Trust me....when it's that height, it won't be that good to drive....without additional work

It's shite to drive anyway! haha! I didn't buy it to drive any good, just to ponce around in slowly!

A mate had a 1.6LS with lowering blocks and -1" 170lbs springs (Rally Design still sell these, and other heights/rates) - it went very well. Might have had something to do with the A008 Yokos, too.

I've always found you need to uprate the shocks, the bushes and add an A Frame to the rear axle if you want them to handle, springs only just ain't enough...mind it will still only be a Capri

Looks just like stale piss. Have you got a UTI?

Looks like something you might see flying out of a truckers window onto the central reservation.

Cheeky.

Smells like petrol.

Oh and there was a mouse chewed sheepskin coat in the boot - very 80's car dealer.

great stuff there. How much did you get it for? Very Tall Brad (Of Rover 800s collector fame) has one of these as his daily, he loves it, and I've been in it, seriously powerful. I'm aiming to buy one of these myself, but I fear it may be a long time before I could even consider it.

The drivers door window glass arrived for my Pao from Japan yesterday, so i tore into the door hoovered all the shrapnel out and it's now fully weatherproof 8) Just the valves to grind in now and head / cambelt to refit :)

WHOOSH! Maestro is nice, much work needed for MOT do you think?

Hopefully not a great deal. I took it for a drive and it felt very nice, the tyres are legal and the brakes seem ok. There are a few bits of welding to do, by the strut mounts on each side of the boot and a bit at the back of the sill, but it is generally a very tidy old bus. I probably paid a bit too much, but it was in the colour and spec I wanted, plus it was local....oh and one owner from new and 29k miles :D

Some more shots from the Ebay ad.

Awesome work with the Maestro

Sold the Falcon this evening to a Steve Irwin impersonator (no, really). Going to look at a mk.4 Cortina tomorrow (posted it in the ebay tat thread) which from the description and phone call will be awesomely miserable

I was thoroughly underwhelmed by my Maestro, but as a way of getting about, it was absolutely fine. Mind you, mine wasn't beige with a brown interior - perhaps that's where I went wrong. It didn't have steel bumpers either. Seduced by the high specification of the 1.3 L I was.

That is a nice Maestro Dicky. GR8 for collecting Pension. Or for confusing the hell out of the Saxo and C2 drivers posing on Southend seafront!

Are you going to giffer it up with tartan rug and tissue box on the rear shelf?

Got to be done really ;) Should add a bit of class to Southend seafront :)

After replacing the clutch cable on the Ginetta a month ago, it popped off the clutch arm yesterday. Another drive home without the clutch

But it was an easy fix, I don't think I adjusted it properly before. 15 minutes and it was all done.

A drive through town today in very heavy traffic (everyone going home to watch the footy?) I must have averaged about walking pace for the 5 mile round trip. And the car didn't overheat - woo hoo :D

It's never overheated, but today must have been the most severe test since I've owned the car. When owning a shed, you have to take these small victories

My sister's freshly MOT'd and serviced car just lost its coolant and overheated on the motorway. Recovery man reckons it's finished. I'm going to go have a look. :?

wow, gorgeous Maestro. They got it wrong with that car by offering it in different colours, trims and specs. Clearly beige/brown base model is where it's at, why bother making them any differently?

Wow, great stuff there Mr Angry, I'd happily tool around that Meastro around with a big grin on my face.

I had a great maestro-based idea the other day.

1) find a maestro 1.3 in a scrapyard and buy its engine and gearbox.

2) get a cheap Mk3 golf, 1.8 GTi 8v ideally.

3) take the engine out the golf and chuck it in your neighbours garden.

4) fit the 1275 A-series into the golf - VW golf gearbox innit so driveshafts, gear linkage etc will plug straight in.

5) put on dreadlocks and silly trainers, saw off springs, add stickers etc and rock up at nearby VW gathering.

6) go to another VW gathering 2 weeks later and see a field full of A-series powered golfs.

7) smile quietly to self.

Top tip: If you're in need of VW scene shoes, just pop to your local bowling alley and book a lane, swap your shoes over, then simply get in your car and drive away.

I fitted the other side of the Capri's wheel spacers this evening, so it now is sitting on lovely rims all round. just got to wait for my lowering blocks to arrive and then i can get on with the OMGSPRINGCHOPPINGZYO! and it'll look a damn sight better for it :)

My scabby Astra Estate swallowed a full sized pallet loaded with gubbins today, glad I got it now. :D

Seriously, get some pukka lowered springs for the Capri - you can choose what poundage you want, and they'll sit properly. Fergus (My mate) had -1" 170s on his but we both reckoned 190 would have been better, especially if going lower.

Stop press. Renault 21 is to leave Dollywobbler Towers, to be replaced by an enormous Citroen CX estate...

More to follow on this exciting story. Will it actually make it back to his house? What will his wife say when the French monster looms over her Mini and leaves no parking space?!

First step. Actually find a convenient time for the transfer. Hmmm.

Oh, CX estate. I like them. Huge things! They did two lengths didn't they? One with limo spec rear leg room?

Also, Bo11ox, I implore you to try the Austin Golf conversion. :D

Estates were all the same enormous length Seth - it was the saloons that were two lengths - the Prestige ran on an estate floorpan.
