This is not the greatest car in the world, no. This is just a Tribute...

As far as I can tell, there are no Mazda Tributes currently on eBay or Autotrader.

Back in 1998 I knew someone who's first car was one of these. Must have been a proper UK car because it was right hand drive. I honestly can't remember seeing one since.

That's proper obscure Kev, well done. Alas our XG30 dreams will remain unfulfilled.

Beautiful early 00s V6 saloon.

I have always sorely wanted one.

Have we had the Rio estate? It came out in 2000 and was already well out of date. And had terrible fuel economy.

No XG30 for me. I got all that out of my system some years back in Seoul when I blew my expenses on an airport transfer in a Ssangyong Chairman 😁

There was pretty cool one floating around for sale on Retrorides and eBay a couple of years ago , it was lowered on Freelander rims ( really) .  I think @xtriplealmost  bought it , or maybe did buy it, I can’t remember.

Posted

Retroshite had one very briefly about 5 years ago too. Ideally I'd like a tidy one as I don't think they'll be that expensive since literally 1 person in the UK (me) wants one.

MPVs really do seem to be a prime source of forgettable motors. All this talk of Space Wagons and Space Stars has reminded me of another "Space" MPV, this time from Toyota... the Space Cruiser.

Lots of MPVs get accused of being vans with windows, but these things really were!

Wasn’t that nicknamed the Space Hopper because the handing so bad with its bouncy suspension?

Didn't know that mainland Europe had a facelifted version, although I was aware it was based on the Vauxhall Signum platform

Renault saved themselves by selling Dacias in the UK, Citroen started with the C4 Cactus and DS3 and Fiat had the 500.

The former 2 have done well to develop ranges out of these but what happened to Fiat 500X and 500L? I haven't seen an example of either in quite some time.

Just looked at their 2023 range, Christ.

I'll nominate the Tipo as a forgotten car that's still in production.

The Panda looks cool though.

Remember the excitement* about Fiat Brava rear lights in 1996?

I saw loads as hire cars at one point. It’ll be one of those like the Malaga where the last one gets crushed but nobody noticed.
