Shitefest Shropshire 12-14th July

Well the loo is booked and paid for so I should probably think about ordering something else.

Telford Steam Railway are open to the public on Sundays at the moment but I could ask how much it would cost to run us a train on the Saturday, perhaps with the North British built shunter (the most Autoshite of diesels).

We're really looking forwards to this - it's a lovely part of the world! (Put it this way, we live in the Snowdonia national park, and Shropshire is our go-to place for a weekend away).

I have already started to prepare the Autoshite library for this year.

Highlights of the total randomness so far are a 1934 ‘Autoencylopedia’, an early 1960s Czechoslovakian road atlas, an ex Mid Glamorgan library book on British Trolleybuses, and an owners handbook for a Honda Stream (not the MPV but a bizarre early 80s three wheeled scooter).

Perhaps more logically, there will be many duplicates of 60/70s Motorsport and 90s Car up for grabs.

Czech road atlas? I know someone that would love that.

Is it @Cavcraft?

So I visited the TSR at the weekend.  They had the North British loco running with it's new straight pipe exhaust which sounds fantastic in the tunnel and were very happy to run us a special train but can't do it on Shitefest Saturday as they are running steam driver experiences all day.

The steam engine will be running on the Sunday and I encourage people to visit on your way home.

Can this just be a drop in thing i.e. can I just do the the Friday or is it just a weekend camping thing?

Am I missing something but could be worth adding how to get tickets on the first post?

@23rdian

No need for tickets but I'll put a copy and paste list up as we get closer so I've got some idea of numbers.  I don't need to spend masses setting it up so I'll just put an honesty box out and donate anything above the costs to the local hospice.

No need to stay all weekend. I'll be there by lunchtime on the Friday once I've hung a few signs in local hedgerows.  I'll probably leave on Sunday afternoon in time to catch the local tip as the site owners aren't operating commercially any more so don't want to be left with loads of rubbish.

A lady I know massively over ordered cans of gas for camping stoves so I'll have those for sale to try and get the explosion risk at her house down a bit!

There's a butcher in the village, when I get chance I'll ask about putting an order in for breakfast ingredients.  Sadly I doubt they supply corners.

Rightio, the nagging has paid off and I've got it booked.  Location is my mates field/woods/campsite near Bridgnorth in Shropshire.  Should be quite reasonably priced so long as we tidy up afterwards.

Edit #1

Lets make the location easy to find.

What3 words to the entrance.  ///bungalows.next.windmills

Which looks like this

The open one on the left.

From above.

Access is from Ashfield Road, the track marked on Google heading South East doesn't exist as far as I know.

Further out.

Very good, from my experience at fest 22!
A bunch of unpretentious people sitting drinking round a campfire and talking bollocks about shite cars, poring over each other's shite cars, and the occasional trip out to something interesting in the day :)

That actually sounds really good lol. I'll check the diary

They're all a bit different and @dollywobbler's kept quiet about appearing for a few years but it should give you an idea.

Bonus shot of my old Astra behind @wuvvum's Innocenti

edit,  hopefully the link is to the Shitefest playlist on Hubnut, you could just search it and pick out the slightly more relevant footage.

Is there much of a plan for the Saturday? I am contemplating coming down after the kids bedtime Fri night and returning early doors Sunday.

I'm just jealous you can sleep in your practical van and not have to fuck about with tents!

It's an early model so a bit of a tight squeeze for an "ample" figure especially length wise. If I slept in a tent I wouldn't get up in the morning. Too crippled for that malarkey.

I've asked for the time off work on the Fri/Sat but I'm pretty far down the list so I am unlikely. Arses. I'm also working the Sunday by the looks and we can't put in for holidays on a Sunday because The Railway™
Hopefully get down for at least the Friday night.

I don’t have a job at the moment so I’m declaring this as a holiday when I start.

Great fun, until you catch a ride with @AnnoyingPentium and he tries channeling his inner Richard Burns...

But seriously it's a good time, even if it pisses it down throughout!

I'm an 'event virgin' too. We can be noobs together.

@Ghosty I like your thinking. If there was any justice this would be declared a national holiday - street parties, that sort of thing.

I think a good contingent are heading to the RAF museum at Cosford.

The Severn Valley Railway is just down the road but a bit spendy.  Not sure if anyone was up for canoe out, train back?

If I didn't really really want to go to the RAF museum, I'd totally be up for getting me old inflatable kayak out of storage* and making a tit of myself on the water!

Usually most people arrive the Friday afternoon/evening. You won't be alone!

I may now be on a training course so could potentially manipulate it to attend.
