To be fair, I think a guy in the Guild has already created one of these in the metal, but look at this!  Where's my angle grinder?!

This seems obvious too...

I like how it sort of kept the suicide rear doors!

The car that saved AMC...

They took the Eagle concept, and shoved it under the Pacer...

Including the Pacer Wagon

In 1984 it got a small facelift

And again in 1987

Before it was looking a bit dated and got a heavy refresh for the 1993 model year.

Sales did end, but in 1999 they planned a transverse, New Pacer for the 21st century.

It flopped. AMC ended up with Stellantis anyway.

And desperate for an answer to the R5 E-Tech...

It's certainly better than the new Capri.

Anything would be.

Particularly when the RX8 was /right there/ with MX-5 power frame to handle the lower crank.

Meanwhile, at Stellantis...

Customer clinic gives America the AMC E-Pacer, heading off the Dodge, and Jeep TrailPacer attempts.

A subtle change... for the AMX edition.

But in Europe... AMC means nothing.

Yeah, it's more Kadett City than GT/E but...

I'm not hating what the UK gets out of it.

I actually think AI did well with this. Particularly impressed with the nod to the coke bottle up sweep of the rear door profile. I like it a lot.

What's the bastard result when one of the ugliest cars ever built reproduces with one of the prettiest?

I present to you the Jaecooghini Miura7!

Customer clinic didn't like the Capri.

I’m sure they would have sold a lot of either of those rather than the electric blob they’ve cynically used the name in.

Unearthed during a visit to the BBC archives...

A British version of Knight Rider. Not Professionals with a black Capri - actual British equivalent.

Set to air in 1983, Knight Driver stars Tom Baker as "Sir" - an agent presumed lost during cold war espionage, and smuggled back.

I first learned of it from a cut segment from popular science show "Tim Morrow's World"

The car - the cutting edge MG Maestro. The car is called Maestro, and in the show real-life boffin Clive Sinclair plays the role of the designer.

It was going to be the bundled game for 1983 Christmas deals with the Spectrum!
