kadams1970 Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hi there, Been a reader for a while, thought I'd post and say hi. I'm the chap that created and runs www.aronline.co.uk and my life story is one of tat. You name it, I've owned it. Here's my current car, which is just about to be MoT'd - it's nice to be aboard here... /K
Pete-M Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Nice. I like SD1s. Is that the one that was restored in Poland?
Pete-M Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I'm getting an Escort done in Czech at the moment...
messerschmitt owner Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hi Keithnice to see you here!Campbell
kadams1970 Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 People are so kind...Are you enjoying the Czech restoration?/K
Pete-M Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 It's not bad. It's been there since June and not a lot has happened, but I'll pop over sometime soon and see how it's doing. Last time I saw it, it was only a little bit on from this. Which isn't too good for four months in, but I'm not worried. It's a Mk2 Escort. It's gaining in value...
Parky Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hi Keith, I have been a long time observer and admirer of aronline and its good to have you with us!
Guest Tony Hayers Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Welcome in.That SD1 looks lovely, I saw that somwhere (on T.V) being taken to Poland on a trailer dragged by a RR classic.Keep up the good work with aronline, its a pot of gold for BL info and I quite like the prototype pictures of the Sierra Hope you get your 9000 back.Happy motoring - Jetronic.
Timewaster Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I'm the chap that created and runs www.aronline.co.uk and my life story is one of tat. You name it, I've owned it. I LOVE that site. I've read every word.Thank you!! Welcome to Autoshite!
Pillock Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Yeah, there's some fascinating information on aronline, and it's written in such a way that you can just settle down with a bottle of plonk and lose yourself in 1970's Birmingham for a while.Or is that just me?
Captain Mainwaring Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Do you really WANT to go back to 1970s Birmingham? Nice to see you on here Mr Adams.
UglyAmerican Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hello Keith!I enjoyed reading about your SD1 in this month's Octane (or perhaps it's now last month's edition, as I depend on the U.S. mail to ferry it across the Atlantic).Since you've shocked us all and been kind enough to pop up here, I'll pitch a question your way -- will this SD1 fill the role of the daily driver for you? On the one hand, it's a bit of a classic and you've sunk some coin into it. On the other hand, it's a Rover and it's mean to be enjoyed! Thanks!Justin
kadams1970 Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 JustinStill thinking about. It would be a great daily runner, and I think I might convert it to LPG in order to make it more cost-effective.Once it's MoT'd, I'll make a decision on that :)And thanks all for the warm welcome - it means a lot.../K
VWPowered Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 awesome site dude, love that rover its the nad's oh and welcome
andrew e Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 No welcome from me till I get my SAAB overalls out the back of that first picture
kadams1970 Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 Karma - you can have them when I pick up the AX :)
andrew e Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Charged the battery last night, new ionised water and all. Its still 2 miles from the AX though
michiel Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hello from Holland, I quite like aronline too, hope I'll need it someday as an A or R owner...
kadams1970 Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 Hi Michiel - thank you for your kind words.AR ownership takes a sense of humour and dedication to the cause. But I'm guessing we all understand that only too well :)/K
trigger Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hi Keith, I've seen you and your cars in magazines and of course I've been on your website very many times and thoroughly enjoyed it, I also remember your white SD1 being on a TV program, i can't remember which it was now though! It great to have on the forum and look forwards to your input on any more AR debates we have!.
kadams1970 Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 Hi Trigger, Thanks for that. It was on Wreck Rescue on the Discovery Channel, and is often repeated. I've never seen it myself. I didn't dare watch it for fear of throwing up /K
shite_meister Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Hi Keith good to see you here, I've also spent many an hour on your AR site-stirling work if you'll pardon the poor pun.I also followed your progress on the SD1 being a massive fan and previous owner of many, also having driven to Poland I have to say I would not like to do it towing another car, are you pleased with the final result?
ashmicro Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Hi Keith, welcome aboardI've been a reader of aronline for yonks. You da man!
Betaphile Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Another big fan of AROnline here, saying hi from 'Straya - home of such shite awesomeness as the Austin Kimberley, Marina six and P76. Welcome...
seth Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Hello I was recently made aware of an excellent BMC/Borgward article on your site. There's always something on there to discover!
Gompo Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Hi KeithYou'll probably be getting a bit fed up of this kind of thing, but I too adore AROnline, particularly the articles on project/car development and design. I enjoy the odd Octane read too.Ever thought about filling a book full of the best articles from AROnline?Cheers, Greg.
kadams1970 Posted January 17, 2010 Author Posted January 17, 2010 Ever thought about filling a book full of the best articles from AROnline?Cheers, Greg.Hi GregIt's an interesting question, and the view from big publishers like Haynes is that there's not enough commercial demand to do a book about BL and its history... I'd beg to differ, but they seem to know what's best.My thoughts were to self-publish, but again, who'd buy something they can pretty much get already online?RegardsKeith
