ianbmw Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 Monza has been knocked down the pecking order a bit by mothers old Disco. waffle in short, because all you want to see is photos. wedding anniversary present from my late father to my mother(pretty sure it was brought new). Been utterly reliable, but rusty…..4 months ago, it developed a “squeak “, turned out the spring cups have failed and the spring was resting on the boot floor (slight irony there) less talking, more rusting! Dick Cheeseburger, beko1987, mercedade and 30 others 30 3
N Dentressangle Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 That's brilliant. Ace colour too. Galv chassis? Could be worth it... [/mrsdoyle] Although it doesn't look THAT bad. Shame you can't get a galv body instead. At least all the repair sections are cheap and easy enough to stick on
UltraWomble Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 To my untrained eye, the chassis looks fucked. Replacement chassis time? 5speedracer, grogee and MikeR 1 2
R Lutz Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 I'd be fitting a new chassis to that. Great cars.
SEATMad Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 Other than the chassis being bollocks, it looks in fairly good nick, defiantly worth saving. The colour is tip top as well! R Lutz 1
Dick Cheeseburger Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 It's survived more than 30 shitty English winters. That's pretty good for a vehicle which is supposed to be piloted through mud. UltraWomble and warch 1 1
bezzabsa Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 Glad to see the Factory supplied Spider is still working 808 Estate, Pat Earrings, Lord Sterling and 2 others 5
hairnet Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 @Saabnut *offer advice here...................
lexi Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 Great old trucks when rebuilt. Done a few resto's with Series, but I think Disco makes more sense. You can actually get them comfortable and waterproof and will still go anywhere. R Lutz 1
Rustybullethole Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 Am really hoping this is going to be another great weld fest. You know it makes sense, we are here to be entertained after all. DSdriver, Stinkwheel and Shite Ron 3

Saabnut Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 I have a good secondhand rolling chassis available, needs one spring top only from memory.... I can take pics if required
ianbmw Posted February 7, 2024 Author Posted February 7, 2024 Plan of attack with this is….. drive to the new Forest this Friday morning, conduct chassis swap (because that chassis is paper thin). hopefully weld the shell up next week drink tea mate all all back together next weekend we all know this won’t happen Shite Ron, beko1987, scruff and 11 others 10 4

mat777 Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Oooft, that's a project for the brave! It's great to see another 200tdi Disco being saved, there really can't be many of them left now! I'd be very worried though, given that on these the body rusts worse than the chassis, exactly how bed the shell is 👀
HMC Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Loving the gold, if not the finest golden flakes of Solihull underneath

ianbmw Posted February 26, 2024 Author Posted February 26, 2024 Not a lot has happened of late, something to do with not wanting to waste my life fixing rusty old shite…..oh wait, here I am. shell has now been transferred to the welders. Enter some sketchness unloading from a plant trailer with no winch, what could go wrong? Actually nothing. Some rust so far…… welding starts this week, not sure I have the energy in me to do the Monza after this! Tickman, Jenson Velcro, Coprolalia and 12 others 15
grogee Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Wow. I thought I had problems. The very best of shiters luck to you.
Saabnut Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 My inner front wings were not as bad as that but I replaced mine with easy on panels from froggatts Inner Wings by Froggatts Land Rover & 4x4 Specialists Not cheap but excellent quality. I had mine powder coated and they are now bolt on. Will never need anything again!
fatharris Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Looking forward to seeing the progress on this, the photos alone were giving me the shivers!
