There are a couple of restored Capris around, but make your own mind up as to originality there.   The X-pack Mk2 3-litre Capri and TR7 and Dolly Sprint and the SD1 3500 seem to have disappeared   Long time ago.

The TR7 and Dolly Sprint survive, and Cowley's Red Granada seems to survive but isn't taxed

and what about Cowleys Granada

I was surprised that the TR7 and Dolly Sprint survive but Cowley's Granada only had an MOT in 2014, so may be in a collection

A lot of pre 1980 cars won't be taxed or Mot'ed now so it is difficult to assess whether they're still on the road or rusting in a shed somewhere.

Bear in mind that they should be taxed, even if it is free, if they're on the road.  You're spot on about the MOTs, though (which I think is crazy - and my MOT examiner says it has made his job boring!)

Just going on what I was told by a local car club member with a mint cabby (forget which one he said it was).

The Rover was also used in The New Avengers. (Can't remember which way round but in one it was plated MOO and in the other MOC)

Steed's XJ 12 coupe resurfaced a few years ago, sold for big money at auction and was being restored

The XJ12 looked pretty original when it surfaced, I know with the Capris from the Professionals there was agg about how one of them was basically reshelled but then again what 45 year old Capri hasn’t had serious structural work done.

Mrs was just watching Hi de hi and there was this MG on it.

Quick look and it was last taxed in 1982

But the show wasn't broadcast until 1988, so it had obviously been off the road for a bit, even by the time it was on telly.

Is it likely to be part of a 'prop' set of cars at the BBC or something?

Of course the DVLA records could be bollocks....

That's the T reg Capri.

The silver & gold ones used in the last couple of series survived in pretty original condition  ( I believe at one point in the 90's a guy in the Midlands owned both).

The original registration of the Rover was MOC229P, which was retouched to read MOO229R for using in The Professionals.

Purdey's MGB was MOC232P.

Land Rover provided new Discovery's for every series of Time Team. Surely plenty of them still exist?

I remember reading about the guy who had tracked down the silver and gold Capris in Top Gear magazine in the mid 90s.

The only thing I can recall from the article was that one of the cars had it's engine sitting in the boot when he found it.  (Sorry can't be of more help,  it's daft the stuff you remember sometimes).

They were also featured in an article in Popular Classics in about 1995/6, had a cursory look through my archives but I don't think I have that one any more.

Another dodgy plate, I’m afraid.

Comes back as a1960 MGA , which is still around. Even on pre-war MG lickers forums there’s some debate as to exactly what this car was (is)  The consensus is that it’s a modified N Type Magnette.

Don't want to be picky (I love being picky!) but it wouldn't have been Nora Batty's, she didn't drive. It would have been Thora Hird's character, wife of Wesley who would have maintained it. Of all the dozens of characters in the show he seemed to be the only one who drove (baths on wheels don't count).

Yes, Edie Pegden not Nora Batty. Have to honest I've probably only seen a dozen episodes, one of those programmes I'd watch if it was on when there were only 4 channels

They repeat them on Yesterday but it's always the more recent episodes, which are still over 20 years old, but to me it has to be Foggy, Compo and Clegg, I think they were genuinely funny. After that it just felt a bit forced, just a home for retired actors.

I know what you mean. Those three WERE Last of the Summer wine. Bit like Top Gear, not the same since….

Saw something worthy of this thread today. Yes, that's the actual Sweeney Consul just casually sitting among everything else at the Moggerhanger Park show.
