Floatylight Posted May 12 Posted May 12 If you are looking for a launch event venue i'm working here today. https://www.bsmhft.nhs.uk/about-us/conference-facilities-for-hire/uffculme-centre/functions/ Very pleasant, was originally one of the Cadbury family houses lesapandre 1
Snipes Posted May 12 Posted May 12 I've been involved with launch events in other contexts (but I would say similar scale). Obviously, they're great if you get the numbers but if you don't.....
motorpunk Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 18000 words done. This includes the description of a kneecapping, the phrase ’Wolseley Sierra Cosworth Van den Plas’, and something about Helena Bonham-Carter that I probably should remove before printing. Snipes Posted May 13 Posted May 13 OK I'm definitely buying this it sounds amazing. I just live historical accounts of best laid plans by over earnest morons blowing up in their faces.

motorpunk Posted May 14 Author Posted May 14 Bloody amazon. Just had an email to say they’re reducing their royalty rate to authors, so (off the top of my head), l will make almost zero royalties on my existing books unless I put the price up. I haven’t set a price for Looking for the real Red Robbo yet. Matty, High Jetter, Wibble and 10 others 13

AnthonyG Posted May 14 Posted May 14 I’d come to the launch event if it was around Brum somewhere. I would have suggested the car park outside the Cannock car auction place, but sadly that closed down after COVID. There’s always the nearby Truckers Rest transport cafe! lesapandre, chaseracer, N Dentressangle and 1 other 4
motorpunk Posted May 15 Author Posted May 15 20000 words done. Drew’s Lane Communist striker of ‘79 was an ex-para and wore his beret to work nailing Sherpas together. I love unearthing such characters. mk2_craig, lesapandre, Wibble and 5 others 8
Dyslexic Viking Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Since Jay owns several supercars, and Ferrari Lamboginis an more, an Ital is a must have. So I would be very surprised if he doesn't have one or two. motorpunk, lesapandre, Matty and 1 other 3 1
Sunny Jim Posted May 17 Posted May 17 One of my cousins has self-published a series of historical romance novels which evidently sell quite well. I can find out who she uses for printing, sales and distribution if you like.

timolloyd Posted May 18 Posted May 18 FWIW I’ve bought two of your books via Amazon, enjoyed them, and felt the print quality was deserving of another couple of quid on the price. And this next one is different. It’s political history and therefore a different audience. I’d expect to pay ~£15 or more for a paperback by Dominic Sandbrook on 1970s/80s industrial history. Thank you! I absolutely hate the money side of things. I don’t mind admitting that I probably never get close to covering my costs as I daren’t charge readers too much and I just enjoy the process of researching and writing.
