Thanks for the positive appreciation!

It never ceases to amaze me when these long forgotten cars suddenly turn up that have been cherished for 30 odd years. Whatever the make! The owner said he never took it to shows or anything..it just sat in his garage! A true hidden gem!

Its on that basis that I'm hoping I'll fing a mint, low mileage SEAT Malaga somewhere!

Posted

Me neither, I guess if I ever did see one I thought it was an Avenger.

I think you may be right there. When these were about Avengers were probably 10 a penny and you wouldn't have given them a 2nd glance.

Lawks! I remember them new!! I'm sure one must exist!!

A Malaga turns up on my estate every so often.

Good luck to you, whay aren't I that lucky? Will it be as good as your Tagora SX though?

Posted

Ye Gads! Truly hideous lump of bull-buggeringly awful Autoshite WIN!

I'm glad it exists and you own it. I'm spectacularly glad it's in that colour scheme, and I've glad you've got probably the best spec example of these things ever built.

I know I'd hate it for being hopeless but it'd make me grin if I drove it.

Top shiteing, you're really living the dream. Tagoras and now this. (The Simca isn't shite.)

OMG 3k? Thats not shite really, thats more classic car buff money

Posted

Yeh, I'll find one eventually. I'm in no rush - if I happen to trip over a really good one then I'd be on it, but otherwise I'm not going to any actual effort.

I can only follow what others have said and congratulate on a superb purchase. I love the headlights on these, they just look so wrong/right.

Posted

Its the tail lights for me, they are somehow creepy looking, and that appeals. Like on Hillman Avenger estates, these's something spooky about them.

In a good way.

My 'W' reg had the earlier features... and a 'PHEONIX' badge on the glovebox lid... :?

Wow! thats a pre-facelift car, registered at least 18 months after the changes were made! There must have been one hell of a party in the showroom when that sold!!!

The enquiry is complete

The vehicle details for TVV 660W are:

Date of Liability 01 06 1998

Date of First Registration 05 09 1980

Year of Manufacture 1980

Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1981CC

CO2 Emissions Not Available

Fuel Type Petrol

Export Marker Not Applicable

Vehicle Status Unlicensed

Vehicle Colour GREEN

'Year of manufacture 1980'... naughty!

It was metalic British Racing Green (had been resprayed, it was originaly light metalic green) with a mint green velour interior. It had fibreglass front wings and apart from a bit of bubbling on the rear arches the body was great. Usual grot spot around the tie bar mounts on the chassis had been very neatly welded, guy (or gal) must have been so proud he'd/she'd welded their initials onto the plates... Gearbox was dodgy tho', syncro had gone on 2nd IIRC, and It didn't run right as I had stupidly bodged a twin choke webber from a Cortina on it when I got fed up with the auto choke. Sold it to guy who was restoring a Borgward Isabella...

There had to be a bit of car-juggling at Maison Booby today with the arrival of the Chrysler 2 Litre. Originally , the plan was to sell the Solara to free up space but I can't bring myself to part with it just yet. :(

Therefore the Simca had to be evacuated...

Posted Image

..and relocated to a friends barn a few miles away....

Posted Image

..next to....

Posted Image

Tagora 3 which is actually a very solid car just needing some TLC. Its been on SORN for a year now, but it did drive better than the red one when last in use!!

So went to pick up the Chrysler on a friends transporter as the car isnt MOT'd and I haven't insured it as yet. The engine purrs away nicely and the auto box is very smooth...it just needs a brake bleed and a couple of hoses and the car should pass no probs. (Hopefully!)

Posted Image

The car is pretty much in perfect nick...no rust, scratches or dents ....just a couple of little chips by the boot lock...

Posted Image

...but there are a couple of things I would like to change....

The owner put these Wolfrace alloys on when he bought it in 1980! but I'm not keen....

Posted Image

..so the originals will go back on at some stage....

Posted Image

Also these badges are incorrect. They were only badged Talbots on the continent , and then in a narrower script. These badges date from about 1982!! So two new 'CHRYSLER' badges will need to be sought!! Obviously I can keep these as spares then for the Tagoras.

Posted Image

These are the original number plates, but I quite like the wide-font ones on it so will have a think about whether to change these.

I much prefer the black grille on these later cars...gives it an almost 'sporty' look!! The mirrors need to be replaced with original chrome ones but the old boy unfortunately threw it (they only came with driver side when new) away as it was pitted. Not easy to find methinks!! :(

The interior is just lovely and as new. As you can see it would have been very dated by the late 70s and no power steering or leccy windows despite being Chryslers 'top of the range' model for 10 years!!

Posted Image

The rear seats are very sumptuous! I think I might have a little 'writhe' on them later!!! :P

Posted Image

I must say, I'm thrilled to bits with the car. I never thought I would buy one full stop, let alone one as nice as this. The colour is Bark Metallic and suits the car well. !!

I checked with Simca Club ( as it is a Simca-derived car and badged so in some territories) and they only have 2 known to them and three 180's. I'm sure there's probably more but I reckon a survival rate in single figures. It was a crap seller when new, approx 2,000 a year in the UK and had the misfortune to be replaced by...you guessed it!!!! Tagora sold just 2000 in the UK, TOTAL!!! 8)

Posted Image

This is me attempting an 'arty' shot!

So, to summarise...

Its crap......CHECK

Its rare......CHECK

Its brown...CHECK

That'll do me!! :P

Posted

Thats lovely!

And what a fleet!

Posted

It's not crap, it's lovely.

Please put the original plates back on it though.

Posted

I'm surprised everyone else doesn't just give up, you've got so much quality shite no one can compete!

That is bloody lovely though, interior looks like a nice place to be. Cant beat beige velour.

+1 for shoving the original plates back on, it'll make a huge difference. Be nice to see it on the proper wheels too, although I do quite like the wolfies.

Also nice to finally see a shot of Tagora #3, doesn't look bad at all!

Posted

Wow, thats incredibly nice. I agree with Barrett regarding the wheels, they look pretty good right now. Understandably slots look pretty awful on some things but that car pulls them off. So, would any other cars persuade you to part with money or are you fully content now?

Posted

That's a cracking motor, and looks to be in top nick too. Great find.

Posted

Stunning! I love your Simca a little bit more every time I see a pic of it though...

I don't mind the plates that are on it, but I don't think the slot mags really work without some other modification. Maybe you need a green sun strip and some of those anti-static straps. Then they'd be fine.

Posted

If I owned your fleet I would park them in a semi-circular formation and enjoy the worlds biggest cresent wank.

Posted

It is an incredible collection that you have their, a true autoshite hero!

Sorry to the "pictures in quotes" HATERS

Can one refer to Milf in plural like that?

That's a splendid car Booby.

Careful with that rear seat - the fabric doesn't look wipe-clean to me.
