Luxo, could you not try a related industry, e.g. recruitment? I know it's not great money (approx. 18k for a trainee in e.g. Manchester, your HR experience may get you a bit more) or conditions (long hours), but recruitment agencies always seem to be looking for staff.

I know it's not much, but still - it must be because so many goods and services are paid for that way, even if the payee knows they're taking a chance of never getting the goods. I must admit to occasionally paying the full whack of Paypal fees over and above the sale price when buying something from someone whose trustworthiness I wasn't sure of rather than saying it was a "gift"...
