I think the meaning of the word "racist" has been recently changed to include pretty much everyone rather than an ethnic group, so you could be racist against Poles, French, Germans e.t.c. Pretty much anyone can play the racism card nowadays.

 

I remember a couple of years ago a load of Romanian Gypsies where moved into a housing estate somewhere in Northen Ireland. These Romanian pikeys apparently do noting but steal stuff and cause trouble and after a while the local population got fed up, smashed all their houses up and booted them out. I remember listening to the radio and people ringing in and saying how incredibly racist the people of Northen Ireland were, obviously the outside observers who were calling the racist card were not subject to their neighbourhoods being systematically stripped of anything of value and completely wrecked by these people. Anyway, the Gippos were shipped out for their own safety and I think ended up in the mainland U.K somewhere.

 

Apparently nicking stuff for scrap, fighting in the street and never doing an honest days work is a "cultural thing" that the rest of us don't understand, so we have to put up with it.

I was out in the Escort earlier and went past a car boot sale that was winding down so popped in to have a quick look. While walking around I was aware of some 'travellers' also having a look about.

 

As I got back in my car I heard a load of wheel spinning and general arsing about in the gravel car park and hey, guess who it was....oh yes, the travellers in 3 (brand new) vans arsing about. Fortunately I had parked far enough away from them to not have a freshly shotblasted car.

Fair old bump, cracked the paint on both sides of the panel, put a wibble in the side and a dent in the valance under the fog lamp. I've also twisted the bumper and put an inverted pimple in the corner. I'm going to knock the loose paint off, straighten the bumper and brackets, paint and not do anything else. Not going to apply filler or attempt any panel beatery, instead I'll just make it smart and safe from rust and worry about a proper fix at a later date when I get things like the bottom of my doors repaired. I alternate between grumping and laughing about this, but tomorrow we'll see how much I've got to put right when I take the bumper off.

I reversed my old flat in Crewe into D701 SWL. The combi boiler fell out and crushed my white mocassins. They were a fantastic low mileage example pair (ex Land Of Shoes Rochdale display feet) with just a couple of bunion dents. I had them on eBay and loads of people watched but no-one bid.

 

I'm thinking of spraying them matt black because I'm an embittered post punk who takes the opinions of strangers on the internet personally.

Many years ago my old works workshop was completely empty except from a Mitsubishi Galant door in the middle of it on a panel stand yet i still managed to reverse a Suzuki Vitara over the top of it, much to my bosses dislike.

Doesn't suprise me in the least, they would struggle to get with the local "power balance" of the grimy estates in NI... the ones that have stayed seemed to have congregated around South Belfast particularly in studenty areas and somehow in the sheer gime that is the Holylands (the really crap student area) they've made a reputation for themselves as being thieving inconsiderate bastards. Broke into a mates house, couldn't find anything so trashed the place ("they" were about 10 apparently), other stories of stolen phones which come back with massive bills to romania between the period of the phone being stolen and it being reported stolen etc.

 

As for what Mr Duke said earlier, I'd heard it elsewhere that English gypsies were much better than the Irish travellers so I suspect it to be true. The problem for them is that I suspect seasonal work will have all but dried up in recent decades and most will have just assimilated into normal life.

Buy/borrow a large guitar amp and shove it against the dividing wall. If you don't play guitar, the effect will be 100 times better. Srsly, I haz tryed it yo (in my case, face down on the floor of a flat after 'opera practice' at 3AM (the amp, not me - on that occasion)) and it worked a treat. I never did bother learning how to play it properly in the end.

Its someone well known and an all round good egg, so I suspect he will pay eventually. He's just pretty disorganised and I suspect he's forgotten- although its a bit suspect that he's been online recently but not read my PM, probably because he knows what the PM is about!
