Ti's but a scratch that compared with most 5s out there.

Lovely repair and excellent looking little mazda.

I supposed I’d had better make a little update on the Rover whist I’m at it and the report is……. There’s nothing to report, it’s just been a reliable, practical little car, a car that I’ve wound up liking rather a lot and might actually be my favourite car on the fleet at the moment 😳

I genuinely look forward to driving it

i have a road trip to Leeds planned “this will become a regular thing” and so far the only car I trust/want to take that far is the Rover until an inevitable Audi A6 C6 Avant Auto joins the fleet again at some point

11/10 good an car 👍

Celebratory quick scrub with the jet wash

Then it decided to absolutely hoof it down with rain as it almost always seems to do daily at the moment so made the whole washing it thing kinda pointless

ahh this is where you use the rain to your advantage!

exhibit A: Block splodges  on REV's bumper from the VDP's exhaust

one trip on the M25 (and A21) overtaking lorries at speed like a dog trying to drink out of a high pressure garden hose later

and et viola the splodges are gone and the car is now clean* once more!

(she could really use a proper wash still mind...)

Little bit of filler and red oxide left over by the welder the other day A few hours with a can of Halfords spray paint gave me this result

I’m no Bob Ross but I honestly don’t think I did a horrible job considering I’m usually hopeless at anything arts and crafts related

I also popped to silverlake whist waiting for coats to dry and picked up these roof latches as the other ones were pretty weak and corroded

had a good catch up with the friend who bought it and it’s getting delivered straight to an American car garage to begin the process of restoring it

Shame to see this one is heading to the short oval soon, although it does look like it was quite rusty. I guess that's the danger of selling relatively low-value Yank stuff like this.

Yeah I had a message from the guy who bought it saying it was basically too far gone after some proper analysis, it’s definitely a shame and was a lesson for both of us to properly look over a car before jumping the gun

I do like the ability to get a reference to the great Bob Ross in an mx5 thread. All very calming.

Brilliant purchase! True Autoshite interior spec there. Look at the vulgalour steering wheel centre cap. Class!

Fabulous purchase.  Love it.  Bring it to Flower Farm please.  Otherwise, leave it in the garage and get the train!

Um, congratulations in there somewhere................ on two counts perhaps?  Anyway, just keep that fine car dry to keep it how it is.  That's my view.

Brilliant!

I love old Jaguars/Daimlers.

We still have the Series 2 we bought from @RobT 10 years ago.

That is fantastic.  I cannot imagine the effort to keep it so presentable, or do you just not use it too much?  Either way, looks good.

I was gonna say it entirely depends on how good/bad it is on fuel but I did take a Rolls Royce there a few years ago so…. 😆

Thank you on both counts

also I have a slight feeling it might not fit in the garage, some measurements will need to be taken I think

Expensive at 16 mpg! Otherwise they are great cruising cars. I also used to have a S2 2 door Coupe, but sold that.

When Mrs6C used to work in Warwick she sometimes would take it to work up the M40.

Because of the number of cars we have including a Series one Daimler Sovereign none of them do a large milage.

The only issue with the S2 is when it is parked up for a while, like now when it was put away for the winter it leaks gearbox oil badly. Once it is in regular use it sorts itself out.

How many???  I don't think I ever got that many out of my 78 LWB Daimler!  I know it came as a shock after nearly three years with a 7 litre Cadillac...

@Weird Car Congratulations, excellent swooping there!  Enjoy, even if the long-distance gets expensive.

My mates series 2 fitted in a standard council garage, my XJ40 was a nope. Good luck, looks fabulous.

With the Volvo now sold to  @captain_70s it’s time for something else, as a few of you know @Jessi and I have been friends for close to a decade and are now on intimate terms so to speak, we’re obviously both very happy and we’re also happy to finally announce it but I digress, Jessi unfortunately lives up in Yorkshire which wouldn’t be a problem but I’m way down south in Portsmouth, my plan for a little while has been to buy a sensible motorway cruiser so when I finish work on a Friday afternoon I can just jump in the car, make the 5 ish hour drive and not be absolutely and utterly exhausted, so I’ve been looking at late 90s/early 2000s Jaguars, think X300/XJ8 thinking they’d fit the bill brilliantly, I then decided I’d like something with a tiny bit more character, think XJ40, turns out neither of those quite happened

yep for those with a good memory it’s the Series 2 Daimler Sovereign I sold on here last year for a friend, it cropped back up for sale locally for a price I couldn’t resist and after a test drive I was honestly surprised at how modern it felt, the engine whispers along and is inaudible at idle speeds, performance is a similar story, subtle around town but when you plant your foot she’ll definitely move like a Jag should

the long distance machine of my dreams? Probably not but it’s a nice colour

Chapeau. Top class, and welcome @Jessi

Delightfully 70s colour combination for an old XJ, you can’t go wrong with velour.
