So R75 fans. This car ticks all boxes for Mrs Cookie. But I'm struggling to come up with a price to offer. I've spoken to seller, most of what he says in advert checks out.

Rather worried its a manual, but car seems to have been very well looked after. Just can't bring myself to pay 2k for it.

So what do you think its worth?

The insurance claim means nothing if you keep it.

But moving it on for anywhere near that price will be difficult. MOT's a bit short too.

It's £1,500 tops to me.  Less with the short MOT.  But the clutch, like mine or any other could go tomorrow.

My last one had over 150,000. Latest  one has under 100,000. There's a noticeable difference in driving and underside condition.

It's true mainly Old Codgers buy them, but If you get the right one it's worth an extra £500.

It's my 75's 20th birthday today.  Well 20th registration anniversary anyway, I haven't tried to look up the date of manufacture.

Have a pic of the old crate in Scotland a few years back:

It's my 75's 20th this year as well. Got a few faults but drives lovely. So smooth, so comfy, such good value. £2k for a 194,000 miler with a short ticket? Too much. With the cat N thrown in I'd say £1000 tops. Put a full ticket on it, maybe £1200 tops £1500.

I ran the car in to the local garage this morning to get the A/C system pressure tested.  Turns out it holds pressure absolutely fine.  Which is good in a way, but also bad in another way because it doesn't give me an excuse not to attempt to fit the new aircon belt, which is an awkward twat of a job.

This photo was posted on the 75 FB page (credit to the chap who put his name in the bottom left corner). He claimed 2004 but can spot an 05 plate so likely at least 2005.   Interesting to see how many 75s you can spot.

They were reasonably popular 'back in the day'

Here are my (old) two.

Both 2.5 V6, the blue one I owned for about a week. Bought it as a second chance offer on eBay, and the water pump sprang a leak within days.

The black one was SUPER minty and I ran that for just over a year before selling it to fund my current Vitesse. I removed the crappy V6 badges and put a proper rear plate on it.

Back from 2 weeks holiday, car parked at Heathrow. I did pack a boost pack in the boot just in case. But no worries she started beautifully. Felt so good to drive back home, only drawback was no Aircon so a bit stuffy ( but nothing compared to Hong Kong!) So I ordered one of those home Aircon kits from eBay. It arrived yesterday, 20 minutes later I have nice cold Aircon happy days. Let's see how long it lasts, but I did use some stop leak stuff as well and I know the car had a new condenser a few years ago, fingers crossed. I REALLY like this car!

Bit of a long shot, but would anyone like a non-MoT'd V8 75? The sills probably need a tickle and the rear subframe is a risk. I've done all the other expensive bits to it. Runs fine, has LPG.

They seem to go for 7-8k in decent MoT'd condition, mine isn't decent or MoT'd so I'm open to offers for less then half that. Just need it shifted tbh, I've got too many cars.

Did this ever sell do you know?

anyone know of a breakers that specialises in 75s ?

I'm after a torque converter but it needs to be from a 1.8 K series auto.

College motors - they have fb page.

Also join the owners club fb group. They will be able to point you in right direction.

Other groups available too, that are really good.

As my ZTT has been (a tad expensively) coaxed through an MOT and I need to use it a fair bit this month, including a trip to the frozen wastes of the West Midlands, I reckon it's time I sorted the rear wiper. It is stopped in the upright position.

My instinct is wires from body to tailgate, but plan to check for electric presence at the motor first, if I can get all the trim off to get to it. Anything else that's common on these? Pretty sure it's not the fuse as it has moved a small amount on a couple of occasions. TIA.

I went to a 75/ZT meet in Gretna yesterday.

It was a really good afternoon and the location afforded decent food and toilet facilities at the nearby Gretna Centre (not the big outlet one, a much smaller, independent affair)

The age demographic meant I was about the youngest there but that was irrelevant as I spoke to some very interesting people. Especially the chap who saved the red ZT estate from scrap and which had previously been used both as a logging (yes!) car and a painter and decorator's hack.

The Copperleaf MK1 with the 'AYR' registration was my favourite as it was absolutely immaculate.

Did you resolve this?

Yes. As I posted in the wrong thread,  the 75 & ZT forum suggested the spindle through the tailgate glass is likely to be stuck. I was sceptical but on opening the glass (such a handy feature, not having to open the whole tailgate) it was indeed jammed fast. It resisted my attempts to tap it out while in situ, so I removed the housing and proceeded to hit the spindle on a vice which eventually worked.

Said spindle had some corrosion and pitting, but a few* minutes with some wet-and-dry later it was turning smoothly. I cleaned the brass(?) bush up as best as I could in place, as it showed no inclination to leave the housing. A smear of Copperease from an >20yo tube round the spindle, all reassembled and working again.

My worry with those colours (and the equivalent ZS) was that you get a single scratch and the car's written off.
Apparently, almost impossible to match a panel.

Love it.  Please roffle it at some point, I want it to pair with the similarly coloured TVR 😃

(Yes the paint can't really be colour matched...stone chips are the bane of my life)

yeah the paint is very difficult to match I'm lucky as my boss has painted a lot of chameleon paints back in the early 2000s he's pretty confident he can match it when we paint the spoiler and the side trims, the paint is also very expensive at 400 pounds a litre!

Four hundred pounds?

Blimey, someone told me paint had gone up in price, but that's pricey!

I remember when £400/litre paint would make a car worthless to 90% of people 😅

Ah that reminds me, apparently this weekend was the last "Max Power" festival ever.😆

Apparently the original TVR flip paint is 1000 quid a litre.

This aftermarket stuff is 582 quid after VAT:
