying anymore cars very soon. I also need to stop collecting car parts.

Bloody pain to get parts for these. I remember trying to sort some brake discs for one, after 3 attempts they turned out to be V6 Laguna discs and the calipers were off something else. Cant remember what now, probably a Kangoo.

A real Renault parts bin special.

If you really want a 928, make friends with the nice folk, especially Simon at Kirkmans 01332 792086

otherwise I am fancying a Maxi -a 1750HL in Harvest gold like what I learned to drive in...

Austin-Maxi.jpg

a Twingo -like what was everywhere when we was in France

Twingo%201.jpg

a Megane coupe- - which are probably / ultimately very dull but look quite nice, then there's ...

megane-coupe-spoiler-1p.gif

a newish Celica

Toyota-Celica-T200.jpg

again, in reality, probably disappointingly dull but I'm guessing cheap to run & might be a cornering chuckle...

Realistically....I have no idea. But I'd really like a pre-war or early post war car, or perhaps an old commercial/estate.

Yes please - but it would have to be a nice tatty one.
