Alpine or what? - Tia Maria advert

This is on screen for about half a second in the current Tia Maria TV ad, it looks very Talbot Alpine but I'm not 100% sure about the front end...Any opinions?

Some Iranian solara etc.

Left hand drive so it's either a Simca 1307/8 (France) or a Chrysler 150 (Spain). Bumpers suggest the latter as was the fashion at the time.

Styled????

What's the obsession with people dancing on car roofs in adverts?

For all the exoticism IIRC styled in the Midlands.

Exotic enough if you’re in wales in the 1970s!

I “enjoyed” a bottle of duty free Tia Maria my mate brought back from Spain when I was 16 and then threw up all over my face lying down, while claiming ‘never again’ for the rest of the night! I can’t even smell that stuff without retching!

Try it again, mixed with vodka and milk, that'll straighten you out.

Originally known as the Simca 1307 in France - also later the Simca 1308/1309/1508/1609, Chrysler 150, Chrysler Alpine, Dodge Alpine, Talbot 1510/150, 1308 GLS Superstrada, Talbot Alpine, Talbot Solara and Talbot SX and Talbot Minx and Rapier in various locations.

Engineered by Simca originally and body design Roy Axe.

Never called Alpine in Europe because the name was owned by Alpine.

The Alpine name in the UK - was carried over from Rootes whom Chrysler bought, who originally had it on a cut down 1950's Sunbeam Talbot sports convertible rally car, the name  itself comes from the Alpine Rally, also known by its official name 'Coupe des Alpes', a rally competition based in Marseille - and held  1932 to 1971.

The front looks odd because it has an overider/bullbar fitted.

Cars in Spain in the 70s and 80s always seemed to have those chrome nudge bars fitted.  I’m guessing it was down to touch parking.

Merry Christmas, Shiters!

There was some YouTube advert I saw a few times with some young chap body popping on the roof of a Chrysler/Simca 180 or 200. Can't remember what product it was for.

I'm the same with Pernod. Had to redecorate the bedroom and I don't think we ever got the stains out of the carpet. 🤮 Hateful stuff!
