The grumpy thread

I'm sure there must be a catch to that plan, it all seems too simple.

Just put a litre less oil in when you refil it. Obviously it will have to be first litre that you were going to put in that you leave out, as that would be the one at the bottom.

Worst thing to get on your clothes, it NEVER comes out. I had a tshirt that after five washes and treatment by bicarbonate of soda and all kinds of smell removal I continued to test its immortality to any chemical over the next year. I buried it, submerged it in the fishpond for six months and in a tree through summer. It STILL stinks as it did when my Starions gearbox emptied it's load over me in 2007! Amazing resilienc, five years later!!!

I bet it still crashes randomly while you're watching stuff too.

Sorry if this is old and I've missed it (I don't watch much TV).

Just seen a stupid advertisement for Aviva (the twattishly re-named Norwich Union insurance company), featuring gurning prick Paul Whitehouse, in which they smash a Maestro and Mk2 Cavalier into each other.

Nice to know this is what our extortionate premiums pay for

Fucksticks,

My rear shoes are down to metal and no where in Cambridge seems to have them in stock.

FML. Why can't life be simple?

Home broadband is still buggered, and the mobile is too painful to use for extended periods of surfing (both in terms of connection speed and screen size) so I'm having an enforced interweb-free weekend. Probably not a bad thing in some ways as it means I might get some stuff done round the house (although not to the cars as it's too fugging cold), but still annoying. Engineer is booked for Monday morning (which means using up a half day of holiday) - I'm hoping he a) turns up and B) can fix the problem.

Oh, and added grump, after 8hrs driving with the heater on full blast, towels on the floor, and tubs of rice in the car the damn thing still hasn't dried out.

Sorry bro  I spent ages trying to find where the water was getting in and couldn't. I feel baaad.

I was going to go and do the brakes on the Imp this weekend but ended up drinking too much on Friday night that I was maximus vomitus yesterday and only moved when I needed to get up and barf on the floor on the way to the bathroom. Am still not feeling right today. I cant drink properly anymore.

I too now have hangovers lasting 36 to 48 hours. Problem is I like drinking and smoking too much. Ugh.

I have a similar problem.

It must be pretty bad being in the Czech Republic? Is drinking not quite a popular past-time there?

My mate Tash moved over there a few years ago and used to go to these early morning drinking vodka/shooting animals/drinking vodka/eating said animals/drinking vodka shindigs. They sounded ace.

It's what you drink, I reckon. I find if I drink lager all night I feel like absolute shit the next day, drink mostly vodka and I'm pretty good. Drinking pints of lager with vodka mixed in then blatting a few shots down is about the worse, mostly because that's when I most feel like calling for Huey/speaking to God on the great white telephone.

Volksy got 40 bottles of San Miguel on special offer and headed round to mine to blast it on the Playstation. When the beer ran out we started on the scotch.

Either way, its resulted in the weekend being a write off and the Imp languishing unloved in its garage. Bumhats.

Indeed, they tell me the best hangover cure is a couple of glasses of Slivovice (homemade plum brandy, 50-60%). To me it tastes how I imagine lighter fluid would taste.

As Cav says though a lot of it is due to what you drink. If I drink decent quality Czech beer all night I generally feel ok the next day. Just takes a couple of Rums and I feel shit the next day. Oh and here it's not the done thing to mix spirits with anything, only girls do that apparently. My weak British stomach can't handle it.

Yeah, San Miguel will give you a killer headache in my experience.

I'd rather shoot people than animals tbh. Pissed or not.

I'm the winning bidder on something I don't want anymore on eBay! Really hoping someone bids on it soon!

The meats a little stringy.

Facebook is awash with OMG SNOW CHAOS already and it hasn't even started yet, Normally I don't get a toss but I'm flying out to Amsterdam on Friday for the weekend and if the weather causes my flight to be cancelled i will be mighty pissed off.

^ Just unfriended someone who posted that she's rushing to Morrisons to buy as much bread and milk as possible. It's not even snowing where she lives but it has apparently been mentioned that it might on the weather.

Well she can chuck it all in the bin next week when it's mouldy. I genuinely think at least 50% of the population are retarded.

There was an article on the Mail's website a while ago about some dimwitted couple's survivalist bunker, stocked with frozen perishables. I'll have to find it, it was pretty funny.

I finally got the door fitted on the Puma (after forking out 7 quid for 10 door card clips!) and the interior put back in. I turned it around, masked it all up and primed it all one colour. All looked good other than one little bubble, which I rubbed back with a bit of wet and and dry only to find the shitting hopeless Halfords filler primer underneath hadn't taken and it won't now rub back to an edge. It looks like I'm going to have to rub back the whole quarter and start again. Also while the car was sitting with no door on condensation dripped onto the drivers seat and it now it looks like someone's pissed themselves on it. GR7.4

shitting hopeless Halfords filler primer

Yes, it is. Shitting hopeless that is. A friend has very kindly been doing some paintwork on my car and the paint does not stick to the filler primer. Even just washing the bloody paint down so it could be lacquered (no sandpaper in sight) was making the paint peel.

Proper grey primer over the shit stuff then repainting seems to work OK though (i.e. primer sticks to Halfrauds shite OK even if paint doesn't, no need to go back to the metal).

I've found Halfords stuff alright, I use pound land primer. The tins are 300ml but definitely don't have that much in - I went through three tins in 10 minutes, whereas I did a whole side of a car with two of Halfords. You should use proper panel wipe from a body paint shop, I've not had any crazing/bubbling or that thing where little holes of nothing appear, and I'm rubbish at painting.

First bit of snow here, and already this:

A158 Greetham, both ways at B1195 Slash Lane

A158 Lincolnshire - A158 in Greetham closed in both directions at the B1195 Slash Lane junction, because of an accident and recovery work.

Updated 8 minutes ago

Which means I'll now have to go on the back lanes to work, fuggin' brilliant.

Mouldsworth Motor Museum is to shut!

Jim (the owner) told me when I was up there recently it wasn't looking good, the waterboard wanted to change his lease and make responsible for repairs (or something like that) which is madness due to the costs involved. It's been going for years and was always worth a visit, now the freaking lot (contents) are being auctioned off, starting in March I think.

I got my 1935 BSA pushbike from there along with some old bits and bobs quite recently, Jim's an ace fella and it's a real pisser the place is shutting.
