Sounds great I could day visit as only in North Cornwall, as every one says Cornwall is a long way and although I love it here everywhere is a long way when you live in Cornwall.

It takes me 1 ½ hrs just to get to the motorway.

Not taking car related abuse from someone that owns a Nissan Cashcow

For all those complaining that Cornwall's too far...

... this is a car forum and here's an opportunity to drive your car - JFDI. Quite happy to convoy if anyone else is up for it.

100% this.

I get more of a kick doing the far away ones because I go up with Phill and Dan, we have our walkie talkies for banter and we stop for plenty of food/photos.

We skip motorways and plan more scenic routes and make it a journey instead of just travelling 😁

Bugger, think that's one of the wife's weekends on - if we can firm up a date and herself can get the time off to let me do it I'm sure an 1100mile round trip in 3 days at 30mpg would be doable.

the proposed weekend is in school summer  holidays, just the kind of time to enjoy* the experiences offered by the M5 and A30, pretty well guaranteed crashes causing long delays both down and back (on top of nose to tail traffic anyway)

I saw Hairnet's suggestion of flying to Exeter - Newqay is closer but both have HFM fares, pretty well matched by the trains

Aka “silly season” but not everyday.

It’s worse when it snows I’d say.

yeah will do...

...as thats one way, a 6 hour drive from here!

Good job you now have a nice comfortable Plah to do the journey in then.

It's at least 8 hours from me.

I don't think anyone else has volunteered yet so yes please. Last I made the trek to Cornwall was for the eclipse in 1999 - it was cloudy.

Should have stopped at Devon.  I was in Salcombe, it was lovely.

Going into cornwall on a Friday and away on a Sunday will be reasonably ok . The other way would be horrific

I'd love to come but can't commit: it's my son's 21st birthday weekend so need to be available, but he might be abroad for it in which case I'll be straight down the A30 to Kernow

I have looked at this. Purely because my Lady friend has never slept in a tent.

I have a tent, which last  appeared at the Bubble Car Museum.

But at 6 hours each way it's not happening.

I used to holiday in Cornwall and I know how long  a 6 hour* journey takes.

I'm pretty much certain that I can come, the kids are possibly coming but won't be certain till they are actually in the car!

I’ll try my best, it’s about time I got to a proper shitefest

6 1/2 hours each way… none of my current fleet will make it that far without breaking. At least I have a few months to try and get something working!
