It just sounded like a pleasure cruiser working off Scarborough.

Motown Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 May he rest in peace he was a great presenter and journalist made Clarkson look like a choir boy! I used to love the buyers guides and the various documentaries he made over the years especially Rover: The Long goodbye which ive watched so many times. Matty, Richard_FM, Wibble and 1 other 4

SiC Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 He was only 3 years older than Clarkson. While Quentin is probably not as memorable as Clarkson especially in later years, he's certainly made an indelible mark on the British automotive landscape. I always remember his Top Gear piece on why you should buy an XJ-S. I then tried to convince my parents they should get one as much more interesting than the Renault Scenic we had at the time. 😅 R Lutz, BorniteIdentity, CaptainBoom and 7 others 10

Surface Rust Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 He had some good taste, if I recall correctly he rescued this place from being demolished and turned into a load of executive style homes: 6 bedroom detached house for sale in Avenue Road, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, CV37 https://share.google/lejoP4xDj8oKAkyoQ I always enjoyed his segments on the old top gear, his Lexus LS400 and Honda Legend reviews still stuck in my memory. Marina door handles Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 Pretty shocked to read of his passing, definitely one of my motoring heroes. RIP
HMC Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 RIP qw For sure- pre internet QW was my only screen exposure to older cars. I remember lapping up this segment in 1991 He doesnt rate buying a banger hyundai stellar, thats for sure. Plus sorry QW id not have bought the 405 but the repossessed, rough 190E. Because. He also did a segment on buying a silver shudders in the mid 90s, most of which i ignored when buying mine many years later 😂 I used to lap up the first iteration of the TG mag @bramz7 and (true story) my english language GCSE prep was reading Clarkson and Wilson’s columns in the 94-96 TG editions i had to hand and I’m certain it helped me to an A* via osmosis. But not a fan of snake oil, nor obsessive pondering and speculation to egg up classic car values- because as a pure enthusiast imo this should be an irrelevance- soz QW. But I feel hes been a force for good overall and have fond memories of his writing and broadcasting, RIP. Matty and Shite Ron 2
calebaaront Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 RIP Mr Wilson, I’m too young to remember him on Top Gear but I remember him on Fith Gear also The Cars The Star. Here’s one of my favourite clips of him doing a section about 205s on Top Gear Burnside and RayMK 2
R Lutz Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 He was also a devoted family man. His youngest son was born with issues and he was tireless in looking after him and getting him treatment, not all of it being traditional medicine to help him and others. That kind of stuff never came out about him. He was a genuinely nice man and a genuine motor trade unlike all them on TV now. Burnside, sheffcortinacentre, Essex V6 and 7 others 10

Ah the whitewashing of the deceased. Found guilty of 8 counts of selling cars with false descriptions in 1988, first appeared on tv in 1991.
