So, I started the year with one fucked car and one nice moped that I wasn't using, and I've finished it with one fucked car (provisionally sold) and one very nice car that I do use, plus I've had a go in a ridiculous Saab in the meantime. Exiled_Tat_Gatherer Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 If this is from a buyer online, i'd run for the hills, fast Last time i sold a car to a Belgian, i ended up in a 4hr interview with Special branch as they tried to track every last detail about 2 of their most wanted suspects and establish what, if any connections i had with them. Never again. Any normal person would take offence at a lack of research on the topic - but I'll just give them your screen name again next time too I'm the buyer - thanks Bramz for the BMW estate - was looking for a Granvia - so bought the MR2 from Dome! Obvious if you think about it! I'll have to do a listing of the ins and outs - but the year isn't at an end yet! dome 1
spike60 Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 In Nowt Out Nowt. For the second year in a row no change though I aim to sell the 944 in the spring, the Z is a Cat C so will probably less hassle to keep than sell and the rough estate is too practical, comfy, smooth, economical and worthless to sell. 2.8 Z3 staying as I CBA selling a Cat C. Owned 6 years, recent near death experience for it when youngest son son spun it over a kerb doing lots of damage to all the plastic shiz low down at the front. Fixed. 2.7 944, aiming to sell in the spring. I like the looks and handling, the supply and prices of some bits a bit less. I probably don't like as much as I feel I should and it aggravates my back. Shame really. BMW 530d manual. Coming up 270k miles, has taken me to France, Holland, Belgium and Germany this year, it's still the weapon of choice for any family doing long runs. Too good at it's job and worth too little to sell so it's probably here until the end. When the 944 shuffles along I fancy a Corvette, TVR, with a BMW 750i/850i as an outside chance. catsinthewelder Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Started the year with a broken 405 lurking at work and a broken Disco at home with this hanging but strangely dependable Astra performing daily duties. In a fit of spannering I suprised all by getting the Astra and 405 MOTed within a fortnight of each other so decided to treat the Astra to some new parts. Predictably this saw everything else break very fast so it was scrapped with 10 months MOT. With the BG trip coming up I behaved myself and didn't buy anything till I got back when I paid for my half of the Dacia The Bollox 220, a car I really like but not necessarily the most sensible thing to replace your daily driver with when everything else you have in the country is borked and it has 6 weeks MOT. I had lots of fun for those 6 weeks before lack of time to fix anything saw the first modern on my fleet for about 10 years. Its fairly competent and has only FTPed once. It's due a cambelt very soon but can wait till after xmas. Yes I sold the camper and 1100 because I only had 2 parking spaces up here and now have 5 cars oops. clayts450, Cleon-Fonte, Skizzer and 3 others 6

CortinaDave Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 A quiet year for tat from me due to toddler eating all my cash. Sometimes literally. OUT: Developed a fuelling problem which a new pump and various sensors didn't solve, and with impending expensive MOT I sold it on rather than weigh it in. I see its now on the road again which is nice. IN: Bought this for 350 quid and went to Manchester to collect the night the beast from the east hit. Made it home and its been superb since IN AND OUT: My old man's Micra. He bought it for 500 quid in 2013 and ran it til he died in January. It was left to me... but was terminally rotten with no hope of another MOT, so after sitting in my drive most of the year I weighed it in this week IN SOON TO BE OUT: The £150 Focus, for wheel and plate robbery purposes clayts450, egg, RobT and 1 other 4

Skizzer Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 For the first time in ages I’ve bought zero new old cars this year. I did have a genuine go at an NSU Ro80 but was outbid at the last minute. I have sort of stuck to my 2018 new year’s resolution and made a bit of progress on the cars I already have: the Lotus and XJ-S both had a complete mechanical overhaul, the Vauxhall runs properly again, the Audi and Golf are both running and indoors for winter. In: Yes I know, but it’s a great tow car, swallowed an engine crane and rotisserie with ease and is fantastic on the motorway where I spend too much of my life. Out: The faithful Disco had an engine fire. I was away, someone else was driving it at the time. The bloke who recovered it bought it and it will be reincarnated as a trialler. holbeck Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 I started the year with a RAV4, and a Smart that had been gifted to me by my Uncle. Smart sold to WBAC as no one wanted it. 205 bought on a whim from HMC used occasionally for a couple of months and sold to Bucketeer Next up was the Safrane bought on here to replace the RAV, but my son was in tears because he loved the RAV and I buckled and Resold the Safrane. The RAV repaid me by playing up and ended up being sold to a local 4x4 specialist who made me a cash offer for it when I asked them to look at repairing it. Son not happy. Next up the Celica bought from 83C, but before I had collected it, the Vantman Saab 900 came up for sale. As I am not one to agree to buy something and then go back on it. I took delivery of it and then resold via the forum to Stanky. The Saab 900 was my daily driver over the summer, bankrupting me with 25MPG, so I acquired a 405 Turbo diesel from Bramz to replace it. Saab eventually swopped for a Citroen BX with HMC! I never really expected to keep the BX but did use it's estate car capabilities to collect a grandfather clock from Lincolnshire, before sending it to ACA. HMC car sales provided me with the Renault 19 as an unexpected end of year bonus. I still have it, although Likely for sale shortly. As the year ends the 405 has decided that it's had enough of commuting and I ended up getting the Xantia forum bike to tide me over. egg, clayts450, catsinthewelder and 5 others 8

Spottedlaurel Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Very quiet year for me, none of the four old cars changed (just not used as much as I'd like to for other reasons, now fortunately resolved). I like them all and I know that I'm at the limit of what I can keep on top of so I can't see this changing in the near future. LS400 eventually replacing the Camry perhaps? Sensible Avensis replaced by sensible Avensis. Hoping to move that on in 2019 as a 1.8 petrol with no torque in something that size is not a happy combination. It's not mine, but a certain Mazda 929 did appear on the driveway...... Skizzer 1
Datsuncog Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Middling old year... VERY MUCH OUT (April): TAZ, my 'keeper' 1998 Renault Laguna 1.8 RT Sport, which blew its brains out rather spectacularly on the M2 on Easter Monday after a bare eight months of ownership. Resurrection: ultimately undoable, with meagre skills and tools. Sold for scrap money. KAZ, loyal but battered 1996 Renault Laguna 1.8 RN bASe (ex-R9UKE); attempted resurrection (after drawing a line under TAZ) thwarted by master cylinder disintegration, causing brake lines and wheel cylinders to become blocked with rust particles. Not unfixable, but car mojo at a severe low; sold for scrap money (as a pair). CHEERIO IN: (April) Li'l Thunder, 2003 Subaru Forester 2.0 XT, via a Gumtree ad in North Belfast STEADY STATE: MrsDC's 2005 Toyota Yaris 1.0 Colour Collection; now on 100k from buying it new. Horribly battered, but ever-faithful. 2019 SHITE RESOLUTIONS: Get the Forester in a decent state of repair Tidy the Yaris as it so deserves it Pretend to not want to buy a fucked E110 Toyota Corolla from Ballyclare Auctions. egg 1
MikeR Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 the Micra goes at the end of January cost me 750 notes about 10 years ago , its had the odd repair .. leaks oil and collects water and has major tin worm around the arse end and wiper motor area .. has 4 ok tyres , thats about it
Angrydicky Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Nothing sold this year, and the only purchase was the ex DSparesandTyres, ex BeEp Clio: Now approaching 100k miles with the only expenses bar petrol, tax, insurance etc being a service and a new rear wiper blade. Will get a pair of new front tyres fitted next week though. It's fairly shit with a heavy clutch, creaking steering and battered bodywork but it's been reliable so far. rml2345 Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 It's been a quiet year for me. OUT Started with this which seemed fundamentally sound but I got fed up sorting niggles. Sold to Split Pin who found a load of problems I didn't even know about. IN So this came back from Aldo and continues to provide sterling service. It's staying for the foreseeable under the custody of Woman_RML as Mini replacement. And this is replacement for the 850, currently with CMS for MOT but will take up daily duties next year. catsinthewelder, Skizzer, egg and 3 others 6
Partridge Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 This has been a pretty bad year for me, car wise. In:605 -£650W124 - £1500306 Sedan -£350Xantia - £300820 Sterling (again) £0 (gift) Out:W124 + £150 (got vandalised)306 Sedan + £200Xantia + £130 (scrapped)Volvo + £80 (scrapped) I really need to doing this. (I won't though). I've offloaded four cars, yet somehow still have three on fleet:405 - (bought last October, never going because we've sunk cash into it, and the Mrs is too attached to it).605 - (probably not going)820 Sterling - (my first car and it's come back to me) In conclusion, I waste far too much cash on crap old cars, why that's a suprise for somebody who comes on here, I don't know. Looking ahead to next year I want another X300 to love long time, and the Mrs wants a 309 or 205 diesel. Skizzer 1
brownnova Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 As it is now the end of the year, please find my tat accounting for 2018. OUT:Ford KaThe Ex-wife’s steed was thought to have departed the fleet along with said ex wife. However when it failed it’s MoT for rust (and therefore became a liability rather than an asset) it suddenly returned to my driveway! I fixed up the holes and a broken spring, got a new MoT on it and then gave it to my brother who was car-less and skint. Since then it has disgraced itself by needing a new clutch, and new heater matrix. IN: In what was a busier year than the usual one in one out... Citroen 2CV!A long held desire for a proper classic yielded this. after a quick ride in DollyWoblers Elly, we were smitten and hung around the 2CV community a bit and cake across this really rather nice example! Providing sterling service so far! Saab 9000Rescued from a driveway where it had festered for a while. The plan was to put it back on the road. Currently it’s still festering, just on my drive. Need to decide whether to use it for parts or to restore. It’ll probably get back on the road tbh. Peugeot 206This one in by proxy, my girlfriend’s car which is on the fleet after me moving in. Boring but economicall, it’ll probably be the first out in 2019, not least as the clutch is kippered! Haven’t ever taken a photo of it, so this one what I did just take now will have to do... REMAINERS:Saab 9000Sterling service from my Swedish tank, now on 183,000, wearing a couple of battle scars (wanker in a Yaris who just drove off) but only one FTP (a Brake calliper seize up). GF likes it so it might stay, but I’ve started to get itchy feet... (the car not the girlfriend- she’s a keeper!) Mazda MX5Next month this will become the longest I’ve ever owned a car! It’s FTPd once but needed a new cam belt water pump and thermostat. It’s also had a new roof, which seems to leak... this ones staying for the foreseeable. I still love it! Fiat Ducato CamperTrundles on... needs some metal work on the next year, and a new exhaust. But should still be here next year... Shite resolutions:Get a car older than 1980Try a few more different cars, change a little more often. Get more hands on with the cars! Skizzer, BorniteIdentity and catsinthewelder 3
