Shitefest Cornwall . Prob 15/16th August

My brother and I were discussing the possibility of hosting a SF down here one day .

We have access to a rugby grounds which has a toilet and two separate shower blocks ( they are communal tho )

Clubhouse and usual town facilities are a short walk away ( less than 10mins ) 

We could arrange a few day trips out of local places of interest and there is my workshop about 3 miles away if anyone has any car issues .

Initial thoughts were in August sometime if there hasn’t been a SF planned already . Sorry not been paying that much attention tbh as it’s manic in the Joyce house at present .

I don't think anyone else has volunteered yet so yes please. Last I made the trek to Cornwall was for the eclipse in 1999 - it was cloudy.

Sounds like the same sort of setup we had at the football club for Shitefest_Devon and that was a good crack.

Can 9 drunk blokes cook bacon and sausages whilst drinking in  there at 2am though? Then a seperate group of no drunk blokes do the same again from 0700?

Great idea, Cornwall is fab and haven't been in years.  Thanks, I'm more or less in depending on all the usual stuff, but I do like the idea.

Cornwall?! I swear every shitefest since I have signed up has been as far away from me as possible LOL

is there a rough post code or location or such I can punch into google maps to see what the drive might be like? (ironically some time in June is an international gathering of lighting enthusiasts happening in somewhere Cornwall in June, that I already committed  too at the start of the year, not sure I can stomach having to drive to Cornwall twice!)

Cheapest Premier inn/Travelodge at halfway-ish point then it's 2 x 3 hrs so there are options.

In fairness, the only thing near Cornwall is Cornwall...

Google maps suggests that it'll take you the best part of 2hrs just to escape the M25!

Not as bad as I thought but I am unlikely to attend!

Will never be a fun trip even for those of us who can smash the cruise to 85 and crack on in parts. Ironically if you took the a roads it'd probably be a lovely 50/60 average speed waft straight through in Rev, a good chance it'd be faster than the m4/m5 too (I'm sure I remember that being fucked for shitefest Devon, I left mega early and got past it before but there were shiters arriving past midnight because of it)

Yep, if I recall you got up stupid early/long drive to get to SF24. There was a strong Cornish and Scottish representation as well as a Southampton attendee.

I'm in the East Midlands so I'm halfway to everywhere in England and Wales but saying that I've declined the Easter Northern Twixfest day tour as I didn't fancy it as a day trip and I won't do potential cold camping anymore.

@LightBulbFun if you want to attend you can make it work. If you don't fancy it then that's fine too.

No problem camping in our field for individuals.

I would have loved to offered the FOD for Shitefest 2026 as it was 10 years ago we hosted Shitefest last. Trouble is I am not very well and tasks like cutting the grass are beyond me at the moment.

Oh and i forgot to say the rugby ground is really close to the Great Flat Lode cycle trail too if anyone fancies a nice scenic and not too difficult pedal. Happy to lead that out.

 

Oh and the flat part isnt the trail , its the angle of the mineral deposits under the ground🤣

Sounds great I could day visit as only in North Cornwall, as every one says Cornwall is a long way and although I love it here everywhere is a long way when you live in Cornwall.

It takes me 1 ½ hrs just to get to the motorway.
