The grumpy thread

Fucking MG-Rover forum seems to be full of self-opinionated twats who think they know about world conflicts and religions and pass off thier baseless opinions as fact.

I've got family in Syria living day to day not knowing whether they will make it to the next day or not. Myself and old_man_Sterling are worried sick and feel useless and then you get these twats cheering on the very people who pose a threat to my families safety.

Oh yeh, and - Blonde woman in the Black BINI convertible, What is your problem? - Actually, it makes me laugh to see just fuming she gets when she sees me trundling down in the Micra. She's tried to bully me off the road twice now. Strangely enough, I find it rather amusing.

It's hard to believe the Syria you see on TV nowadays is the same place you saw only a couple of years ago on that Top Gear Christmas special in the Middle East. Damascus looked beautiful in that, it must be horrible for the folk stuck in the middle of the shit that's going on there just now. :(

It is SH. I've not been there for at least 10 years. I had a chance to go in 2009 when I stayed in Kuwait for a few months, but FATHA_Sterling couldnt find a cheap enough ticket. We bith regret that decisiin now. I could have had a chance to see my uncles, aunts and cousins and really see the place again. Myself and ole_Dad_Sterling cannot go back now at all. One of Fathaz mates went back early in the conflict to help his family and got shot dead by a sniper

Soz 2 Autoshitez peeps about this not being car related....

Bodges only last so long... I think the exhaust may have started to blow on the Princess again. We all know how much I enjoyed fixing that before, I swore it would go to a garage when it needed doing again.

Mo,

most of the gom/p and antidote posts are not really car related, and tbh i feel they (and A/S in general) are like a night in your local with old mates - you can say what the fuck you like and as long as no beer is spilled everything is good*.

much of the stuff here just has nowhere else on the intertubes to go , and that is one of the reasons why autoshite is such a nice place to be 8)

*unless you rattle can a car matt black

Must be a micra thing as mrs maxpower had same problem today with some bint driving a merc kompressor, tail gating her with horn blaring

and as the missus has just started driving after 12yrs as a passenger you can imagine how shook up she was, but not as half as shook up when she got out of her car at the lights and told the bitch to come out of her car

As usual they take the cnuts stance and stare straight ahead and pretend you are not there.

now the daughter is taking driving lessons and even a mong threatened her instructor!! wtf is this world coming to?

It's a small car thing. My lad gets it quite a bit in his Corsa, and I do if I drive small cars. I think the wankers who tailgate/try and force their way through etc assume because you're driving a small car you've either just passed your test or are elderly or something so they think you won't react.

I'm going to get a sticker made for the back of my car that says 'The closer you get, the slower I go' because I always decrease my speed when there's some nil-witted tosspot behind me trying to make me break the speed limit.

Posted

I notice more people pull out in front of me or tailgate me more when I'm in the Alto then any other of my cars. Wankers.

Posted

Agreed. It's a small car thing, an automotive dick (or clit) waving exercise. Driving the Moose (slightly tatty '99 Volvo) people actually seem to stay out of my why, as invariably their car is newer and better* than mine, but driving Mrs_Outlaw's Fiesta (08 reg, SHINY) people just seem to think they can pull out, tailgate or whatever.

I get it a bit in the work van too, because it's signwritten, it's an excuse for people to carve me up or whatever, thinking that "If he reacts I'll phone the number and complain".

Well, go ahead, I've got news for you sunshine, my boss doesn't really give a shit. :D

Oh, and Billy:

Whilst I am still logging on every now and then, I seem to have lost a lot of my car mojo at the mo and can be arsed posting anything interesting or witty or informative (although some will probably say I never did). Will be back once it returns.

Yeah, it does get a bit dry. I find myself just posting 'nice car M8!' type posts 90% of the time now I am shiteless. What a loser.

Ebay idiots, "I'll be over today mate" - that was 4 days ago. Someone wanting to check the colour match on something (new) that's 80% cheaper than in the shop, 3 days and counting and one buyer who's kept quiet for a week despite it being collection only.

Lost most of my hours at work. Grossly unfair and utterly crippling given that I went through a horrible consultation to get them in the first place.

Expect a massive purge of crap for sale in the next few days - after all I've got the time!

Posted

Jon, how many people affected? Others too, or just you? What consultation was there, and how was the decision made? If your hours alone were cut - or if your hours were given to someone else - that's potentially unlawful.

Happy to help/advise if you need it.

Everyone goes though that at some point, just part of life I suppose. I'm doing that thing at the moment where I type a message out then just think ahh, bollocks, I can't be arsed now, then don't bother.

Billy could you impart this wisdom to the people on the Facebook group and then those of us who don't book our faces won't have to hear the whinging from those who do.

Yeah, but I'd type the message out then not post it!

I was going to type a funny, witty reply to you, but I couldn't be bothered! ;-)

Sorry, I should clarify. I got the [extra] hours because of the consultation. I was only working 18 hours a week at that point, and got considerably more hours after going through the consulation. I signed a contract for these hours. Now, because of an issue I can't go into, they want to get rid of my weekday shift and give it to someone else, because they can't rearrange the shift in any other way.

Unfortunately I'd only had these hours for 2 weeks, and then the problem emerged when I went away on placement. Quite horrible to have a decent amount of hours then getting bumped back to having next to sod-all after an amazing placement. I can't go into specifics about what this problem was, other than it was a very subjective reason, and in my line of work, the client is king [this sounds foul but I assure you it isn't, before WTC makes some shite quip about Fred the Weatherman].

I can't survive and pay bills on 12 hours a week, and I get the feeling they wanted this to happen and could have sorted it had they really tried.

I'll PM you the specifics, because there is something fishy in the flaps of fairness this eve.

Sorry to be hammering the GOM thread folks. I suppose you can tell when I'm on my uppers \ properly annoyed \ very upset because I don't eff and blind. This is one of those occasions.

I'm trying to slow work down a bit, so that my loss of hours is more gradual. Whether I manage this is up to them, but I made the HR lady squirm a bit when I started asking questions, so there may be some leeway. Or not. Who knows?

The upshot of this is that I am going to have a clear-out. It was coming anyway. My inevitable problem with employment always comes around this time, although I haven't lost my job, I've just had the hours reduced to more or less sod-all.

I'll be getting pictures of the following in a few days' time. Ironically, I'm still at work, so can't make anything available for viewing or post straight away.

Let's start with the big stuff:

Set of 4 15 x 7" ATS Centras. Good condition, deep dish, complete with four shagged Nankang NS-2s on a cretinous stretch. £250 collected.

Set of 4 14 x 6" Gutmann Cross Spokes. Decent condition, will need a re paint. No tyres. £200 collected.

Set of 4 14 x 6" Peugeot 405 Mi16 5 spoke alloys. The early type, fitted in 1988. Good condition, no tyres. £150 collected.

Momo Volvo Roma steering wheel. OEM extra on the 700 \ 900 series. Great condition, very rare. No boss adaptor. £180 posted (this is damn cheap, trust me)

Momo Volvo Daytona steering wheel. OEM extra on the 400 series. Fair condition, currently on my 460, cut in top of spoke, boss adaptor included. £40 posted.

Moto-Lita Volvo Amazon 14" steering wheel. Wood rim, plain horn push, hub adaptor, fair condition, slatted spokes, no dish. £120 posted.

1:43 IXO Le Mans Ford Mustang GT 350 road car - As new, with sleeve. £12 posted.

1:43 Lumnyo (Norev) Isuzu Piazza Irmscher Nero. As new, with sleeve. £15 posted. These are bloody expensive. This is half price to your door.

1:43 Norev Isuzu Asso Di Fiori. No sleeve, otherwise excellent condition - £12 posted.

Plus a fuck load of those Corgis I still have and lots of 35mm cameras - although they will probably be hitting eBay.

I'm going to offload some of my wheeled shite as well, although I imagine the car I want to sell is going to bring all kinds of fuckwits out of the woodwork.

Jon, anything under 16 hours per week and you can sign-on too, it's not a great solution but it might just help.

I'm not quite ready to go there yet, but it's a last gasp option.

Fuck me, 500 miles of veg and the fuel pump is PISSING out from the pump head seal. Looks like I'm going to have to get acquainted with rebuilding diesel pumps (although apparently you can replace this seal with the pump in place)

Well, my first post on the new forum....

Yesterday I had a really shit day, had a huge arguement at work with the mouthy lady I work with, she started getting stressed out about the job I was doing and things got heated, I felt after that I was being ignored by some of the people there. Today though was a bit better, woman still aint talking to me but that suits me fine, I go to work to make mo ey, not make friends.

Also, just brought my car back from Steve but the noise is still there, good thing is is that I get to use the Rover 45 TD Connoisseur!

i went to see a micra tonite... cheap enough... no pics on site.... only 5mins away from maxpower towers, so i thought why not.

what a bag of nails, pulled up 1st thing i see, dent in boot where last owner had revrsed into a post. needs a c.v joint.( i thought someone was in the boot playing symbols) drivers electric window don't open... so i asked the guy why he put the car up as "excellent condition"?

he said "well it only has 44k on the clock" yeah but the fcukin clock won't mean shit if the car falls apart around it

That £87 Admiral took out of my account without warning and in error should have been refunded by now.  Called them, told that it won't be 3 working days it'll be 2-10 days and it was only actioned yesterday.  The money should be in my account today.  That's money I need for stuff, not money that they're allowed to keep hold of.  Up until this point, Admiral had been faultless.

It's okay, Admiral coughed up today.  That's a relief.

Parcel Force are being pricks. Ordered something via DHL from Germany, who then passed it to Parcel Force who decided they 'didn't understand' my work delivery address.

I've given them all the information I've got, and they're saying its incorrect and they can't release the parcel. Their IVR is shit and you can't speak to someone to trace the package. Their email team takes a week to respond.

Comical really given that I ordered it on May the 12th.................

I had a very interesting experience with ParcelForce this week after someone posted a scrap of paper through my door last week saying parcelforce had tried to deliver a parcel and to give a random mobile number a call. There was no way I was ringing it and telling a stranger when I would or would not be home so rung the redelivery number I got off the web. They told me they were not aware of people posting random scraps of paper through the letter box and apparently my parcel had been delivered a week ago.

Anyways long story cut short. The parcelfoce driver apparently "employs" someone to deliver parcels for him. The parcels are classed as delivered when picked up by this guy who then keeps hold of them until he tries again or he gets a call. What an abolutely shite way to run a business, what the fugg is going on there?

I am in two minds of whether to complain or not, this is quite frankly not acceptable but poor "Graham" is just trying to make a few quid in hard times!
