grogee Posted July 8, 2023 Author Posted July 8, 2023 This is a big clue and a big result. I will ask Mrs Grogee for a Woollard shot but I suspect it'll be a flat 'no' in which case I'll get @Cluffy to take a pic of uglybug me. privatewire, AnnoyingPentium, Matty and 6 others 9

He's arguably lost the first two with really poor keeping. I like the guy and he's great with the bat but we need a catcher behind the stumps. Does Chris Woakes keep wicket or Foakes typo? Foakes is a much better bat than he's given credit for. He averages just under 40 in First-Class and 32 in his (11) Tests. Bairstow averages 43 in First-Class and 37 in Tests. It's not the gulf in class it's made out to be and having a specialist wicket-keeper is surely worth more than 10 runs per Test. If it's about balance in the side, then keep Woakes in the side. Very good bowler, decent bat. BeEP and grogee 2

Trouble is Bairstow is best mates with Stokes, so even though hes not having a good Ashes he is unlikely to dropped for the much better keeper in Foakes. GrumpiusMaximus and grogee 2

grogee Posted July 8, 2023 Author Posted July 8, 2023 Have a pic of Mrs Grogee and Master Grogee on their maiden voyage in it. I figured I used less than a gallon of diesel to get from Nottingham, about 60 miles away. Less than £8. My train ticket was £33 and all of the Cross Country trains were broken in one respect or another. First on the To Do list: squeaky brakes. I've invested in some new shims, and I'll give the calipers and sliders a good seeing to once I have some time. I've also got some service bits coming inc finest* Mannol oil. @SmokinWaffle kindly provided a fuel filter, and I'll give the AC a going over with my anti bacterial foamy spray stuff then throw in a new cabin filter. I've also got a new glove box to go on, and I need to have a go at treating the scratches on the OSR with some magic paste. I'm wondering if this is the vehicle we should use for our Devon trip later this month. Yes it's small, but there's only the three of us and it's just a couple of nights away so not loads of luggage. Mrs Grogee has it in her head that we'll be going in the BMW I'm picking up next weekend, but paying less than half the fuel cost might sway the decision - more money for Lambrini. This afternoon I've been having a good old go at the Maestro ahead of tomorrow's show. I was going to do full polish and wax but I couldn't be arsed so it was just a bucket of suds and a rinse. Did the windows which were dirty and gave it a good old hoover out too. Hopefully fit and proper for tomorrow's show. No pics but check my spannering thread for a Maestrogasm - I hope there's cake for the 40th birthday. tooSavvy, Dan302, GrumpiusMaximus and 11 others 13 1

But given that Mrs Grogee's tastes are pretty MOR in most respects (apart from her weird husband) I think the Corsa might hit the spot. Vauxhall must have aimed this right in the middle of the Mr and Mrs Average demographic so therefore it hasn't got anything to offend (with the possible exception of that stupid Vauxhall indicator stalk). Mrs Grogee has declared it Fit for Purpose which is a relief. My own impressions? Bags of torque, easy to make swift progress. Light steering, good brakes, feels very stable. It's obviously a supermini in terms of the attention paid to NVH (mostly none) so you can definitely hear what's going on underneath. But you have to remember I'm coming from an Espace that had a standard fit 14 tog duvet as soundproofing. Controls took a bit of getting used to but I had it sussed within half an hour. There's quite a bit of kit inc cruise and auto everything. The auto wipers were tested on my journey today and they were excellent. As was the air con. Reassuring to see a manual handbrake. I guess there's a reason vanilla is so popular - it just works, and tastes nice. AnnoyingPentium, somewhatfoolish, Tickman and 3 others 6

Does it need spraying? It has some scratches along the top edge from where it was stored, so it'll need some paint there eventually. I'll take scratches over rusty and bent any day though! As a bonus, it was £50, has no major rot and is even the right colour. I'll do an update on my thread in the next few days, just as soon as I can make this bastard new exhaust fit properly... grogee 1

beko1987 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I had use of a corsa c for a year once (when the ex was pregnant with our first she found my puma more comfortable, and her corsa was more economical so we swapped for a while) and did grow to like it! Hammer down, build up the speed and keep it there. Easy to fix too, once you trawl through the 'how do I lower it and put a phat exhaust on it bruv' posts there'll be a how to guide for most things and parts are cheap! grogee 1

Having the scuttle out of any random car is always a good idea though (especially from my history of the blower fan being under there on zx's and being showered with shit on many occasions 👌) Cavcraft and grogee 2

The Puma is going to Sister Grogee to live in her garage, and I am making my way to the Land of Dragons to pick up @w00dys car. But first, clear out her garage to make some space for the Puma.
