I was so tempted by this as a replacement for the 2CV, until I phoned Footman James for an insurance quote and after keeping me hanging on for ages, told me they couldn't insure it on my classic insurance as it was under 30 years old! They will insure 2CV's up to 1990 though.

Still a thing of beauty though - I'm in love with that brown interior

Talk about poverty-stricken!

Probably 2wd and on 13s, as well. It has done well to survive in this state.

Haven't seen a first generation Justy in a while.

Slightly optimistic pricing policy, I fear.

This would suit me down to a tee if it wasn't for the fact I would one day have to sell it and I know the sort of people who will come knocking on my door to buy it.

Er, that's bollocks. I could get insured on 1993 Volvo 480 Turbo on a frigging classic policy with FJ. I think the person you spoke to needs more training.

Yeah, FJ's got a bit big now, and too many people there don't know what they're on about! Always gets difficult deciding where the cut-off is for the classic tag, but I've had relatively modern stuff covered by them (albeit hideously expensive!)

Posted

Always been about 20 years when I've spoke to them, though they told me they'll do a ferrari at 5 years old. They wouldn't do my 1990 Bluey last year when it was 19 years old but agreed to insure a '90 sunny coupe ZX because it was such an oddball.

I've know people get 1995 cars on classic policies with them, however, so honestly fuck knows!

try peter d james, better and cheeper than footman james.

peter d james used to be the james in fj, but fj was bought out by an american company and my insurance started to go up year after year.

my mate told me about peter d james and i pay £91-50 for an imp super, singer chamois, and hillman husky, fully comp, unlimited milage with me and the wifey to drive.

and i will be adding the celica to the policy shortly.

My dad had an N reg Cavalier 1.7 TD and an M reg Merc E220 insured with RH, no fuss. The only problem is classic insurance and my age, 19, the only two companies I found who would insure me full stop were FJ and Adrian Flux, Flux wanted £1500 for a 1957 A35, FJ wanted £450. It was an extra £300ish to add the 1986 2CV to the policy, but when I try to add a 1985 Maestro - no way

Someone beat you to it Pog

the previous owner then hand painted it pink and black,

Hopefully the reserve will keep it from the oval.

Aye. Deserves better. Hadn't even realised that the MkVI could come with a column gearchange - thought they were all floor change by then.

Well it looks like I've sold the Falcon and it's being picked up tomorrow. So the only rational thing to do is buy another rwd Ford

Loses points for being an auto though, plus it would be my 3rd yellow car in a row

Gains points for being beige, however

Was running great but the clutch cable is loose and is rattling around, will need to be looked at. I don't have the inclination to fix and I need the space. Will need to be towed/transported. Cannot be put into gear at present.

Hmmm I can't imagine it being something that simple

This looks appealingly miserable

4 litres of straight 6 loveliness. Also appears to be beige

This is also tempting if I put a cheeky bid in

Finally here is some porn, down under style

Very short numberplate on that Sierra. I assume there's no crazy personalised plate trading in NZ?

Lots of personalised plates around. However you are allowed any combination of numbers and letters you want, between 1 and 6 digits. Hence you actually get proper words and a lot of them are genuinely funny or relevant. A few examples from the first page of results

Ah, so if you can have whatever you like, short original plates have no value.

"SHAGADELIC"

I reckon the only shags you'd get in this would be with some disgusting old fishwife in a basildon car park whilst 11 grimy men furtively look on.

Original Brooklands. Spares or repair. Been in a storage container for 9 years - Everything is rusty or mouldy

Interestingly it has some newspaper cutting in the photo saying it's the last Capri made plus it's registered 12th May 1988 which is very late, I wonder if it really is a bit more special then he's advertised it as?.
